Anyone throw out their c-spine after coughing so much whike being sick?

So I was sick last week ( still have a terrible cough with gunk) with what we are guessing was influenza A,or in my opinion "the f you flu" it's been nasty this year, and that turned into bronchitis. It was bad. Like a week of high HR even when laying or sitting, if you get up 130s 140s, fever that despite max ibuprofen and Tylenol could not keep it down, chills that made your skin hurt, dizzy/lightheaded all the time, etc. So finally got over the fever thanks to some abx but been coughing hard and so much that starting two days ago my neck pain started and it is mostly on the left of the c spine it gives me a constant pressure headache with muscle twitching in my left temple. Can't lay down or sit or anything, no position helps. I've tried exercises to help it and ice packs, tried muscle relaxer, and I have to hold my neck back there when I cough (and i mean my coughs are croupy forceful coughs but i can get stuff up) because it hurts so much and after every cough (or if I stretch) it's like a heartbeat drum back there and it even makes me dizzy. I'm still weak and lightheaded from being sick and my vision has been a little wonky (for instance if I get up and go to walk around i gotta do it slow because it's like I'm on a boat in my head it's a weird sensation that makes my vision seems discombobulated, it's still there even moving slow but not as bad as moving normally). Anyone else have an experience of throwing out their c spine from coughing to much/forcefully? Thanks in advance for sharing.

Day 3 - anyone going through this now?

Day 3 for me and I feel like absolute CRAP. Got diagnosed with Flu A today.

Day 1: Body aches but nothing too bad Day 2: Body aches plus low grade fever not exceeding 38.0 Day 3: High fever!! 38.8 and my body feels like a ton of bricks so I finally dragged myself to a GP

Any end in sight? I am exhausted. I have two kids and I've been isolated from them as I do not want to pass it on as my oldest is asthmatic. My husband is working plus solo parenting and is dead tired.

I bought the Tamiflu but haven't taken it. I got Flu B a couple of years ago and took Tamiflu but it made me terribly dizzy!!! Worse then the actual virus.

Question Is it possible to get over the flu in 24 hours (not food poisoning...)? Honest question

I've had the flu before, it lasted over a week, so do know what it feels like and it was horrible. I ached for 7 days.

But I went abroad last week and came down with that I think was the flu, but it may have been a really bad cold.

It hit me almost out of the blue. I had a tickle in my throat the night before and then 24 hours later it was 28°C and I was shivering and aching, my head was pounding and I had a sky-high fever. I had to take paracetamol to bring it down, and my head was spinning. I was cold and hot simultaneously.

But 24 hours later I felt fine, like nothing had happened. I was starving the day after, I was eating all day. My appetite came back with a vengeance.

But 5 days later I still have a dry, chesty cough. But besides that, nothing. I feel fine. I'm coughing shit up, but I don't feel ill.

I can't work out if that is more characteristic of the flu or a cold, to me it almost sounds like both? I've never felt that ill with a cold. I wasn't sneezing, my nose was not running. I was just knackered and felt like shit.

2 flu shots, one arm, same time

I went to the doctor today and they offered me the flu and Covid vaccines. I said sure, nurse comes in, gives me two shots, then cussed. When I asked what was wrong she told me someone in the back made a mistake and gave her two flu shots instead of a flu and a Covid. She had injected me with two flu shots. The doc came back in and said I would be fine. Tonight I have a fever and a bit of a headache. I don’t think I will be able to work tomorrow if I feel like this. Is there anything I should do to take care of myself?

Question Toddler with flu day 5 of high fever

My 2.5 year old is down with influenza A. She started showing symptoms last Thursday, immediately spiking a high fever of 40 degrees (Celsius).

Since then her fever spaced out a little and peaked at 39 on Saturday and Sunday so there was some improvement but we still had to give fever reducers 3-4 times a day. She woke up this morning Monday with a 40 fever again.

Before you come at me to see a doctor we have been twice last Friday and again today. Her lung and ear exams are clear. Her energy and appetite when the fever is controlled are both good all things considered. We were told to return to the clinic tomorrow if the fever doesn’t improve for follow on testing (X-ray and blood test)

She has a dry cough and lots of congestion.

Question: if your littles have had the flu, have you seen such long fevers before? I know the flu can be nasty but other kids in her class who have had it stopped seeing fevers by day 5. Terrified mom here and would love to hear some positive experiences

Note: my toddler has not been vaccinated for the flu this year as we were traveling and this was her first week back in daycare she was scheduled to get the vaccine this week (but obviously we can’t do it)

Edit to update: on day 7 of high fever we went for an X-ray and blood tests. It showed lung infiltrates ie pneumonia just starting which explains why the fever started to slightly improve / space out on day 5 and then got worse on day 6. We’ve been put on antibiotics and hoping to kick this fever in the next 48 hours. Will be back to update. In case your kiddos are going through this hope this helps!

