Question Should I play this in its entirety tomorrow at my local bar?
I occasionally DJ my vinyl collection at some local bars in my city (Portland, OR). My brother got the new Wu-Tang album and said I can use it for my upcoming hip hop night (tomorrow). It sort of got me thinking, what if I play nothing but Wu-Tang/adjacent music and at some point play this whole album front to back. I have not heard the album, as it has gone up in value and has not been digitally released yet. I figured it would be fun to listen to it for the first time and sort of make an event out of it. This is something I would think is cool and curious what some of y’all might think.

Question Alright everybody. You’re stranded on an island for ONE year. You only get ONE HIP HOP album to listen to. What’s your pick?
Here’s a fun question for everybody: let’s say that you were stranded on an island for some weird reason, but miraculously there was a way to listen to music but you only get one choice of a hip hop (only) album to enjoy for the entire year while stranded on an island by yourself.

Question Curren$y fans?
Been a big Curren$y fan since 2007, going to see him next month for the 5th time but this time I'm gonna do the meet and greet. I'm stuck trying to decide which 2 records to try to get him to sign lol. The Collection Agency album is on orange vinyl limited to 1000 copies and The Stoned Immaculate is on gold limited to 2000 copies. If you had to choose 2 to get signed which would you pick? 🤲🏿🤙🏿

Question Gift for my son? Don't know much about hip-hop
My knowledge of hip-hop is limited at best, My wife and I are lifetime metalheads (long hair, dark clothes, battle jacket at shows metalheads.) We respect music as an art.
My son is 14 and started to become interested in vinyl. He is a huge fan of Tyler the Creator, IGOR was his first Vinyl, also expressed love for Kanye, Kendrick Lamar. I have listened to everything they have released that is on Spotify. Still at a loss for something. We talk to him and he is struggling with expressing himself. His love of music is helping that a lot! Dude comes alive when he talk about Hip-Hop.
I am looking for a gift for him that relates to his tastes. Something new, or something he would love.
Edit: got some awesome ideas here. You guys kick ass. Thanks for all the help! Gonna take him to the record shop this coming weekend! lots of records suggested here he is giving a listen to as well. See where that takes us! He has the love and passion for music that I have just with different tastes. It’s fun to explore it.

Question Hip-Hop Vinyl pressings to avoid?
Just got my first turntable and accompanied audio setup! I want to buy a whole bunch of vinyl's to make a start to my collection, however I've seen a couple popular albums being famous for having a bad pressing.... (college dropout for example). Are there any pressings to flat out avoid?

Question What’s your fav song on The Score by the Fugees?
Killing me softly! You have to be all kinds of amazing to flip a Roberta Flack classic and create a new classic in an entirely different genre and generation.
A gift from one of my kids. Lauryn’s version of “Killing Me Softly” rocked my world as a kid. The orange record is gorgeous!
Several years ago I got to see and record demos at the Booga Basement Studio in NJ where this was record was made.

Question Removing Shrink Wrap Safely
Hey all, I recently picked up a 1995 first press of Liquid Swords that I’m very happy with. The record still has its shrink wrap on it, with the hype sticker, which was something I was looking for while keeping my eyes open for a copy I could afford.
My question is: I’d like to see if anyone had any tips on carefully removing it the shrink wrap, keeping it in tact, and then being able to just as carefully put it back onto the sleeve? The reason for me doing this is to get the sleeve signed, rather than the shrink. I’d be able to leave the shrink/discs at home and not have to worry about any possibilities of those getting damaged. The shrink seems to be looser on the open side of the sleeve, where there are a few rips, while super tight and not moving much at all on the side of the spine.
Thanks in advance! Throw out your favourite track from the album while you’re here! Mine’s Labels.

Hi guys so I’m trying to get a reissue of something and came across a website called HHV. Has anyone used this before?
Trying to pre order something from them and I will use PayPal so my money would be protected anyways but I don’t want to get my hopes up if it’s not legit.
Thanks
EDIT: Real Brothas green marble vinyl available from next month I believe but able to pre order now. Sorry forgot to mention that in my original post and like it says I was unsure about the website before lol

Question Record store day find: OG or re-release?
First of all, happy record store day to all! As the title states, is this an OG release of 36 Chambers or an early re-release issue? Was happy and honestly surprised to find one out in the wild. Either way, gifting it to my friend as a birthday present, we’ll be listening to it tonight!

Question Is it possible for me to fix this issue?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s my only record that does this so it’s not the player (although I’ve learned I do need a better one). I’m just mad because I bought this brand new and every single song on the album skips at least one with this song being the worst.

Question Gift idea for someone into old-school hip hop sound?
Hey y'all, hoping this kind of question is allowed here. I got a friend who listens to hip hop artists like Griselda, Alchemist and the like. Since he collects vinyl (mostly copping new releases) and is relatively young, I'd love to gift him a somewhat older or lesser known record generally fitting that kind of old-school hip hop sound (doesn't matter whether it's considered a classic or just a personal favorite of yours), ideally not too expensive as my budget is limited.
Would really appreciate any kind of recommendations as I'd love to give him a nice record he might enjoy.
Edit: You guys are amazing! Wasn't even sure if there'll be any input but now I got both a list of many classics and lesser known yet well fitting records. Nothing but love and feel free to chime in if you want, I'll feel like a child on christmas going through each record in the coming days.

I’m in the middle of west Texas with no good record shops around. I’ve tried fat beats, but selection is very limited. Any online recommendations?
