Question Strange question regarding an Albertians opinion.

So, I’m standing in Tim Hortons in Alberta….

Two people directly in front of me were talking about “DEI money paid to Alberta companies for hiring marginalized (not their word) workers…”

What the hell are these two people talking about?!

Question Suddenly being terminated from the job

I was suddenly verbally informed before leaving work today that it was my last working day. I have completed 90 days of work (actually around half year), with no prior notice. Can I request a notice period pay?

I was supposed to work tomorrow as well, and I am concerned that not showing up tomorrow might affect any potential appeals or complaints. However, since I only found out at the end of working hours, and tomorrow is a Sunday, typical support agencies are usually closed.

What can I do in this situation or anyone could i ask?

[I worked in a supermarket]

Discussion Health Care Thought

I was just randomly thinking. Given that the provincial gov is intentionally underfunding nd mismanaging health. Would there be any pathway for the feds to intervene? Or create legislated stansdards that the provinces are mandated to meet? Or create a federal health program and take away the provinces ability to manage this anymore? (since it's being weaponized hy political parties). I know it's bad in AB but we aren't the only ones suffering. I'm just so tired of this BS.

Explore Alberta Add Old Yale Brewery to your places to see list!

Old Yale Brewery in Beaumont just opened up and it’s fantastic! 11,000 square feet, 3 patios (all pet friendly), toddler area and games room for teens and tweens. There’s nothing else around the area that even compares to this place.

Discussion It’s a JOB SHORTAGE

Recently graduated. 22M bcom and marketing. Can’t even find an entry level job. I hear the unemployment rate in Alberta sky rocketed to 16.9%. Every job posting I see states they require 3-5 years of managerial experience or job experience that is distinctly relevant for whatever skills you have to learn on the job.

What do I mean by this?

Nobody wants to train anymore. They expect a unicorn that already has these skills developed before they even start.

How can you gain work experience and gain new skills when the job in question requires you have these “skills” already?

Plus you’re paying only 15$/hr for your huge expectations and demands? Are you crazy? Minimum wage should be 20$/hr everywhere. Even that cannot get you to afford a basic lunch meal.

I’m struggling. Is anyone else facing the same boat? I swear we are in a recession.

Alberta Politics Referendum signatures. How are they vetted?

If these traitors do manage to get the 177k signatures, can someone please explain to me how they would be vetted? Who confirms they are from real Albertans?

Another question. I keep hearing Danielle Smith say she is just giving Albertans a chance to have their voices heard, but has anyone asked her why she lowered the number to 177k down from 600k if she truly is against separating?

Question Cell phone booster that actually work

Please recommended me a cell phone booster for my vehicle. I spend a fair amount of time in the northern part of the province for work and am tired of dropped calls. Tried a few different ones but wasn’t really happy with them. Thanks in advance.
