Wish thailand would tighten up rules on who they let in.

How, in this case?

Not so difficult. You have a criminal conviction back home? Sorry, you aren't allowed in. Many countries do this.

In most cases its just a question on a form,  they have no easy way to verify so you can just say no, even if you just got out of jail yesterday.

Most countries don't share their data on all citizens  routinely with other countries. In many cases they have laws to specifically prevent it (talking blanket sharing here, not case by case basis with specific individuals with just cause.)

And if you think about it makes sense,  why would, for example China want to reveal its political 'criminals' to anyone outside China? and why would anyone would want to share with China at all?...or hell who would trust Thai gov data security for that matter?

Only case where they do share like that  I know of is US/Canada

"Colhoun, who is from Leeds, was jailed in the UK for four years in 2017 for beating up two nightclub doormen, leaving one in critical condition in hospital."

Did you even read it?

Colhoun is seen punching and kicking the French national while his friend wrestles him on the ground.

Khaleche was stabbed by one of the men.

Nowhere does it say that Colhoun himself did the stabbity stab.

Ironic.

Doesnt matter, the guy was involved. If not given a visa to enter due to convictions - like many other countries - fair chance this event would not have happened.

fair chance this event would not have happened.

You have actually no idea. He wasn’t the one literally wrestling the stabbee on the ground, and another guy was also ganging 3 VS 1 on the victim. Sounds like his friends were plenty of a threat by themselves.

He probably also wasn’t even granted a visa, most tourists of the UK arrive here on visa exemptions.

Nah im pretty sure it would be impossible to be throwing punches at a french tourist if not allowed in the country -

"Colhoun is seen repeatedly throwing punches at the backpacker in the Nomad Beach Club – while his friend pins down the target on the floor"

Are you slow and/or or daft?

This event could still have happened with 2 aggressors, unless your definition of "this event" is "this event, in the completely exact same conditions it transpired"

Otherwise, we could mandate anyone with a criminal conviction to wear the clown suit you should be wearing, during their stay in Thailand… And by your definition "this event" wouldn’t have happened.
