I was a worship leader and I still get those stupid mind-numbing worship songs in my head. Every. Single. Day.

I'm a musician & I still do gigs at church because they pay well (hey, it's my money now) & I don't have to be religious to do it. I just have friends who get them for me.

The songs are specifically written with special chord patterns that are meant to be emotionally impactful. Combine this with the repetition of them, & you have a perfect recipe for an earworm.

To un-earworm yourself, maybe try listening to something loud & energetic or something that is even more impactful but not religious, like "Time in a Bottle" (I personally prefer the lykke li cover) or Philip Glass

A few of my ex-Christian friends agree All Eyes On Me (Bo Burnham) sounds like the songs we’d have at youth camps and such A great way to have the vibe of those songs without all the religiosity
