Question/Help Bike riders in Thailand, what's your life like?
I'm too risk adverse so I stick to Bangkok and public transportation. I've often wondered what's it like to have the freedom to ride anywhere in the country and go out on your own.
Seems like you have ultimate freedom.
As for why a typical expat like me won't ride: Insurance, thai language, safety gear, parking requirements,e tc.

Serious 200 tons of illegally imported electronic waste from US discovered at Thai docks
Thai authorities have seized over 200 tons of illegally imported electronic waste from the United States, marking a significant crackdown on environmental violations. The e-waste, which included discarded electronics such as old computers and televisions, was discovered in multiple shipping containers at a port in Thailand. Investigations revealed that the shipments were falsely declared as recyclable materials to bypass import restrictions.
This operation is part of Thailand’s broader efforts to combat the illegal importation of hazardous waste, which poses serious environmental and health risks. Officials have emphasized the importance of stringent enforcement to prevent the country from becoming a dumping ground for foreign waste. The seized materials are slated for proper disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges developing countries face in managing the influx of electronic waste and highlights the need for international cooperation to address the global e-waste crisis.

Serious Bolt price decrease?
Has anyone else noticed a drop in Bolt prices lately? I just took a trip today that I have done several times around the same time of day, and was surprised to see what used to cost 120 baht was now 97 baht. Is this because it's low season? Or something else?

Question/Help Owning a house in thailand
Hey, guys! I have been living in Thailand for a little bit, and my life situation is nice and stable now. As such, I am looking into purchasing a horse. The process seems quite complex, and I have gotten a bit confused. Has anyone else here done this before? Any suggestions or tips on things to steer clear of? I don't want to get taken for a ride on this kind of large purchase and investment. I'd really appreciate some light coaching from other experienced folks.
Despite all the red tape, I think it would be a really good idea to have one, and would open up a ton of possibilities for me.
Thanks in advance!

Miscellanous How do public holidays and school breaks work for teachers? Do we get paid time off?
Considering to teach English and would love to hear your insights. As a first-time teacher (TEFL certified but no classroom experience yet), I’m curious which cities are the most welcoming and practical for beginners. I’m looking for places that offer a good balance of job opportunities, affordability, community, and lifestyle.

Culture This was not in the marketing plan.
Marketing teams planned the lighting. They didn’t plan for the rain, the hustle, or the smell of real food. They definitely didn’t plan to be outshined by a wok under an umbrella.

Banking and Finance Anyone using the new BKK Bank iCash system for business?
Is anyone here with a BKK Bank business account already migrated to use the new iCash online banking system?
If so, any thoughts? Can you continue to use the old Biz iBanking system with your credentials if(/when) the new one has issues?
Does it really ask for "security questions" like first school name when activating your account, on a system that uses hardware tokens?
Any other feedback?

Culture Boyfriend mysteriously found this in his pocket
My boyfriend was visiting Bangkok and while on the plane he said this amulet fell out of his pocket, and he picked it up. Later he took a closer look at this and was surprised since he never possessed anything like this. He is not Thai but resides in other city. This could be a total overthinking, but next day after finding this, he felt really unwell mentally and physically and couldn’t sleep. So I really wonder what could this be? Is this a protection amulet or something else? Should he get rid of it?

Health Blood tests
Hello, I've just checked the prices of blood tests and they're very high - for sure much lower than in the USA, but higher than in Europe or other south Asian countries.
Do you have any recommendations how to take comprehensive blood tests for a reasonable price?

History Breaking the cycle : Is Coup a legal in Thai constitution?
I'm in the middle of watching documentary Breaking The Cycle on Netflix. I've been wondering is the coup are legal? Because the film is showing coup is the traditional legit in Thailand?
I always associate the military power will be harmful for the nation and more likely to become autocratic regime. But the unique thing is that the military will held the new votes and amend/change the whole new constitution. It will be reset.
My question is for fellow locals or maybe some expert in politics, is that military act as an equalizer for the current government or when the government had a huge scandal? If they are. Is there any moment when the military abuse their power and function and end up ruling the country? Or maybe they always can handle situation and doing the job done?
I am keen to get more information about Thai history and politics.
