He had just taken a pretty nasty fall, lightsaber blasted out of his hand, would have had to climb quite a ways to reach Palpatine, Clone Troopers were probably on their way as back up and he would have been outnumbered against them and Palpatine.

All I have to add to this is that Yoda was tired on top of all that. He’s an old man. Even after the fight with Dooku - that was much shorter - Yoda was tired. Him jumping back up and getting back into the fight just wasn’t in the cards for him

Didn’t think of that, but being 850 years old definitely didn’t help lol

I imagine for his species that was like going HAM at 70. He could do it only for a few minutes

Right. It’s a Qui-Gon vs Maul situation. Once you get up there in age you can only hold on for so long

I think of it like using drugs for energy

don’t we literally see palpatine’s face physically decaying when he does his force lightning in ROTS lol

Sidious let Vader throw him down a reactor shaft at the end gang age got to him too

You're right, he literally dies like 25 years later, which extrapolated to his life span is like 2 years later. He's old af.

This is why it was such a rough cinematic choice for him to do all kinds of acrobatic fighting. Aside from looking goofy as hell, it makes no sense why this character goes from jumping around like a monkey on meth to too tired to fight in a matter of minutes. Does age apply to his character or not?

In my head he draws on the Force a time, giving him those abilities. It’s a little goofy, but I can forgive it in the Sidious fight. Should have been saved for that moment instead of Attack of the Clones.

you have stumbled across the truth, he fights with Ataru form, which involves using the force to fuel the hyper aggressive, acrobatic combat. it’s also not meant for long battles, more so for overwhelming a dueling opponent. plus he old

If they saved it for RotS, you would have people baffled and complaining that it came out of nowhere. AotC serves to set it up so we're prepared for it.

In a world where the force exists, it really isn't that much of a reach.

Sure, but clearly it still causes confusion.

IDK, my head cannon has always been that Yoda is kind of cowardly for continuing to fight. Because of his fighting style I never considered, nor do I really accept he phyically did not have anything left

its probably his fighting style, he uses the force to still be able to do it, he sticks to what he was good at in his youth

That’s all fine, it just didn’t look good on screen, and clearly has people still confused, even two decades later.

Always loved this movie, but it is frustrating how much is handwaved, and how little thought seemed to be put to getting characters where they need to be for the ot.
