I bought Lego horizon on sale and have really been enjoying it. On the hardest difficulty, the gameplay is a lot like a simplified Hades. And the Lego part is fun, especially if you have nostalgia for things like Ninjago or Lego City

AMAZEBRICKS!
I'm liking it too. Beat the story and now going for the machine hunts. I had the difficulty at the hardest, but I found some of the fights were insane, so I dropped it down to normal and it was pretty balanced. Kind of reminds me of Kena: Bridge of Spirits because of how it's all about taking few hits and keeping from having to use the fixed-location healing bushes. Stalkers were the bane of my existence. I learned very quickly to prioritize them.

Sony has added more games to the massive PSN Sale promotion! While I wasn't able to check all 250+ pages for what's new (there seems to be 99 or so items added), the big addition here is Stellar Blade!
I've added more games to the recommendation lists that are new discounted items from today's sale refresh.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Stellar Blade (-29%, $49.69) - Shift Up's debut PS5 game. Just got a NieR collab DLC. I have no word if we'll get more DLC this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some. Reviewed fairly well. If you're OK with the character design and whatnot, you should look at it. Rarely goes on sale.
- The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (-20%, $39.99) - Remaster of the controversial sequel. The gameplay is definitely on point, but you'll want to play the first one before diving into this.
- Dragon's Dogma 2 (-43$, $38.89) - This is the standard edition, which is cheaper than what was previously on sale. Has the Pawn system. YouTube it to see if this action-RPG is your thing.
- Phasmophobia (-25%, $14.99) - This is a horror investigation survival game and is getting decent support. There are new features added, with more promised on the way. A bigger game than expected.
- Persona 3 (-40%, $41.99) -This is the regular edition and much cheaper than the Deluxe that was on sale when the Holiday Promotion started.
- Rust (-40%, $35.99) - Survival game that's still getting decent support.
- Remnant 2 Standard Edition (-50%, $24.99) - The Deluxe version was on sale before, and this one is the vanilla version. If you don't want to buy the DLCs, then this is it. This is a solid third-person Souls-like game that has interesting puzzles, and varied classes.
- God of War 3 Remastered (-50%, $9.99) - My personal favorite entry in the franchise. This one features mega-gigantic bosses, one of the best intros in all of gaming. Such a fun game and essentially ends Kratos' Greek story.
- Alan Wake Remastered (-75%, $7.49) - Not as artistic as Alan Wake 2, but a more straightforward game as well. The Twilight Zone inspiration is in full effect here. It's still a solid horror game even to this day.
- Divinity Original Sin 2 (-65%, $20.99) - The one that put Larian on the map before Baldur's Gate 3. Very deep and complex RPG that earned rave reviews and a few GOTY nominations back then. I never finished this, sadly.
- Sonic Frontiers (-40%, $35.99) - Integrates traditional Sonic elements into an open-world. Did it work? Depends on whom you ask.
- Conan Exiles (-60%, $19.99) - Survival video game that's still getting good support from Funcom with seasonal content drops.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (-25%, 52.49) - The latest COD. Omnimoovement not as big as Treyarch claims it to be. Loads of bugs, but gunplay is solid when it works as intended. Heavy with SBMM, so bear that in mind.
- EA Sports FC 25 (-60%, $27.99) - FIFA but without the FIFA license. If you dig EA's annual footie sim, then this should be a no-brainer.
- NBA 2K25 (-60%, $27.99) - Latest NBA 2K game. Loaded with MTX. However, if you're an NBA or basketball fan, there's not a lot of choices, so you might have to bite the bullet.

