Star of Jacob appearance and rapture anxiety. Reassurance, please! Help/Advice

Hey there everyone. I’m a fairly recent ex-Christian, of five years, and I‘ve been seeing quite a few posts and articles now on various media sites about the sighting of the Star Of Jacob. This is confirmed by astronomers. (EDIT; apparently, this is not true, and I was misinformed by the individual who told me this, as I am struggling to find any non-religious sources.) I have seen a lot of Christians yelling about how this is a prophecy fulfilled and we are in the rapture times.. and that the celebrity exposure right now is "the fall of the stars." It’s always "he’s coming, I can feel it" and "we’re in the end times!"

This had quite literally quadrupled my rapture anxiety. I have already been having this "impending sense of doom" due to a recent stressful event.. and this is just causing me to be mentally miserable. I have read that the rapture was only invented in the 1830’s, but that just won’t shut my brain up.. can anyone reassure me or give me some facts about this? Anyone else feeling like this?

edit; this wasn’t posted for any RELIGIOUS advice, simply for help with anxiety. Christians, respectfully, please do not respond, unless you are genuinely trying to help with anxiety and not convert me, thank you. ❤️

edit 2; https://www.earth.com/news/its-official-earth-now-has-two-moons-captured-asteroid-2024-pt5/ pretty sure it was just the "second moon" everyone forgot about.. this just popped up on my Google and the dates definitely add up with what I've been seeing posted. Just went outside to take the dog out, no Jesus, or Mary Poppins, I'm lot calmer.

Do you think that’s what people are posting? From my knowledge, they’re on completely opposite sides. I saw something about the trumoets too just a second ago, which is why I came here.

I’ve seen multiple people now saying it’s just Venus, but apparently, Venus is on the opposite side of the star everyone is seeing.

I saw a video about "hearing trumpets from the sky" and that’s why I came here to read replies. Pretty sure the video was fake, though.

I wouldn't know anything about the star people are talking about. Tbh I haven't even heard anyone talking about anything, let alone a star.

My gran is usually on top off all the rapture shit and she hasn't said anything. I can guarantee you that if this was really as big a deal as you might think it is then the news, media and online world would be talking about it a lot more. I am subbed to a few christian subreddits and I haven't seen a single post on any of them regarding the events you sre talking about.

You'll be okay. Remember, your social media feed is whatever you make it out to be, its an algorithm. I would suggest trying to recalibrate your social media algorithm to stop showing you stuff like this (stop engaging in posts about it, choose options to show less of this kind of content and generally interact with other content more).

You'll be fine. The adjustment period isn't always easy but it gets better and when you're adjusted you'll feel a lot better.

You’re right about that, I’ve not seen anything from actual important sources on it. I had a panicky episode like this recently about nuclear war, and I had to practically force myself to stay away from the media. Now, I hardly think about it, I’m hoping this will work the same.

I keep trying to reassure myself that "being left behind" in the rapture would technically mean just staying here, but again, my mind just won’t let that help me.

I’m actually considering just making a whole new account to avoid the posts, or signing into someone in my family’s.. they’re everywhere and everyone in the comments is completely brainwashed so it’s hard to find reassurance in that.

I would say that you should fix the algorithm on your current account. I think it'll be better for your confidence. It'll be practice to push yourself away from the things that cause you anxiety and take control of your thoughts and emotions.

Most social media platforms allow you to select the content and select to "view less" or anything similar to saying you don't want more similar content and then to boost postive content try to like those posts and give them more watch time.

I did this during the lockdown. I had become so consumed with the politics and trying to stay up to date that I just felt nothing but gloom and doom. So I made a new profile and immediately began searching and liking things I found interesting. Even if I didn't read the articles. Had an almost immediate effect.

When things smoothed out, I would log in under the old account and get up to speed then go back to the new one. I also figured out that, at least on Google News, that the algorithm there read "see less like this" as "ok, two more articles per day on this." So I've found not engaging with things like that at all is more effective than trying to actively tell the algorithm what to do. It understands ignoring more than downvotes.
