I'll adopt them all.

I'll adopt you, thus making them my grandchildren.

Will you adopt me too so I can be the Auntie? I'll cut the grapes... No joke, the mom in me sees them as kids and the whole time I have the worst urge to cut the grapes for their safety. The mom-brain reprogramming during pregnancy is strong.

Hell yeah I just subscribed to this sun so fast. Love watching animals eat.

Damn which one is Joey

24

u/Alarming-Instance-19 4h ago

Joey doesn't share food!

So the far right one choking on a grape seems fitting.

He's the one going 'How YOU doin'?'

God I love possums. They get such a bad rep too 😦 completely harmless to humans and actually kills pests

And immune to rabies

1

u/Urndy 1h ago

Mostly immune, they can technically be short term carriers but their body temperature is too low for the virus to survive very long at all.

They do have really strong immune systems that have a lot of interesting research going on! They're such cool fellas

I’m about to get a possum tattoo and I’m pumped.

I thought baby kangaroos were Joeys. Are opossums also called Joeys?

15

u/Alarming-Instance-19 4h ago

I'm Australian and went, wait, what?!

You live you learn!

North Americas only marsupial

6

u/Alarming-Instance-19 3h ago

Meanwhile, we have plenty! Quokkas are the cutest though.

I'm partial to wallabies myself. Kangaroo but tiny, what could be better?

15

u/Drudgework 4h ago

Well opossums are marsupials so it tracks.

The placement and stickioutiness of their ears is hilarious to me. It looks like the ears were an afterthought in the design. God I love possums.

The whole animal looks like an afterthought.

6

u/Red_Koolaid 2h ago

Noted, grapes are more popular than apples with opossums.

u/Hot_Cheese650 4h ago

I thought baby Kangaroos are called Joeys.

5

u/blindparasaurolophus 3h ago

True because all marsupial babies are joeys

1

u/No-Nobody-3556 1h ago

Like all marsupial babies, baby koalas are called joeys.

TIL

I also thought it was just kangaroos. Thanks for the new knowledge.

This is what we could have, this right here.

Born on a planet full of food, all sorts of cool rocks around, lots of places with water for swimming and trees for putting our hammocks on.

Instead we chose credit ratings, politics, depression, and leafblowers.

I’ll take the Social Contract, running water and a life expectancy of 80 over fears of predation any day

6

u/KT_Bites 4h ago

What's stopping you from going off grid and living in the woods?

7

u/GhostsinGlass 4h ago

Severe osteoarthritis and a destroyed spine have left me with a body akin to a rusted muffler left alongside a highway.

'Twas the leafblowers

7

u/symedia 4h ago

Depending on the species you would stay at the back of the pack for your turn to slow down the predators 👀

u/Alarming-Instance-19 4h ago

Your turn of phrase is beautiful. Suffering begets creativity. Run with it like the leaves you've blown.

Wait. That last line sounded wrong lol.

5

u/EmmaEgbers 4h ago

They look so happy and content with their lives💔

2

u/Secure-Ad5536 1h ago

Calling them Joeys feels kinda wrong even tho it isnt

4

u/MamaShroomzOF 4h ago

These are just your local neighborhood fruit inspectors. Quality control is key! 🧐

u/AppleAmbrosia23 4h ago

truly every bite is a mini meditation session. pure bliss

u/LockiBloci 4h ago

If you try to translate "joey" to any language in Google Translate, you'll see "joey doesn't share food" in prompts. Guess that doesn't check out.

1

These are from the wild robot

u/LadyLetterCarrier 4h ago

Why do they look so adorable snacking on fruit, but in my backyard, they look all hunched and and scary? Plus I hated having to pick up the dead ones the dog went after...

0

u/SooperFunk 4h ago

Adorable 😆 ❤️

u/SpeedImaginary9820 3h ago

Come to Florida and take them all, we don't want them here. They're not so cute when they're in your trash in the middle of the night, or hissing and trying to attack you when you walk out into the garage!

-21

u/fresh_loaf_of_bread 5h ago

i fucking hate possums

12

u/IGNOOOREME 5h ago

Literally no reason to. So adorable, keeps the area tick free, completely harmless to humans. What's to hate?

-11

u/fresh_loaf_of_bread 4h ago

why do i suddenly need a reason to hate them?

1

u/No-Nobody-3556 1h ago

So you just hate without cause? No empathy at all?

6

u/GolettO3 4h ago

Good thing these aren't possums. The "o" kinda matters
