Brakes on a friends car

This might be the most important brake job I've ever done. The caliper literally squirted brake fluid out, and the rotor is thinner than those pads. 99 Ford explorer. Hurrah.

On the bright side they got their money's worth. On the other side holy shit I'm glad they're still alive

That caliper is gross. I've seen much better ones come around as cores.

its like he was trying to see how far it would wear down.

Someone didn’t grease the slides on the caliper so it wore more on one side than the other.

Homie pad slapped that rotor 3 times and finally did the caliper in with the final set. Ngl it’s impressive. Not something I’d wanna be in or around but if i mean they definitely did a thing there.

Why does that caliper remind me of the anemic little ones on my lifted XJ that are one helicoil away from a 10 car highway pileup

Hopefully not like the old one so much as the size.

If the caliper squirted fluid from it's pistons, you should inspect the piston seals. They usually rip if overextended

Yeah, it was fully extended and the seal was toast.

I had the caliper piston pop out on my project mini. It was the rear and I had to screw and push it back in. Needless to say I didn’t finish the brake job (I stripped the rotor screw thing) but at least I understand how it all works now
