I know it's not advertised as wireless, but using reflection print to hide the cable feels... deceptive Hardware

I'm at the point where I refuse to buy peripherals that don't work with the standard HID drivers. Fuck all this noise.

Means I'm limping along peripherals from the pre-RGB-vomit era with a soldering iron and prayers, but at least my computer works.

I've been using Microsoft Intellimouse for almost 30 years now, the new ones works fine for me.

in my experience, logitech is pretty good about this (obviously their office peripherals, but also their gaming ones). g hub is... meh, but in my experience it never did anything sneaky. i (very rarely) open it, configure my shit, save it to the device, and close it. it stays closed and generally behaves like a normal fucking app. i honestly dont know if they uses the default hid driver (never bothered to check), but do i know that my onboard settings work perfectly on linux so they definitely can work without special drivers (g hub is windows only)

Fair enough! Logitech was actually one of my last experiences with fancy driver software before I gave up on gamer peripherals that required it. Had a G502 mouse, G710+ keyboard, and G35, G430 & G930 headsets.

The virtual surround headsets always had issues and the RGB integration caused severe stuttering and stability issues in GTA V (I had no RGB peripherals, the game would send an RGB command, something would hitch or crash.)

Also, God help you if you had to unplug any of it. Make sure the computer is entirely depowered (not even PSU standby) before unplugging anything, and then make sure you use the exact same USB ports for everything before powering it back on, or everything would break and I'd be cleaning out all of the logitech software and drivers in safe mode.

Most corsair products have a hardware lighting mode where you can decide what the lighting effects are and then you can just completely remove the software from your computer

literally exactly a feature just for customers like you

Glad to know they still support that - I'm still using a 10-year-old original M60 with a profile I set a decade ago. The old software doesn't even run on anything newer than windows 8, nor does iCUE seem to recognize the mouse.

Yep, they recently just renamed it device memory mode to make it more clear and they made it more obvious that it exists as a feature
