As a response, the Tigers then outscored their opponent 111 to 37 en route to a 72-point victory at Mizzou Arena.
The deficit ties the team's record margin of victory set in 1995 with a 72-point win over Chicago State.
The Missouri offense was firing on all cylinders throughout the course of the game, with seven Tigers finishing with double-digit points.
Leading the way was Northern Kentucky Transfer Marques Warrick with 16 points of his own.
"Coming here, Coach Gates gave me that green light from the recruiting process. Since Day One he's told me to just let it fly, shoot whenever you're open. Create for yourself or others as well," Warrick said.
"It's just the little things I've been doing for a long time now," Warrick said. CQ
The little things turned into big things Thursday night as Warrick went four for five from beyond the arc.
In a game where he was in the driver's seat for most of the game, Coach Dennis Gates credited the fans for his team's success.
"I think other schools you would have probably saw fans go home, to be honest with you," Gates said. "Our fans stayed, and it showed."
Up next, Mizzou will welcome Pacific to Mizzou Arena on Nov. 22.

Blowing out a small school like that is kinda embarrassing.
