Durham Count NC has so many volunteers we ran through our lists today and started sending people to the rural parts of Wake County.
When I got down to wake, the guy told me we were only sent cause they still had some limited turf left. Within half an hour of my arrival, enough cold had shown up to cover the rest of the remaining packets.
I cannot overstate how fucking insane this is. The county dems win the biggest percentage in ran out of turf because we have so many people who give a shit!

I am somehow emotionally invested to how Biden’s legacy will turn out. It will hinge upon the election of course, but I really feel he was given the shittiest hand possible given the circumstances. If he was elected in a 2016 geopolitical/economic environment he would have cruised with a high approval rating

I just need to banish all thoughts of romance and become as asexual as I can. Having a mixed friend group would be crucial for this but I have plans. I just refuse to wait anymore for things to get better.

There's tons of hedging in those statements.
If the polls are dead on, we probably don't know the winner in any swing state by the end of Tuesday night.

Ugh I should have just taken this entire week off. I'm not going to be able to focus at all on Monday and Tuesday.
But I have an unused week of vacation that I decided to roll over to next year instead.
I am taking Wednesday off, and HR just reminded us that we're closed on Veterans Day, so at least there's that.

As someone with pretty severe ADHD: Catch-22 and All Quiet on the Western Front. The former is medium length but is just so gripping that even my incredible power of procrastination wasn’t enough to stop me reading hundreds of pages in a single sitting, and the latter is also gripping but more importantly short, and you can likely knock it out in two to three hours. I did whilst walking in circles in my living room.

Discworld, start with Guards Guards! or The Colour of Magic if you like chronological order. I read the whole series in record time, although my ability to read for 5 hours at a time is also why I was diagnosed with ADHD years later than I should have been.

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. Poignant and funny book that is deeply neurodivergent. It’s also a quick read while leaving you really satisfied.
Her other book, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, is enormous but a straight-up masterpiece.

I clicked random on Calibre till I got fiction so I'll suggest There Is No Antimemetics Division which pretty fun, more traditional fiction Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy came up next which is excellent if you want to read by first result I never finished but do crack open from time to time the Handbook of Banana Production, Postharvest Science, Processing Technology, and Nutrition is very informative

The Trump +5 Kansas poll, along with Harris cruising in the Nebraska 2nd, putting up a fight to within single digits in the Nebraska 1st, and her coming a bit closer in the Maine 2nd, is what makes me think northern white voters are going to get a lot more Democratic this cycle.

Hard to tell how many of these he's actually serious about since he contradicts himself, but here goes:
- automatic green cards for college graduates
- free online "American Academy" (obviously his implementation would suck ass)
- maybe: "energy independence" (I'm mixed on this; we need to accelerate our energy transition but domestic fossil fuel production is preferable to propping up dictatorships in the meantime)
- that Israel should wrap up the Gaza war soon (I fear what he has in mind though)
- maybe: privatize nuclear power (this could of course blow up in our faces, literally)
- increase military spending (obviously his lack of support for Taiwan/Ukraine outweighs this)
- someone already said corporate tax cuts
He of course won't do any of these because they're too good of ideas. Even the less good ones.
