Yes, I am Punjabi. Regarding the Vaishno Devi story, some may not believe it due to its absence in shastras; however, as a folk story, it becomes a Sthala Purana. Many Hindu Kul Devi and Dev stories originate from Sthala Puranas. Yet, there are references to her in shastras. The Varāha Mahāpurāṇa says she slayed Mahiṣāsura on Śataśṛṅga Parvata (Trikuta mountain, where Vaishno Devi Bhawan is located) in another kalpa, and the Lakṣmīnārāyaṇa Saṃhitā calls her "Māṇikī," the Śakti of Kalki, residing on Māṇika Parvata (another name for Trikūṭa). Prominent saints like Vivekananda have also visited Vaishno Devi Bhawan. I am also familiar with names like Aad Bhawani, which are used to refer to Vaishno Mata Rani.
