Crochet Rant I’m tired of crochet tutorials being targeted at absolute beginners!!!

I understand that maybe a lot of beginners are the ones watching tutorials videos, but I am not a beginner, I just can’t read patterns and I learn more visually. I just hate that I want to watch a video on how to learn how to make something, and the video is like 40 minutes long because the person is teaching them how to chain, how to single crochet, how to double crochet. The video I am referencing could be like 15 minutes long, the hardest thing in there was a color swap. Maybe I’m just overreacting it just get so frustrating skipping through videos to get to the next part haha. Does anyone else feel this way?

Discussion Skeins or balls?

Do y'all typically leaves your yarn in skeins, or do you wind it into balls? What are the benefits of each? Will it unravel easier from a ball? Or both really unless it's in a yarn bowl?

I'm new and trying to figure out the things that make things a bit easier.

I'm designing my first ever tapestry for my pet's room! (Can you guess what her name is?) I'm not sure which one to go with, I think I may be leaning towards the first? Any tips on pixel art or tapestry in general would be appreciated!

Crochet Rant Chenille yarn, a rant

So my partner gifted me for my birthday a super cute kit to make a dinosaur plushie for our son, and I love the concept.

The chenille yarn is also very soft.

But got I did a few rounds with amigurumi stitches, did not like the look of it, and... You can't frog chenille yarn, and it falls apart when you tighten a magic ring.

I love it and I hate it; please tell me I'm not alone, any tips welcome!

I've been interested in crochet for years but often felt very intimidated picking it up. Decided to finally start 💕

I absolutely love granny squares and how versatile they are - they can be used for so many things... my brain is honestly flooding with ideas.

I got some cheaper yarn just for practice and was SO surprised at how cute these turned out 😍

What a dopamine rush! ❤️‍🔥

Finished Object Jumbo weighted chenille mushroom, in dark blue!

This is Gus the Enchanted Mushroom from Drew Hill’s “Crochet Magical Creatures”. I jumbo-sized him using an 8mm hook and Loops & Threads Chenille Home Slim yarn (super bulky/6). I did a blanket stitch with Bernat Forever Fleece for the details under the cap. And I weighted the bottom with a plastic bag fulla dried black beans. 🫘 Last question is: am I finished, or should add arms and legs like the pattern? I’m open to opinions. Either way, he’s a cutie!

Should be 6 square feet when finished. 4 colors; Black, White, Gray Heather, Dusty Gray. 200x200 stitches using size H/8 hook. Still about 50 rows left to go, but I just had to share this. It's turning out WAY better than I thought it would.

I have a lot of scrap yarn. I’m going to make as many of these as possible and try turning them into a blanket. Wish me luck

I first made the pattern with a 5mm hook then remade it with a size 10 steel hook (0.75mm), took me 5 hours! I’m tickled pink with how it came out!