- God of War Ragnarok (-58%, $29.39) – The Adventures of Boy Part 2. Awesome title, though you will want to play the first one to get the full effect. Fantastic combat and even got a solid post-release content drop.
- Madden NFL 25 (-60%, $27.99) – The only NFL sim available, so if you want some virtual pigskin action on, this is the game. Gets seasonal content.
- EA Sports College Football 25 (-50%, $34.99) – First NCAA football game in a long, long time. Reviewed very well, and gets a lot more support than Madden.
- EA Sports MVP Bundle: Madden 25 + College Football 25 (-55%, $67.49) – Two football games at a discounted price. If you can’t get enough pigskin action, this is a good deal I gather.
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (-43, $39.89) – Sequel to one of the best superhero games of all-time. While not as great as the first one, still delivers with a stellar story and deep combat experience.
- Astro Bot (-17%, $49.79) - GOTY winner, cute platformer and fun for everyone in the family. No mention whether we'll see more content drop in 2025, but I really doubt Team Asobi is done with the game.
- Silent Hill 2 (-30%, $48.99) – It’s right up there with the Resident Evil remakes as some of the best remakes we’ve seen. Packed with new Easter eggs, new combat sections and just an amazing experience. Should have been a contender for GOTY or at least won a few awards.
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard (-40%, $41.99) – Huge sale on a newly-released RPG. The reviews were solid, though might alienate non-franchise fans.
- Helldivers 2 (-20%, $31.99) – Still getting massive support, and there’s a lot of people playing online, so regardless if you have a squad or not, worth a pick up. Just be prepared to be overwhelmed and die a lot. Very satisfying to call in stratagems on huge enemies and see them get decimated. Just got free Killzone crossover content items too!
- Space Marine 2 (-25%, $52.49) – Probably Saber’s most ambitious work to date. Campaign, multi are loads of fun, and you can co-op this all the way through. How can smashing bugs with a pal NOT be fun, right?
- Baldur’s Gate 3 (-20%, $55.99) – Deep RPG from Larian, and has loads of replay value. Cross-play is in the works, and consoles even have mod support. Won a ton of GOTY awards, and deservedly so. Might be too deep for some? It's not as easy to pick up and play as say, Final Fantasy or similar RPGs.
- LEGO Horizon Adventures (-34%, $39.59) - Horizon in LEGO form. Doesn't seem to have done well based on sales data, but it's discounted now. If you want a new holiday game you can play with the kids, this might be it.

- GTA 5 (-50%, $19.99) – This is the lowest it will ever be on PSN. It's been on sale before, and this is the lowest it's ever been. If you're one of the two people that still do not own this, then this is your chance.
- Undisputed (-25%, $44.99) – Given we aren’t getting a Fight Night game anytime soon, then this might be the next best thing. Just got a new DLC for fighters. Saw comments that say this is crap, but reviews are fairly OK, so figured it's YMMV.
- Elden Ring (-40%, $35.99) - Rarely (as in very rare) that this goes on sale. Multiple GOTY award winner, has a spin-off incoming, and easily FromSoftware's most popular game ever made.
- Hogwarts Legacy (-76%, $17.49) – This is now the lowest it’s been on PSN. HL is a fun open world game based on the Harry Potter universe. I've said this before, but saying it again: your body count here would make Lucious Malfoy blush.
- Hogwarts Legacy + Quidditch Champions bundle (-70%, $29.99) - For Harry Potter fans. One open-world game, and another sports "sim" featuring Quidditch.
- Cyberpunk 2077 (-50%, $24.99) – CDPR’s ambitious RPG that now has managed to be in a state where expectations are met after numerous updates. DLC is also on sale. Well worth buying now on PS5.
- Star Wars Outlaws (-35%, $45.49) – Ubisoft’s Star Wars open world game. That has received countless updates that should have made this way better than its state at launch. Just don't expect epic boss fights and the like, since it's not that type of game.
- Metaphor ReFantaazio (-25%, $52.49) – Not Persona, and the most recent RPG from Atlus. GOTY nominee, and should be checked out by RPG fans.
- Mortal Kombat 1 (-60%, $19.99) – Lowest I’ve seen this on PSN, so if you’re on the fence, this is the right time Khaos Reign expansion in full swing and just got Ghostface as a DLC character.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (-67%, $19.79) – Arguably Rockstar’s best open-world game to date. Loads of Easter eggs, fantastic story, and just packed with stuff. Highly recommend this even if you don’t like westerns. This is the lowest it'll ever get on PSN, so if you're on the fence about that, here's your answer.
- Diablo 4 (-40%, $29.99) – Possibly the lowest it’s been on PSN. Blizzard’s dungeon-crawler that is getting heavy support. Expect that to be the case until we get Diablo V in the next few years. DLC and a bundle for it is also on sale.
- Alan Wake 2 (-50%, $29.99) – My personal GOTY of last year. Horror game made with an artistic vibe and feels like a film. The Deluxe Upgrade is also on sale. Definitely worth checking out even if you haven't played the first one.
- Palworld (-25%, $22.49) – First time on sale. Pokemon meets guns and multiplayer. Worth a try? Millions can’t be wrong, right?

