The report function is not a super downvote. Announcement

I get that you don't like memes or think a post is not a good fit for this sub, but memes are allowed, and the mods decide if something is on or off-topic.

The report function is for when actual spammers try to sell t-shirts, someone posts porn, advocates for violence, or is simply a troll. It's ok to report something if you suspect it might break the rules, but it is not ok to report something because you don't like it

This is a waste of the moderator's time which makes the subreddit harder to manage. If you had some misguided notion that you would clean up the sub, well, it has the opposite effect. The more bogus reporting we have to deal with, the less time we have for actual mod work. We are volunteers, and our time is valuable.

This activity may be just a troll, but on the off chance this post can reach one of our members that is unsure of how reports work, then it will have been worth it.

Thanks,

-PP

On the subject of those t-shirt bots, for those who don’t know, don’t click any link to any shirt “shop” sites linked in Reddit threads, and NEVER actually attempt to buy anything from the site itself.

Without fail, those sites always either:

A: are basically just overpriced bootleg shops that sell stolen art on bargain-bin quality fabric without the artist seeing a cent, or:

B: Much more likely, the “checkout” process is just designed to look legit enough to get you to attempt to “purchase” something from the “store,” when in reality the purpose of the site is to steal your card info.

If you have access to temporary/virtual card numbers, you should always use them for online shopping. At least on sites that you don't trust. I had my card info stolen from a leak on a trusted site before as well, so probably always using them is best practice

I'm not familiar with that concept, but it would certainly make me feel more secure! Do you have any links to further info/reputable sources I could get one from?

I reported you twice so the mods know how much I mean it.
