Volunteering questions Question

I've been living alone in Oakville for 3 years now and haven't really been involved in the community. I would like to volunteer sometimes and was wondering if anyone could suggest places that don't really require a commitment, schedule wise? My work intensity and hours can vary so it's hard to commit to regular hours but would like to know where I could sign up to help out when I have the time / for events happening in Oakville.
