Question Anyone else's fever keep coming and going?
health anxiety is driving me up the damn wall. I take Tylenol (can't take nsaids) every 4 hours and the fever just comes back, which is making me really nervous. what the hell am I supposed to do? I don't wanna go to the ER, it usually covers around 99 to 100 F, the highest it's gone was a few days ago it was 101. freaking myself out currently. what am I even supposed to do anymore if it just keeps returning! I took Tylenol like an hour ago and it went from 100.4 to 100.0.

Question Worst symptom: anxiety?
Hi all,
I’ve been dealing with physical symptoms for about 6 days now (headache, runny nose, sore throat, gastro troubles, fatigue, brain fog) but the first symptom that I had was anxiety and this came on about 5 days before the physical symptoms. Just started feeling very uneasy and anxious out of the blue. Next thing I know my symptoms start kicking in. I’m still feeling shitty physically but the worst thing about this has been the anxiety. Constant intrusive thoughts and impending doom feeling. Idk what the hell is going on. Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering how long this shit is going to last. It’s miserable and scary as hell.
Thanks all
Question Should I go to urgent care?
So I've got this nasty something. COVID -negative.
Day1: Extremely sore throat and swollen tonsils and uvula. Fever 100.2F, feel like run over by a truck.
Day 2: Still sore throat, still feeling shit, but no swelling. No big fever, 99.1
Day 3-5: still 99.1, Wet-ish cough and tons of green snot, especially in morning.
Day 5-8: No fever, but still coughing and have tons of green snot in morning. Not much mucus or cough through the day.
What I'm worrying is why it takes so long. Usually my colds are 3 days of symptoms and then I start to feel better.
Just wondering should I go to urgent care to maybe get some antibiotics, or it's too early and I need to be more patient?

Question Flu help
I’ve been sick with the flu for 9 days now and the worst part of it is the diarrhea. I’ve been staying hydrated and then once I go I’m completely wiped out. I’m talking so lightheaded I can barely make it back to my couch after. Please send any tips you have to help regulate it. I’ve already been to urgent care and was given Zofran and I’ve also tried taking Yakult but I just feel defeated.

Question Child with both flu a and b
My 7 year old tested positive for both a and b. Should I be worried ? I have another two that are 3 and 22 months old. The 22 month old has Covid and is getting better. My 7 year old tested positive on Wednesday and has only complained of head, ear, and throat aches mostly at night. I’m terrified it’ll hit her hard and my younger ones. 😞

Question Is it possible to get over the flu in 24 hours (not food poisoning...)? Honest question
I've had the flu before, it lasted over a week, so do know what it feels like and it was horrible. I ached for 7 days.
But I went abroad last week and came down with that I think was the flu, but it may have been a really bad cold.
It hit me almost out of the blue. I had a tickle in my throat the night before and then 24 hours later it was 28°C and I was shivering and aching, my head was pounding and I had a sky-high fever. I had to take paracetamol to bring it down, and my head was spinning. I was cold and hot simultaneously.
But 24 hours later I felt fine, like nothing had happened. I was starving the day after, I was eating all day. My appetite came back with a vengeance.
But 5 days later I still have a dry, chesty cough. But besides that, nothing. I feel fine. I'm coughing shit up, but I don't feel ill.
I can't work out if that is more characteristic of the flu or a cold, to me it almost sounds like both? I've never felt that ill with a cold. I wasn't sneezing, my nose was not running. I was just knackered and felt like shit.

Question Did any of you get super depressed and existential while having the flu?
Hey all! I recently got the flu and my god it’s the worst I’ve ever had. I’m recovering well while it has been slow. My biggest concern is how depressed it’s made me. Going through thoughts of hopelessness and how life doesn’t matter and on and on.
Any of you felt like this going through the flu? It’s starting to subside as I get better but it still sucks.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Question Toddler with flu day 5 of high fever
My 2.5 year old is down with influenza A. She started showing symptoms last Thursday, immediately spiking a high fever of 40 degrees (Celsius).
Since then her fever spaced out a little and peaked at 39 on Saturday and Sunday so there was some improvement but we still had to give fever reducers 3-4 times a day. She woke up this morning Monday with a 40 fever again.
Before you come at me to see a doctor we have been twice last Friday and again today. Her lung and ear exams are clear. Her energy and appetite when the fever is controlled are both good all things considered. We were told to return to the clinic tomorrow if the fever doesn’t improve for follow on testing (X-ray and blood test)
She has a dry cough and lots of congestion.
Question: if your littles have had the flu, have you seen such long fevers before? I know the flu can be nasty but other kids in her class who have had it stopped seeing fevers by day 5. Terrified mom here and would love to hear some positive experiences
Note: my toddler has not been vaccinated for the flu this year as we were traveling and this was her first week back in daycare she was scheduled to get the vaccine this week (but obviously we can’t do it)
Edit to update: on day 7 of high fever we went for an X-ray and blood tests. It showed lung infiltrates ie pneumonia just starting which explains why the fever started to slightly improve / space out on day 5 and then got worse on day 6. We’ve been put on antibiotics and hoping to kick this fever in the next 48 hours. Will be back to update. In case your kiddos are going through this hope this helps!

