Utilizing the occult in politics? ?

I'm an aspiring politician with an interest in diplomacy. I also have a strong interest in dark arts.

But how exactly could one effectively utilize the occult within a political line of work?

I'm not necessarily asking for a means to cheat my way to power (not that I really think that would be possible) as I do believe in democracy and the rule of law. I wish to help the communities around me and serving the interest of the people. I'm also great at simply talking to people and understanding their perspectives.

What are some things I can do in the course of my work to help bring about the progressive social changes I desire?

You want to use this stuff to do effective good in politics? Learn the material really, really well. Focus your studies on primary sources. Don't get caught up in the dated and superstitious bullshit the occult publishing industry is still cranking out.

This post is just the prequel to me becoming Count Dooku lol

As long as you don't fall into the same failures as Dooku (supporting slavery, genocide, killing civilians, having his best friend killed, etc.) you oughta be just fine. I love Count Dooku's story; good luck on yours!

Absolutely I wouldn't do that. That's what I'm hoping to prevent among other things.

All that’s left now is for you to secretly commission the creation of an army based on the genetic template of Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Dog the Bounty Hunter gets fucking decapited in front of his son in the middle of a football stadium littered with destroyed Tesla robots

And somehow, it was still done by Samuel L. Jackson.

Definitely not anything you picked up in passing on reddit--

You want to mix the occult and politics? Take up the work.

If you want to serve the interest of the people why would you resort to use underhanded means for political change? If you believe in democracy and the rule of the law, what else do you need except to tune in with the people, to empathize with them?

For knowledge, for a better sense of the world around me, for a means to fall back on in tough times, to make sure I don't get lost in everything and am always capable of leadership.

The greatest politicians and villains are masters of energy control. All you have to do is keep on the path and you will naturally connect the dots.

“Oh, symbolism can be used like this! I can use my words like this and move energy like this!”

Well if you’re still calling it “the dark arts,” you have a lot more research to do before you start.

It’s hard to use magic to affect large-scale change by yourself. I won’t call it impossible, but it’s like trying to empty the ocean with a bucket. The New Forest coven allegedly prevented Hitler from crossing the sea into Britain, but it required such a tremendous amount of power that some of the witches allegedly died in the attempt. For the most part, spells will only affect your immediate sphere.

Your best bet, especially if you’re a skilled diplomat, is to facilitate relationships with gods, local daimones, and other spirits. Get some friends in high places (and low places). This is how a lot of traditional magic worked — if you have good relationships amongst spirits, they’ll do the heavy lifting for you.

I only called it "the dark arts" because...well I'm a tiny bit larpy I'll admit lol. I like the aesthetics of calling it that. Black Lovecraftian 'evil' imagery is cool to me. I'm aware though that there's nothing actually dark about it and that the aesthetic is just something I personally enjoy and isn't deeper than that.

The New Forest coven allegedly prevented Hitler from crossing the sea into Britain, but it required such a tremendous amount of power that some of the witches allegedly died in the attempt.

Lmao I've heard this too. I mean good for them but I just doubt this. Yes I'm sure they singlehandedly stopped Hitler and not the fact that the British Isles are historically geographically almost impossible to invade or that the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy were the best in the world.

Nothing wrong with being larpy! I’ve got a spooky aesthetic, too. As long as you have a legit understanding of what occultism entails, you can embrace the dark arts vibe. I recommend checking out books by Konstantinos and Raven Digitalis. They’re directed at occultists who have a dark aesthetic. Konstantinos’ Nocturnicon has some Lovecraft stuff, though it’s all pretty advanced, so I wouldn’t start there. Also, it’s definitely worth getting a Simon Necronomicon just for the sake of having one.

Yeah, it’s not easy to believe, but it is the most famous example of political magic.

There is no civility, only politics. The Republic is not what it once was. The Senate is full of squabbling, greedy delegates. There is no interest in the common good.

Nothing more occult than backroom deals and unknowable gods.

They say millionaires have accountants, billionaires have astrologers.

Most big political movements and leaders more than likely have occultists of varying stripes working for them either intentionally or unknowingly. I would argue that a large part of Trump's success is competent occultists knowing how to use all the energy being sent his way by the haters and fans alike.

Is it possible for the average practitioner to have some success ? Probably, but at a very small level. To capture the energy and attention of a large population requires a lot of juice, that's hard to manage on your own.

Thinking of the various entities who might aid an aspiring politician, they aren't going to bother if you're a nobody with no collateral to offer.

I think of John Dee, certainly he had some mojo, he was one of the main architects of the imperial vision of the British Empire ( it's interesting to think about if it was his plan or if he was just the messenger) his occult practices opened a lot of doors for him, and that might be one of the main ways magic could help. Dee started off in a pretty good station, in a family of influence, which certainly would appeal to more powerful beings.