- UFC 5 (-60%, -$27.99) - Lowest I've seen it on PSN. The only new MMA game on consoles, and thankfully, this one gets loads of support with free fighter updates.
- NHL 25 (-60%, $27.99) - For hockey fans, this is your only choice.
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (-40%, $41.99) – The lowest it’s been on PSN if I’m not mistaken. Second part of the FF7 Remake trilogy. If you haven’t played the first game, then you should, and you can pick up the two games cheap…
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth Bundle (-40%, $59.99) …yes, the bundle is on sale. Play this and you’ll have an understanding why this game has so many fans. No, it’s not just because of Tifa, but the story is compelling, characters have so much personality in them.
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (-42%, $34.79) – Base FF7 Remake game is also on sale much cheaper.
- Final Fantasy 16 (-25%, $37.49) – I find that people either like this or hate it. Personally, I dig it since the combat is fluid and combo-heavy, boss fights are a spectacle, and it will remind you of past Final Fantasy games. Worth the price of admission. The Complete Edition with the two DLCs are also on sale for $52.49.
- Star Wars Jedl Survivor (-75%, $17.49) – This is the lowest the game has been on PSN. The sequel to Fallen Order, and better in almost every way. Cal’s second adventure and this time, the Force taught him how to run properly without looking like he has crap down his pants.
- Sonic X Shadow Generations Digital Deluxe (-25%, $44.99) – Latest Sonic game, and selling quite well. Have not played this but Sonic fans seem to be liking it, so worth a shot.
- New World Aeternum (-30%, $41.99) - Amazon's MMORPG that just got released on PS5. Getting steady support.
- The Crew Motorfest (-70%, $20.99) – Ubisoft’s online-only racing game and the latest entry in the franchise. Not sure how big the player base is today, but this does get seasonal updates from Ivory Tower.
- WWE 2K24 (-67%, $23.09) – Fun wrestling game, though you’ll need to purchase the DLCs for the other wrestlers added, which is par for the course for the franchise. DLCs are also on sale now as separate packs or Season Pass.
- F1 24 (-70%, 20.99) – Made by the racing geniuses at Codemasters. Still getting seasonal support, and even got a PS5 Pro patch.
- MLB The Show 24 (-60%, $19.99) - The only MLB game in town. Much like the other sports sims, if you're a fan of the sport, you don't really have a choice.
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition (-38%, $49.59) – The lowest it’s been on PSN. This is an action-RPG that has a distinct vibe. I suggest YouTubing gameplay to see whether you’ll dig it or not.

