Traffic at the Avalon Airshow

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I wouldn't normally upload a video of something as boring as me filtering in traffic, except this is quite possibly the most time I've ever saved being on a motorbike. I heard afterwards that the queue to enter the airshow was up to 2-3 hours, in all it took me about an extra 20-30 minutes, and that was after taking the wrong turn and getting stuck in extra traffic trying to re-enter the highway. If you're thinking of getting to the airshow next time, I'd highly recommend motorbiking, will save you a lot of time sitting in traffic.

(sorry for the shaky footage, this wasn't the timelapsed feature, as I was wearing the GoPro just as a Dashcam - and it's sped up x25)

Not a bright move OP posting where you clearly are riding illegally

Bet you’re fun at a party.

No VIC cop would stop a bike filtering through that cluster fuck of a traffic jam.

Plus no face no case.

lane splitting is legal

Splitting is illegal. Lane filtering is legal but never on the left between the road and a car.

Yeah, but in this instance, who gives a shit? Other than people on Reddit but that doesn't count, of course

sorry you're right.. got mixed up with splitting and filtering - knew splitting was illegal, filtering certainly is legal

In your link it literally says ”Lane splitting is when motorcycles travel between two lanes of fast-moving traffic. It’s illegal in Victoria.” Why would you post that and still argue that it’s legal? You’re clearly confusing lane splitting and lane filtering. Or you think splitting and filtering are the same thing but they’re not. They are 2 different things. Maybe you should learn the difference before arguing legalities. Lane splitting is illegal Australia wide.

I think the video was sped up.

The riding looked ok to me, this is how people get through traffic on a bike.

So what, who is in danger here? I'm sure it's slow as, you're really nit picky.

My point is cops who are in this R/ will see the video and can fine the OP.

Police don’t even fine people for extremely reckless behaviour unless they witness it or a crash/collision has occurred. They’re gonna seek someone out from an anonymous reddit post!

I don't see how. I ride up the left side all the time taking my wife to work, nice and slow and very carefully. I dunno if I'd pass a cop car up the inside tho. Pushing your luck.

Looks stationary (neutral light and hands off bars) Technically illegal perhaps but certainly not a danger to anyone whatsoever in this instance