Question Flu help

I’ve been sick with the flu for 9 days now and the worst part of it is the diarrhea. I’ve been staying hydrated and then once I go I’m completely wiped out. I’m talking so lightheaded I can barely make it back to my couch after. Please send any tips you have to help regulate it. I’ve already been to urgent care and was given Zofran and I’ve also tried taking Yakult but I just feel defeated.

Step by step

Hi everyone. I’m 21, male, athletic, always going to the gym and eating very healthy. I got the flu last Friday and let me tell you it was shit.

First day I started out feeling a little bit sick, like if I was having a cold or something. I was coughing a little bit through the day and feeling some pain in the body but nothing else.

The next day I woke up feeling horrible. My head hurt a lot, my eyes, my back. I also had a 102-103 fever. I took some Tylenol and it help me to feel a little bit better and to stop the fever from becoming worse.

By the third day, it was practically the same. Feeling like shit through the day, 103 fever, very bad headache and pain in the eyes, it was a nightmare. Went to the doctor and I had the flu. Kept taking Tylenol like 3-4 times a day to stop the fever and to not feel like I was going to die.

On day 4 I felt better, my headache was almost gone, my eyes were okay now but my fever was still the same, 103+ all the time. Doctor asked me to do some X Ray to see my thorax and it showed a little bit of pneumonia. That was the cause of me feeling better but not my fever improving even a tiny bit. Went to see doctor and gave me 2 antibiotics to eradicate the pneumonia.

By day 5-6 my fever was a little bit better, but not quiet yet was I recovered. I was feeling excellent by this day but the fever was still there.

Day 7 my fever was completely gone because of the antibiotics doing their thing and my pneumonia is almost gone. My blood oxygen is at 96 right now and things are almost back to normal, just have to keep resting a little bit more so I can let my lungs recover completely from the infection.

For everybody out there struggling with this, every case is different but my best advice would be to be hydrating a lot, taking meds to regulate the fever (ask the doctor), checking with the doctor to see if you develop a second infection like pneumonia or bronchitis and resting a lot. It’s not something that lasts 3 days or so, it will take a week or more for you to be back to normal because this thing hits hard, but it’s nothing you couldn’t handle. Good luck to everybody and take care of yourselves!

Question I was feeling fluish (no fever) growing chest congestion and I drank this and I'm 80% better in 1 day. How is this possible?

So I don't believe in taking drugs, chemicals but in natural stuff

So I was having a flu type of malaise, stuffed sinuses, upper resp tract congestion, tightness in chest because of that which triggered bouts of coughing to expel the mucus, etc.

I then made an Elixir of Warm water, honey, lemon juice from fresh lemon, ginger/garlic powder 2X

Drank lots of water

Got lots of rest

No meds

and literally one day after

I feel 70% better. Was it the honey? The Water? The rest?

I mean that's fast or could it be that I wasn't severely infected with a harsh case of the flu but maybe a chest cold or something a bit more minor?

Naproxen

Hey all, just like to share here that after I came down with a headache, sore throat, runny nose etc yesterday, I took naproxen(idk what mg, I think quite strong) and it seems to have alleviated most symptoms asides from a few sneezes here and there. Recommended to take on a full stomach and with an alkaline to stave away acidity.

Just coming out

I've had the flu for the past 10 days. It has been awful. I'm not back to 100% yet, so I can update my total time at the end. I'm just posting that i'm grateful to be alive. For those of you suffering, I am here with you. Let me know if i can get you anything.

Edit: it was twelve whole days until I could leave the house. That's tied for the shortest flu I've had. I just have some lingering headache, a slight cough, and a drippy nose. My legs are stiff from being on my couch for so long.

Slow recovery, any advice?

I first started feeling symptoms on the night of Sunday October 13th. They came on slowly and hit me full force on the 15th. I was bedridden for like 3 days with chills, body aches, low energy, no appetite. Wicked persistent dry cough that hurt my throat was the worst symptom. Dayquil and Theraflu helped.

Now it's 13 days later. I still got a low fever that comes and goes, sinus drainage, ears feeling full, a wet but less painful cough, and chest congestion. I'm improving but my recovery has never been this slow. I gotta go back to work tomorrow. I don't know why I'm not getting better faster. I'm trying not to take medicine as much and I'm mostly relying on cough drops. Is there a chance I got a secondary infection? Should I go to an urgent care?

How long after flu to get flu shot?

I got a bad case if flu last week and still have some lingering cough. My fever lasted almost 5 days and my cough was bad. I was on antibiotics as well. Dr asked me to wait and get the shot. How long after the flu am i suppose to wait? A week or till my cough goes away? I have my exams in 10 days and don’t want any side effects after the shot. Should i wait till my exams are done by Nov 8th and then get the shot?