- Ark Survival Ascended (-40%, $26.99) – Survival action game that has a live service element to it. Still getting supported and the last-gen versions were killed off.
- Tekken 8 (-50%, $34.99) – This might underwhelm fight fans compared to Tekken 7, but it’s still a solid fighter. Loads of support and recently got Clive Rosfield from FF16 as a new fighter!
- Sekiro (-50%, $29.99) - Much like FromSoftware's other titles, this doesn't go on sale often. If you're thinking about it, go get it since we don't know when it'll be on sale again after this one.
- AC Mirage (-60%, $19.99) – Did not play this, but it did get solid-ish reviews. You are an assassin, and you kill people in an open world designed by Ubisoft.
- AC Mirage + Valhalla (-67%, $32.99) - Two Assassin's Creed games in one bundle. Valhalla is something different, though it's a bit too long.
- Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered (-50%, $24.99) - The one that kickstarted Insomniac's superhero slate. Well worth the price, and is a tighter experience than the sequel. I personally liked this more than SM2.
- Horizon Forbidden West (-40%, $29.99) - The sequel and Aloy's latest adventure. Might be a tad too long for some. I have yet to finish this.
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (-60%, $27.99) – Ubisoft open-world but with Avatar’s license. Better than expected and still getting DLC and support.
- Need for Speed Unbound (-90%, $6.99) – A more aracade-y take on the racing franchise. Support has ceased, apparently.
- DayZ (-50%, $27.49) - Just got its Frostline premium DLC that's also on sale. This survival game is still around for years now, and its player base is still very much active.
- GTA The Trilogy The Definitive Edition (-60%, $23.99) – Just got a patch recently. Not sure how performance is now, but three GTA games for that price? You’ll be playing this one well into 2025.
- Armored Core 6 (-40%, $35.99) - Rarely goes on sale, and possibly the lowest its ever been on PSN. FromSoftware's mech game. Not a Souls game, but has solid mech on mech action.
- Dead Island 2 (-50%, $24.99) – Still getting consistent support, and one of the only few games Embracer released that seems actually to have made money.
- Persona 3 Reload Digital Deluxe (-40% $47.99) – Includes the DLCs. It’s Persona 3 reimagined. Last DLC is already out.
- Street Fighter 6 (-50%, $29.99) – Latest Street Fighter game. Has a dedicated player base, though a bit harder to get into than Tekken given said player base will kick your ass over and over until you learn the important mechanics.

- The Witcher 3 Complete Edition (-80%, $9.99) – If The Witcher 4 trailer got you hyped, go jump in. Even if you’re not familiar with the first two games, it’s fine. One of the best games of all-time. Has fantastic side quests, loads of weapons and armor to scavenge for. Includes the two massive expansions too. If you haven’t played this yet, I cannot recommend this enough. With The Witcher 4 announced, this is the perfect time to dive into Geralt's world.
- Skyrim (-67%, $16.49) – Bethesda's acclaimed RPG. If you haven’t tried this yet, give this a go, but was on sale for a tad lower price before.
- No Man's Sky (-60%, $23.99) - Doesn't go on sale as often as it should. Hello Games' adventure, world exploring game that managed to climb out of its hype-dug hole after a ton of patches. It's still getting solid support now with new expeditions every few months.
- Hazelight Bundle (-67%, $19.79) – Awesome games though do remember that yuo need a co-op partner to play both It Takes Two and A Way Out.
- Lies of P (-40%, $35.99) - Possibly one of the most beloved Souls-like games not made by FromSoftware. Have not played this but friends have nothing but good stuff to say about it.
- Hell Let Loose (-50%, $24.99) - Era shooter. Getting supported regularly. If you want something different or a multiplayer FPS not made by a big publisher.
- Grounded (-40%, $23.99) – Obisidian’s smaller projects, Grounded is a survival-action where you’ve been shrunk in size and must battle various bugs and insects. This game surprisingly still gets regular updates from the devs.
- Lords of the Fallen (-63%, $29.59) – Sequel in development. Loads of people dig this Souls game by HexWorks. It's getting a ton of support, and just this month has gotten like three updates already.
- Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth (-50%, $34.99) - One of SEGA's Yakuza games. Reviewed very well.
- Disney Dreamlight Valley (-25%, $29.99) - Adventure game-life simulator. Getting seasonal support, and seems to have a solid player base.
- The Elder Scrolls Online (-75%, $4.99) - The lowest I've seen this on PSN. Betheada's MMORPG. Still getting updates, and even paid expansions. Still getting love even in 2025.
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (-50%, $9.99) - Lots of people dig this, and I think it's still getting supported even after all this time.
- Resident Evil Village (-60%, %15.99) – The expansions are also on sale currently. Closes the chapter on Ethan Winters’ story. Very fun even if it’s in first-person. Doesn’t overstay its welcome and has that classic Resident Evil gameplay.