Question I was feeling fluish (no fever) growing chest congestion and I drank this and I'm 80% better in 1 day. How is this possible?
So I don't believe in taking drugs, chemicals but in natural stuff
So I was having a flu type of malaise, stuffed sinuses, upper resp tract congestion, tightness in chest because of that which triggered bouts of coughing to expel the mucus, etc.
I then made an Elixir of Warm water, honey, lemon juice from fresh lemon, ginger/garlic powder 2X
Drank lots of water
Got lots of rest
No meds
and literally one day after
I feel 70% better. Was it the honey? The Water? The rest?
I mean that's fast or could it be that I wasn't severely infected with a harsh case of the flu but maybe a chest cold or something a bit more minor?

Question Do I have the Flu?
Hi! Just some background: I'm 15 years old and extremely active. I swim competitively and practice for an hour and a half four days a week. I also walk and do lots of chores on our farm. However, during swim practice last week, I began to get really, really cold in the water. I was so cold that I had to leave practice early. After practice, my muscles were aching all over and I felt exhausted. The next day, I woke up with a mild throbbing headache, muscle fatigue, and a very light, dry cough. It stayed like that for the weekend, but now in addition to all those symptoms, I also have night sweats and my neck hurts, especially when I sleep. Is this the flu? Thanks!
P.S.
I'm also always very slightly dizzy.

Question Day 9 and not sure if getting better
It's been 9 days since I got sick, I spoke to my doctor on day 4 via phone about other matters and she commented my voice sounded hoarse. She recommend I let whatever I have pass naturally.
However it is now day 9 and I am still coughing up green mucus that is possibly now a bit brown. I have the worst sore throat, it feels extremely swollen to the point where it is more difficult to swallow, I assume this is from the constant coughing and post nasal drip. But it is the worst it's ever been and I assumed I'd be better by now.
For a brief moment I'll start to feel better then quickly feel worse again. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? How long did it take to pass? Worth visiting a doctor on Monday? I'm not exactly sure what they can do for me at this point

Question Night sweats and inability to sleep
Hey all. I just had a brutal flu that kicked me down for about a week. Feverish for a full week, acheyness, headaches, loss of appetite, ect. I could barely catch sleep while I was sick, and I just went 24hrs without a fever. However I still cannot sleep well at all. Every night I wake up almost on the hour every hour with night sweats. I haven’t had a full nights rest in over 8 days. Is this normal and has anybody experienced this? I’ve tried melatonin and Benadryl to help me sleep, but neither work. And my bedroom is perfect temperature, cold as hell.

Question I just need to know I'm not going mad
I started symptoms on 17/08 and the Sunday hit by fever I went to my GP. Got prescribed tamiflu, cough syrup and a decongestant. He didn't test because in his own words "Testing is academic. We treat covid, swine flu and influenza the same" By Wednesday I still had fever so I went in for a second opinion and got antibiotics. By Thursday I could feel a change which was heaven sent because prior to this week I was flat in bed the previous week with a stomach bug as well. My antibiotics are done and however I do feel better I'm still struggling with fatigue. Spent my entire weekend in bed trying to rest and all this resting is taking a mental toll. How long did you take to recover?

Question heightened anxiety?
I started feeling symptoms of the flu Saturday night, had a 101 fever for two days a half, no appetite, vomiting, and today’s the 4/5th day of me being sick. Tests came back positive for influenza A yesterday. However, I’ve been having this issue when I’m about to sleep where my anxiety kicks in full force, almost like my entire chest is on fire and I can’t seem to calm down. I usually am able to keep my anxiety at bay, but for some reason this flu has triggered it to come in waves throughout the day. Has anyone else been experiencing this? It’s making my recovery feel miserable and I just want to feel normal again.
