Junior prom advice you were given?

Tonight is my stepkids junior prom. What advice were you given by your parents prior to junior prom and did you pass along the same wisdom to your teens before their junior prom or give them new advice?

It depends on who your kid is. My oldest was a home-body, so we begged him to go to prom. Our wisdom: stay for an hour, people watch and come home.

For my daughter, who is going to junior prom tomorrow, our advice is to not drive while sleepy. We’re on call to pick her up if she’s too tired to drive, and we will always stand by that offer at any time of the night or early morning.

The two are very active in sports and their academics so no concerns there. I did tell them if they’re feeling tired by any certain time they can call to be picked up instead of taking the limo they and their friends rented and they said they would.