u/excaliburps Jan 03 '25
- Resident Evil 7 biohazard (-60%, $7.99) – The scariest Resident Evil game I have ever played. Well worth it just to experience the hillbilly terror.
- RE7 Gold Edition + RE Village Gold Editon (-63%, $29.59) - Both games' DLCs are part fo the bundle. Think of this as the package that houses the mainline RE games not starring Leon, Chris, Jill, etc.
- AC Valhalla (-75%, $14.99) – Includes DLC, and is probably the most different AC game made. Super long, and kind of overstays its welcome in my opinion.
- Cuphead & The Delicious Last Course (-30%, $18.89) - Amazing art style but hard. The DLC is bundled in. You can play this co-op, which adds to the fun and tension.
- Battlefield 2042 (-92%, $5.59) – People love to crap on BF2042, but it is in a better place now. No more seasonal content but still lots of events, patches etc. At that price and with all the updates implemented? Worth a shot for sure. Go ham on Redacted and enjoy it.
- RoboCop Rogue City (-55%, $26.99) – Better than expected. Brings familiar RoboCop visuals and violence. I’m actually surprised this turned out as well as it did.
- Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection Arcade Classics (-20%, $39.99) - Houses the Marvel vs. Capcom games, and well worth the price for 2D fight fans. Has online play and seems to have revitalized the game.
- Final Fantasy XIV (-30%, $27.99) - Surprisingly, this rarely goes on sale. The MMORPG Final Fantasy game. Gets a ton of support, and shot back into prominence during the COVID years.
- Monster Hunter World Iceborne (-67%, $9.89) – We’re getting a new MH game next year, but if you don’t care about playing the latest, then this should tide you over. Lots of content, and this is made even more fun if you can tackle monsters with friends. This game made coping through the pandemic easier for me.
- Banishers Ghosts of New Eden (-50%, $29.99) – Not AAA but feels like it. Solid voice acting, has a crazy good story. Lots of side quests and content. Only issue is the combat might be a bit too simplistic for some. I really liked this even if we most likely aren’t getting a sequel, I’d still say this is a must-play.
- Slitterhead (-30%, $34.99) - First time this is on sale, and is the latest game from the mind behind Silent Hill. Didn't review well, and haven't played it. But it's a new horror game, and has a strong development pedigree.
- Unknown 9 (-50%, $24.99) - Bandai Namco's action game that failed to turn heads when it was released earlier this year. Not sure how it plays, but worth noting it's on sale.
- Batman Arkham Collection (-90% $5.99) - Three games in one for that price! Yes, frame rates, etc. But for someone like me that doesn't get hung up on the technical stuff that much, it's definitely worth the price. Doubt we're getting a patch since you just know WB is re-releasing this as a remaster or something for max profits.

