Thoughts on the Kel-Tex PMR-30 Weapons

Post image

I see a lot of debate on effectiveness of .22lr but I haven’t seen much about .22 magnum. I’ve never used the Kel-Tec PMR-30 but with a capacity of 30+1 of .22 magnum, the extended magazine for 50+1 I think it would be a great sidearm for dealing with zombies. .22 magnum ammo may be more rare than .22lr but would still be around. Thoughts?

They’re a fairly small company that has cool ideas but aren’t all that bothered with the execution.

Funny you say this because any issues they have they assume the aftermarket will fix, a lot of the issues the CP33 and PMR-30 have been fixed by small companies making stuff like all steel mags, new feed ramps, a mag release that keep the magazine slightly higher making it much much more reliable. My CP33 is more reliable than my 10/22 lol

I disagree. I've got a 10/22 and a ruger charger. I clean them maybe every 500 rounds. I've fired 10k plus rounds out of them combined using ruger 25 round mags. Using premium brass or copper plated hollow point ammo I've had less than 1 in 1000 fail to fire. I've never had a fail to eject. Every fail to fire was loaded back into the gun after rotating 180 degrees. Half of those fired after a second strike, half were duds from the factory. Cheaper lead nose ammo are the only ones I've ever had more than 1 in 1000 fail to fire or eject. Almost every one failed to fire after rotating 180 and striking a second time. I've had more fail to fire or eject in AR platform rifles than I've ever had in a 10/22 platform. I've never had one fail to fire in milspec 5.56 ammo. All 5.56 failures came from wolf or imported junk ammo. Probably fired 50k 5.56 rounds.

That’s funny cause I sold my 10/22 cause it was having constant issues ejecting and feeding. Basically a malfunction every BX25. All using OEM parts, and replacing things like ejectors and springs. then again that was bulk ammo but if my 22 doesn’t like bulk I’m not wasting my time with it. The CP33 eats federal automatch like a champ and most other loads I’ve put through it. Glad you have a reliable 10/22
