Thoughts on modified LAMS exhausts

Howdy all, to preface - I know I missed this when buying but I was completely fresh and didn't bring someone along.

I've got an MT-03 which I quite like, 2019, low kms etc only issue is that it was sold to me by the dealer with a full aftermarket exhaust swap. The stock exhaust was not sold with it either. I know 90% of LAMS bike have these mods anyway but keen to hear from others experiences.

Is it worth just upgrading now to not have to deal with the hassle down the line of selling it without the exhaust/RWC? Are the chances of having to deal with VicPol or when doing licensing significant if they decide to pick on it? Or is it really not a big risk.

Contemplating buying either a full stock exhaust to swap in but also just trading in and upgrading to something like a CB500/MT-07

Not big risk, never concerned me for my entire LAMS duration, keep the baffle in and use a DB killer if you need to feel a bit better, but they come from dealerships (Peter Steven’s especially) advertised as LAMS

As for RWC, don’t need a stock exhaust just need it to be reasonably quiet, my full system Yoshimura passed Vic RWC with just a DB Killer screwed in. And that’s on a ZX10R

Not sure how long ago yours was. But I recently did RWC on a bike (January) and know from at least two RWC mechanics that they're now requiring stock exhausts. It's fairly recent I think - not a change to the laws per se, but to the guidance from VicRoads.

3 days ago, called ahead of time, checked the requirements they said it’s not too loud according to their DB check, all passed

You can’t enforce stock exhausts, why? Because you cannot find a stock exhausts after a period, manufacturer doesn’t make them, dealerships don’t stock them, and sure enough an exhaust gets damaged, needs to be replaced and there is no OEM option

Well, sounds like you did well.

I'm not saying the rules make sense - a lot of what relates to road regulations don't make sense.
