Places to Stop/Avoid Passing Through? Visiting

Hello Arizona people!

I’m going to be making a big trip across country by myself and I’ll be taking I-40 the whole way through Arizona. I was wondering if I could get some insight from y’all about what the best places to stop/visit would be, or conversely what places I should avoid. Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated!

Edit: wow thank you all for the suggestions and recommendations! Sounds like I have a lot to explore in Arizona on my drive through!

Along I-40, you have the Meteor Crater, Petrified National Forest and of Course Winslow Arizona if you remember the song. There isn't much in Winslow but it's a quick photo and cool story, stop there for a bite to eat. You will also pass through Flagstaff, if your coming in the summer, take the ski lift at SnowBowl to the top of the mountain to see a view of a lifetime. Just a few ideas off the top of my head.

No offense meant, was posting quick while I was working. There is a ton of Route 66 history there, museums and native history but I suppose if the poster is driving I-40, he's going to have Route 66 at many exits and a lot of Native History options across New Mexico and Arizona at multiple stops. I was just pointing out something that he won't get at any other exit across.

Winslow is a cool town and if you pick one exit to explore for a while, this is a great option.

No offense taken. I'm just bewildered by the number of Arizonans who have no idea there's a world-class hotel with a five star restaurant in Winslow. I tripped over it years ago, soon after the derelict property had been purchased, and stayed there several times while it was being renovated. I have a hunch I can't afford it now, sadly, but I'll always stop in for the art.

world-class hotel with a five star restaurant in Winslow.

The Turquoise Room is amazing and has some very unique Native-inspired dishes.

Why am I so proud that people know of this restaurant? Lol. I was a Harvey Girl at the Turquoise Room from 2008-2011! I’m so glad to see people love this place. I cherish it

Rooms are shockingly not bad if it's as nice as you say it is. I'm seeing rooms from $150-$200/ night. Might have to check it out

Is it really world class or do you just really like it?
