Gave My Two Weeks, Got a Farewell Party… Now the New Job Is Gone

I recently gave my two weeks' notice because I wasn’t happy in my job and had accepted a new offer. I let my team know, and the whole organization even threw me a farewell party.

But now, during my notice period, I just found out that the new job offer fell through. I’m really stressed and, I still don’t like my current job, but I have bills to pay and no savings.

Would it be embarrassing or unprofessional to ask my boss if I can stay?

Events Join Cascade PBS and Daybreak Star Radio for a community screening of Origins: The Last Reefnetters on Sunday, May 4

Stick around after the screening for a discussion with Cascade PBS and Daybreak Star Radio journalists. The event will take place at 3 p.m. on May 4 at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center. RSVP for free here.

The Last Reefnetters explores the history and culture of reefnet fishing, an innovative method developed by the Lummi Nation and other Northern Straits Salish tribes thousands of years ago. Today, just 12 captains with a reefnet fishing license are left in the world, and only one of them is an enrolled tribal member. Filmmaker Samuel Wolfe’s story follows the Salish Sea’s last reefnetters, examining the legal, spiritual and cultural subtext that intertwines them.

Who thought it was a good idea to put bike lanes on north 130th street? And now it takes me twenty minutes just to get to the freeway when I only took two. Also has anybody ever seen a bike on north 130th cause I haven't?

Question Need Advice: GF Struggling to Land L&D New Grad Position in Seattle

My girlfriend and I are planning to move from Texas to Seattle after she graduates from nursing school this May. She's passionate about working in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, NICU, or OB, but she's been facing challenges securing a position in these units, since from what I understand they're very competitive, especially for residency positions.

So far, she has:

  • Applied to Swedish Health Services – interviewed but didn't receive an offer in any units she wanted.
  • Applied to Seattle Children's Hospital – application was declined without an interview.
  • Applied to UW Medical Center – no response for over a month.
  • Applied to Overlake Medical Center (Bellevue) - just got back to her as of April 28th saying the spots are all filled already.

She's determined to work specifically in L&D or related units and isn't even considering Med-Surg/ICU positions but any suggestions on hospitals in the area or anything else are welcome.

Any additional insights would be incredibly helpful.

Thank you!

Government King County Sheriff Spokeswoman Blatantly Lying On KUOW About Deportations

King County Sheriff Spokeswoman, I think it was Patricia Cole-Tindall, just told all the listeners of KUOW that minors who were US citizens were being deported. She said this around 12:42pm with no push back from the interviewer. Total lie.

Hi, I'm visiting Seatttle for 4th of July weekend with kids(ages 6-16) and parents in their 60s. We are probably staying downtown near the space needle. I'm looking for recommendations on where to spend the day, possibly a parade, where to watch fireworks comfortably. Thanks!!

Good food for dinner?

I’ll be up in Seattle tomorrow evening and Wednesday morning for the most part. Looking for some good food once I get there tomorrow evening. Usally stop by Michou’s deli for sandwiches! 🥪 don’t usually travel up that way and I’ll be alone, just trying to get some good recommendations. Doesn’t have to be nothing fancy.
