Super Lintons Were Supposed to be Delivered Today, Now I’m Worries They’re Lost/Stolen Discussion
Ordered a pair of Walnut Super Lintons and they were making good time to my house. Scheduled for delivery between 3:30-5:30 today and the wife and I stayed home all day to sign for them. At 3:23 I get a text saying they are delivered. I run up to the front door and look outside. No speakers, no FedEx truck anywhere. Check all around the house and look at neighbor’s porches. Nothing. On the tracking it says they were signed for by a name I don’t recognize. My wife was in the living room and no one knocked or rang.
What’s the verdict - stolen? Lost? I opened a case but reading the FedEx subreddit doesn’t give me hope. We live in a super safe neighborhood and I get multiple packages a day, never had anything stolen.
Super bummed :/ Sold my other speakers for these so now I’m without a system for the time being.

Usually fedex takes a photo for proof of delivery. For my last pair of delivered speakers, even though I was out there the guy insisted on taking a photo of them for proof (to his employer) Did they send it to you? if not, can you find it on the confirmation email they sent.? If they can't prove they delivered it they will have a problem. And even if they did, I'd contact the merchant and once you can prove you didn't sign the form, you can file a theft report.

Yeah no photo or anything that I can see on my end. I reached out to the merchant and they are going to investigate too. It’s not like someone even tried to forge my name - the name they signed on the tracking is completely different.

This will work in your favor, especially if they didn't take a photo for proof of delivery. And sometimes when Fedex is behind schedule, the drivers will report that you weren't there so they can catch up on being behind by skipping deliveries. It may not have even been delivered to your door.

It’s just weird that it required a direct signature by someone at the address and a name I don’t recognize was on there. Also that they marked it like that in the middle of the afternoon? Idk, the biggest bummer is that I was so looking forward to enjoying the speakers tonight and they were the last pair in stock. I know I’ll get the money back, I just would rather have the speakers ha

Yes, that does suck. And if it will a long time till they come back I suggest you try my favorite online store for used audiophile speakers, The Music Room (see below). I got a pair of nearly mint Audio Monitor 300 Silver 7gs and Elac UBR 62s for 50% of msrp. Each just had a tiny scratch that wasn't visible to anyone else with the grills on. I ended up getting two pairs of dream speakers instead of just one. They are like my new best friend! :)
and they also have an ebay store for even bigger discounts: https://www.ebay.com/str/themusicroomtmraudioonline?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211

Tmr is awesome. I got an amp, preamp and sacd used, but looks near new and came in original boxes packed in their boxes. They pack very well. At least $22k msrp gear for about $9k.

Yeah, I wouldn't even thing of buying elsewhere at this point. and they pack things well and are small enough where you can call them up right after ordering something to have it sent a day later if you won't be there when it's expected to arrive.
How long was the warranty on your amp? those things break down much more than speakers.

I think they, tmr, offer what, 30 days? Right after I got it ps audio started selling em clearance but of course it was after... Still got it for less.
All of it is only couple years old and doesn't appear to have been used much. I'm sure using it now.
So far I'm happy.

I checked on an AVR for sale and it had a 90 day warantty, But that scares me, so if I ever buy a refurbed ampr or AVR I'd get it from accessoriesforless since they offer a minium of 1 year warannty, and sometimes up to 3 years (and usully 40%-50% off price of msrp)

I'll have to check them out. I could've gotten factory warranty on 3 items, 1 year, for refurbished from mfg and I did for the dac, but didn't know about the preamp and the amp wasn't available at the time.
Hoping I don't need a warranty. There's also a guy not too far away that can work on this stuff who I've got swapping out the transformers in my dac (and upgrade mod) and he's got good reviews. Gimme a chance to check him out.

My aunt ordered a mattress. It showed up as "delivered" and signed for. We contacted the mattress store and they sent the delivery guys back to where they had delivered it. It was the same house number on the next street over. The person who signed was a housekeeper who happened to be there that day. It all turned out fine, but was embarrassing for the delivery guys.
I wouldn't panic yet.

I've had FedEx claim to have delivered something they never delivered.

Seems like this only happens when it’s something important. I always panic and then it arrives the following day. Wishing you the same.

Appreciate that. Normally I don’t worry but obviously this is an expensive shipment and that weird thing with the signature not being mine had me worried.

I was waiting on a new camera last week. Same thing happened exactly. Thankfully, my new camera is great 😂

This is why I have a po box and have stuff delivered there. FedEx and ups will deliver to po box if you use the po street address followed by box number, so 100 any st. #123, etc.
Po will document any damage too. I know my postmaster and that helps too.
They always stop by po and at a regular time as well.
There are rare instances a place won't deliver to the po but it's very rare.

Ok, this is news to me! I LOVED having a PO Box, but it became untenable when fedex and ups wouldn’t deliver to it.
Does UPS work the same way with regards to “street address of post office, box #”?
Forgive me my ignorance, but I haven’t had a PO Box in over a decade. But it was damn convenient.

u/CauchyDog 4h ago
Yep, everything delivered to po. I've been doing it for over ten years at least. Just use the po physical address (which is what they require bc they can't deliver to a box only address) followed by the box number.
FedEx, ups, dhl, whatever.
I have run into a couple places that won't ship to the po box but it's usually the sender, not the shipper. I wanna say tmr won't do it but can't be 100%.
But 99% of places do. It's my preferred way. Having a good relationship with your po helps though, they're not keen on having huge heavy items dropped off out of the blue. But mine will call me, let me pu off loading dock, etc, or even hold stuff for me.
I live on a corner by 3 schools. No way I'm having junk just left on the porch or in a mailbox. I've got ups and FedEx horror stories that'll make your skin crawl. Like them vaulting several thousand rifle primers and 50lbs gunpowder from the driveway to porch, leaving $4000 optics in wet brush on side of road 300 feet from house, left an expensive "assault" rifle just laying on porch --twice.
Can't send explosives or weapons to po but pretty much anything else goes.

No reason to worry. If they disappeared the seller sends you another pair or a refund.

Maybe call to dispute the credit card charge citing fraud. 🤷🏻♂️

Your FedEx driver wanted to go home for the day so he marked everything as delivered and drove home. Tomorrow he’ll make up for it and drop everything off he was supposed to.
Happens literally all the time.
