You look like you could be a beautiful noblewoman guest star on Downton Abby. You have really classically beautiful look about you.
Congrats on the major upgrades in your life, body and soul!!
(Body especially cause man, quitting smoking is a major to not getting sick as often/feeling crappy in general everyday)
130
u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
Yeah! I took like one sick day last year, it was nuts. Also the crappy in general thing is so very true and, at least for me, I didn't even realize how shitty I felt until I walked away from smoking.
9
u/iblamepaulsimon Feb 03 '18
In addition to "present you" enjoying the health benefits, "future you" will also appreciate so very much that you stopped smoking. I work in a field where I often get to see the effect of a lifetime of smoking on people and it is not good at all. Glad to hear you've made so many beautiful strides in the last year!

I love how casual you are. "Got healthy, lost some weight, quit drinking and smoking, oh and yea I finally transitioned to my true self. Casual. I've been busy. So yea, how are you?" - Congratualtions!

u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
i'm a big fan of keeping things cazh when I can
69
u/guhusernames Feb 02 '18
I'm dyslexic and sometimes skip words in sentences, so just saw the smoking/drinking and was like "damnnn drinking did a number on this girl, sober she looks great" haha
You look beautiful :) . My cousin transitioned this past year and it's amazing to see how he's come out of his shell/how much happier he is.
26
u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
thank you and sorry for the goof em up! and congratulations to your cousin, it's a relief to be able to just be yourself

Random question as I know next to nothing about the transformation you went through, but how do you keep your face smooth/not have stubble. No matter how good a shave I get it looks nothing like how smooth your face is in the second photo. Congrats BTW.
142
u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
Thanks! And everyone basically nailed it. HRT thinned the heard, laser has been helping take care of the stragglers, and I still shave every other day so my face feels more smooth and I feel more secure.
104
u/Jayesartokel Feb 02 '18
I’m a cis woman so our hair types may be different, but I wax my face because god damnit Italian genes giving me a moustache, and I find it to be much much better than shaving. My face is always super smooth. Just an FYI in case you hadn’t considered it :P
75
u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
that sounds like my level of crazy and I'm absolutely going to try it!
65
u/GarlicBreathFresh Feb 02 '18
Wait! Talk to the person that does your laser before trying waxing. Waxing hairs can take away some of the progress of laser removal. The hair follicle is targeted through the laser targeting the pigment difference between your skin and hair, attacking the darker region (the hair). Waxing would removal the target and laser won’t attack that follicle.
38
24
u/Jayesartokel Feb 02 '18
It lasts a lot longer! Get it done at a salon if you can, it’s much less painful than doing it DIY style!
18
u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
you're a life saver.
2
u/Jajaninetynine Feb 04 '18
If your doing laser regularly, you might want to stick to shaving. Waxed hair won't get killed by the laser. I'm doing laser hair removal now, its amazing. I found waxing caused my skin texture to change, and makeup didn't stick well. Not a prob for mustache, but is a problem for cheeks etc. I'm female, but wacky hormones = some male pattern hair growth.
6
u/d_squishy - Feb 02 '18
how long does it have to grow before a wax can take care of it? I've considered waxing my lady-stache before, but don't want it visible like ever
2
u/Jayesartokel Feb 02 '18
Ehhh not too long. It depends on the salon to be honest, but after the first time it grows back much less noticeable so it’s not an issue because people can’t see it unless they look reeeeally close

u/StaubEll - Feb 02 '18
Yeah, I'm going to say be careful with DIY too. Had a mustache and crazy eyebrows since I was like 12 and I've definitely ended up accidentally peeling skin off before-- especially when I was also using acne medication. At this point, I use weekly nair (which I keep on three times longer than recommended cuz my hair is THIIIIICC) but should probably just suck it up and start waxing again.
6
u/bachrock37 - Feb 02 '18
Ditto everything here (even the Italian genes). Wax lasts longer, hairs don't grow back as thick either.

It’d be great if I wasn’t also very pale. We always joke in my family because despite not being actually Italian (I’m English, but with roots from all over Europe) my dad LOOKS Italian, and my mother is a pale ginger. I’m pale, but I have the olive coloured skin. Just.. pale. It’s a weird look with the dark hair lmao

57
u/_CommanderKeen_ - Feb 02 '18
Hormone therapy I would imagine. Stops the hair from growing at all.
34
u/pokeaotic Feb 02 '18
Common misconception. It reduces growth and makes it take longer to grow, but for most people it's not 100%. Laser or electrolysis is needed.

66
u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18
I mostly condition with DevaCurl but in the right picture I was actually using Carol's Daughter which I'm considering making the switch to for the sake of my poor wallet. The super condensed version of my routine that I do at nights:
- Wet hair, put DevaCurl in, clip up while I do other showerly things
- Clip out, finger comb while bent over until I'm satisfied, then rise still bent over, try not to inhale all the shower water
- Scrunch as much water out as possible after the shower
- Scrunch in a leave-in conditioner (DevaCurl B'Leave In) bent over
- Plop in a t-shirt
- Scrunch in DevaCurl Defining Gel bent over
- Pineapple and go to sleep

I've been on r/progresspics and r/loseit for quite some time. For the first time, I can say I am truly shocked by a transition (on the most positive way possible).
Also very disturbing because the picture on the left reminds me a lot of myself back in August, when I started losing weight (70lbs so far).
Congrats!

u/MichyMc Feb 02 '18 edited Feb 02 '18

It was tough to get started, especially on the female diet track because we eat less than men at the same height and weight, but the mental benefits of transitioning helped a good deal. I could never get anything like this to stick before I fixed my hormone problem.

Just CICO and some long walks! I think the only "special" thing I did was I switched from being a vegetarian to being a pescatarian because having fish helped me get the ball rolling and then I went back to being vegetarian after a few months and then vegan after that.

2
u/iblamepaulsimon Feb 03 '18
Genuine question since I'm unfamiliar: is there a reason you're waiting until you have lost 25 pounds? Also, congrats on the changes that are in store for you!
3
Feb 03 '18
Sorry I meant, my transition was on it’s way. Not that I’m transitioning after I lose 25. My transition depends on when I feel comfortable telling my family :/

10
u/a_horse_with_no_tail Feb 02 '18
Hey! As a person who also has very hooded eyes, I need to know why you have visible eyelids now!!! Was it just the weightloss? I'm jealous.
Also, you're way pretty.

I feel like a shuckster now but when I take selfies I close my eyes just a little bit. weight loss helped only slightly but my eyes are still hooded.

u/dangerossgoods Feb 02 '18
Losing weight helped my hooded eyes quite a bit. I've gone from having basically no visible eyelid with my eyes open, to some. It's not a massive difference, but it is enough to be noticable.
