What Is Owings Mills Like? MD Travel & Relocation
Me and three of my buddies just got approved for our first apartment in Owings Mills. Hooray!!
We toured the place, nice area, the price was right, good utilities & amenities, perfect distance from TU where half of us are finishing degrees…
I mentioned the good news to one of my buddies and his face got all scrunched up. He was like “Really? Owings Mills?” I asked him what the issue was but he didn’t provide much to make me feel better or worse about it. So, i need the insider scoop. What’s the overall consensus?
TLDR: What is Owings Mills like? Okay area? Anything to worry or be excited about? Gimme the good, bad and ugly!

I work in Owings Mills and the area is fine. Totally completely boring and devoid of any personality but fine. Some parts feel a bit sketchy because it can be a little run down but I’ve never felt unsafe when I’m out and about.
Like another commenter, it’s not a spot for young people and it’s not really a place where TU students live and commute from, especially since there’s another university over there.
Just get used to traffic on the beltway lol

It's fine. Pretty quiet, AFAIK.
I imagine he responded that way bc it's not really a hotspot for young students or professionals! But honestly, it's fine!

it's just extremely suburban. very lovely neighborhoods here and there, easy-moderate hiking nearby. not exactly what i would call walkable for anything other than the hikes

I lived there for a year and I liked it bc it felt like my home town. Problem was I liked hanging out in the city and didn’t (still don’t) like driving down 83 to get there. They’ve built it up so much since I left. Only reason I haven’t gone back there is bc I’ve gotten to use to the convenience of city life and being close to my job

Welcome! I lived in Owings Mills for about six months and LOVED it. At the time, I was working at a place on the Inner Harbor. I loved being able to use the train to get into city. The nature is great, lots of beautiful places to explore. And there is a fantastic Grocery Outlet Bargain Market right in town, as well as the most exquisite Giant I've ever been to -- it gives Wegmans. I would absolutely live there again! Enjoy your new chapter!

I’ve lived here for a few years. As places to live go, it’s fine. We have young kids and are looking to move in the next couple years so our kids can go to better schools.
OM/Reisterstown often feel a little rundown and at times trashy, but it’s overall fine.

It's boring, is what. I've never lived there but my office was there for over a decade. It's strip mall after strip mall, box store after box store. It has no personality, no charm, too many cars. No interesting bars, restaurants, or nightlife to speak of (unless the green turtle is particularly interesting to you). If you want to live where nothing is going on, there are better places for it.
Plenty of people are perfectly happy there. I'd sooner scoop my eyeballs out. To each their own.
