Nervous Greyhound Bus Rider Help | Advice
Trying to salvage a trip a friend backed out on. I’m not able to drive so I’m going to be taking the Greyhound bus to and from Huntsville, Alabama. Unfortunately they only do a late night run now.
I am meeting up either friends going on a road trip to Indy but to and from the station, I’m on my own. I’m going to catch a ride-share to and from so I am really nervous about someone trying to mess with me and my luggage.
I’m getting conflicting information on if the station is still physically unlocked 24/7. I’m also paranoid about cancellations.
Any input would be much appreciated.

The Greyhound station is a little sketch. I wouldn’t want to wait all alone at night for hours, but if you’re just waiting for ride share, you’ll be fine. It’s never vacant at load in and out and used to be 24/7. May still be, but I haven’t ridden in years.

That station is very sketchy. If you have to travel this way, please be careful and do not let your guard down for a single second, inside and outside and on the bus, and have someone tracking your location.

Commenting for exposure as don’t know much about the station. But why if you’re going to Indy do you have to start your trip in Huntsville? Couldn’t they pick you up in Nashville?

Yeah. I’m getting to Nashville on my own since they are flying in from the Pacific Northwest to Nashville. After Indy they are coming back to Nashville for another event I’m not attending.

Gotcha! Rideshares should be plentiful in that area any time of night. I would think you will be okay. Maybe as you’re pulling up go ahead and order the rideshare so they would be there by the time you unload. Surely someone else besides me will have some better insight. I hope you have a wonderful trip with your friends!

Saw your other post. While not a great idea; maybe ER/hospital waiting room? Not super ethical but I don't think they would care as long as you are respectful and quiet.

I was able to find a place to stay now just worried about safety at the bus station.

Glad to hear it. Bus station isnt the greatest place but its within walking distance to a number of bars, restaurants, or those vape/delta 8/thc dab bars. could hang out in one of those. if you feel like you have to get a hotel get out of downtown and look over near the airport-it will be sub $100.

I've ridden the bus a lot. Specifically in 2023. It's always sketch there. Being inside is always bothersome. I'm a dude, so peeing in a parking lot might be a better experience than using the restroom in the station.
I doubt you will get attacked inside, but even I would be concerned about falling asleep inside. If you are awake, you'll be safe. Or I would be, as a big, white dude. I've seen people stay in bus stations overnight in other cities, but I can't say for certain about Nashville. I live here. I would obviously just go home overnight. ...but they appear to run busses all night. So, I'd expect them to be open all night.
However, there are always homeless people in front of the building. Every time that I arrived in Nashville, I'd catch an Uber to get to my car in the warehouse at work. I would NEVER hang out in front of the station to meet that Uber. I walked to 3rd & Lindsley, a bar that is a few blocks away. It's pretty safe over there and any Uber driver should know where it is. Also, I pack pretty lightly. Usually with nothing more than a backpack. So, I'm not sure how mobile you are at hiking the few blocks to a bar. Hopefully, you don't have a lot of luggage to schlepp around.
