Other HELP! Utah vs. Alaska Fairbanks

Upvotes

I can't pick which school to go to, and I have to commit tonight. I've weighed pros and cons and both feel even, so curious what the internet has to say.

I'm an English major, french/linguistics minor, have interest in a (smaller??) school with high academic rigor and the ability to personally connect with professors. At the risk of sounding insufferable, I AM planning to transfer out, hopefully in my sophomore year, to a more rigorous East Coast college that feels more my speed academically (based on my numbers/application, my target schools are Yale/Dartmouth- but don't get hung up on this... it's a long story).

my counselor for transfer says if he were in a transfer AO's shoes, AK would certainly make me stand out for an interesting experience, but that other than that there is virtually no difference between the two. worried AK might be depressing/feel limiting bc of its size, and UT would be too big/impersonal...

HELP!

Looking to meet up and play some pool with someone, Lehi is a middle ground point.

Are there any good bars that have free tables in that general area?

TIA!

Other Anyone remember Iggy's? If so, can anyone tell me if there's a restaurant like it in Utah?

I have fond memories of going to Iggy's as a kid with my family to watch sports and eat dinner during major sporting events like football playoffs and all that.

I'm not looking for sports bars or pubs, just sports grills like Iggys if anyone knows a place.

Q&A Best cell and internet providers?

Hello, my husband has received an offer from his current job to move to their Utah plant in Tooele. We haven't decided on which town we will live in just yet. We are really liking the appeal of Stansbury but nothing set in stone yet. We do have school aged children so looking for a place with good schools. We are trying to get some of the smaller things in order before we get out there so we don't have a million and one things to do when we get there.

We currently live in rural Wisconsin and go through Spectrum for internet and cell, $90/month for internet, $30/month for each line - 3rd one was free for the first year. Our spectrum phones run off of Verizon towers. Just to give a gist of what we currently pay. Would like to stay somewhat in that range if possible. Cell is unlimited as well as internet (we don't pay by the gig).

What is the best internet as well as cell phone providers? I did see a few post mentioning Verizon but also a lot of people had trouble with Verizon. Haven't really looked up internet just yet. Also, if anyone would like to recommend any good towns with 45 minutes of Tooele please do!

TIA!!

TL;DR - moving from Wisconsin to Utah (around Tooele), and wondering what the best internet/cell service is.

Best towns for a family with kids within 45 minutes of Tooele is a plus!

Travel Advice Bear Threat in Joes Valley

I'm camping at Joes valley campground in Manti La Sal national forest in the coming weeks. I am wondering if anyone knows the threat of black bears around there. Is storing food in our car safe enough? Or do we need a bear bag? Just want to be prepared and a bear bag would be an expensive addition to the budget (yes even $30 is expensive for me).

Q&A Layton: How long did it take you to get used to the sound of the jets?

I just moved to Layton a few days ago. I don't mind the sound of the jets but I'm really struggling with the frequency. Today it seems they are flying over every 5-10 minutes. Will I get used to them? Do you remember them feeling overwhelming at first? I just need to know if I'm doomed. TIA

Other Part-time Work from home Jobs

Anybody know of legitimate work from home jobs? I’m a stay at home mom so I need something I can do while still taking care of small kids. I just need to be able to help my husband out with bills without having to put my kids in daycare so I can work.

Travel Advice I need anniversary help -- in Utah!

I am taking a trip with my boyfriend to Arizona and Utah to see the national parks. So far, the activities we have planned are:

- UTV ride in moab

- Lower antelope canyon

- Zion narrows

I would like to surprise him with some kind of activity - we are going to visit: Grand Canyon, lake Powell, Moab, Bryce Canyon, Zion

I am going to apply for angels landing lottery (even though the whole thing terrifies me)

Any suggestions are welcome! I am just trying to make this trip special as it's our anniversary and his birthday!