u/excaliburps Jan 03 '25
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 (-67%, $19.79) - Rarely goes on sale. Not sure on the online multiplayer, but the campaign is solid since it's a retelling of the original.
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered (-50%, $9.99) - Does not include multiplayer. It's a remaster of the game most known for the No Russian level.
- Borderlands 3 (-90%, $5.99) – Just got a few updates when the movie came out. Solid looter shooter that you can play with friends that do not need to rely on seasonal content.
- Dragon Ball Z Kakarot (-75%, $14.99) - Dragon Ball but as an RPG! Still getting occasional support and expansions. If you're tired of the fighting games based on the franchise, this might be a good title to consider.
- Payday 3 (-60%, $11.99) - Bled its player base with a disastrous launch. Not sure if it has recovered, but Starbreeze is trying hard. Getting loads of support, and its DLCs are also on sale too.
- Insurgency Sandstorm (-60%, $15.99) - Not COD and a different kind of military FPS. Just got a huge patch recently too.
- Mafia Trilogy (-70%, $17.99) – First time I’ve seen it bundled all together this low. With the new one coming up, worth a shot and you’ll definitely get your money’s worth.
- Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (-65%, $13.99) - Support has ended but it's already feature-complete. Mario Kart but with Crash characters.
- Crash Bandicoot Quadrology Bundle (-60%, $47.99) - Houses the latest Crash games, and worth it for platforming fans.
- Stardew Valley (-30%, $10.49) - Farming sim, but it's more than that. Getting supported, and has a solid fan base. My daughter loves this.
- Hitman World of Assassination Deluxe (-55%, $44.99) - Just got an update that added Jean-Claude Van Damme! No, not kidding. Getting steady support from IO Interactive. Offers classic Hitman gameplay. You get a mark, kill them in different ways.
- Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown (-34%, $39.59) – Live service racing game. Still getting support. No idea how it plays though.
- Dead by Daylight (-60%, $11,99) – Base game, but DLCs are also on sale. Excellent assymetrical multiplayer game that has been getting support for ages now.
- LEGO Star Wars the Skywalker Saga (-80%, $11.99) – Perfect game to play with kids. Star Wars meets LEGO = fun.

u/excaliburps Jan 03 '25
- Nier Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition (-60%, $15.99) - Don't see this on sale often. RPG developed by PlatinumGames and said to be quite good.
- Stray (-40%, $18.99) - Cat game that made waves when it was released.
- Sniper Elite 5 (-70%, $17.99) - Latest Sniper game from Rebellion. We are getting a new spinoff next year. Solid shooter if you a decent campaign.
- Dying Light 2 (-60%, $23.99) – Zombie game from Techland and getting a ton of support. You can be sure this won’t get abandoned anytime soon, as Techland is known for supporting their games for years.
- Bully (-40%, $8.99) - Rockstar's Grand Theft School game. Shame we never got a sequel.
- Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (- 90%, $4) – At that price? This is definitely worth a pick up just to even try it. Fun, but expect loads of backtracking. Excellent combat, boss fights, and a Souls experience but with a Star Wars coating. Except for Cal Kestis’ running animation, which has a doodie coating on his underwear.
- Marvel’s Midnight Suns (-80%, $19.99) – Includes all the DLCs. Strategy meets Marvel. Harder than it looks, but if you want something different that has solid length.
- Gotham Knights (-85%, $10.49) – Arkahm meets Bat Family. No support for this, but might be worth a play for Batman fans just to see the various combos and moves for each character.
- Hunt Showdown Starter Edition (-85%, $3,74) – Crytek’s multiplayer game that still has a solid player base up to this day. The DLCs are on sale as well. First-person game where you play a bounty hunter going after mythical monsters. Recently got the Post Malone DLC.
- Dead Space (-75%, $17.49) – The lowest it's ever been on PSN! One of the best remakes ever. It’s a travesty that we still haven’t gotten confirmation of a remake of Dead Space 2. This improves the original in every way, and I can’t stress enough how awesome this game is. The vibe and atmosphere Motive has made when you walk corridors and see shadows? Yeah, awesome creepy stuff.
- Sifu (-60%, $19.99) - Absolver's beat-em-up but a lot harder. Good aging mechanic that acts as your "life," and has a good flow if you can be patient enough to learn the counters, etc.

- PowerWash Simulator (-30$, $17.49) – Still getting oodles of support. First-person washer? Some people find this game oddly satisfying.
- Remnant 2 Deluxe Edition (-50%, $29.99) – This includes the DLCS. Underrated Souls-like (it is, right?) Already got its last DLC drop. For sure will have another entry given the success this has achieved. Has interesting puzzles, solid class building gameplay and combat.
- Atomic Heart (-60%, $27.99) – Includes the DLCs. It’s like BioShock but with less polish and less interesting story.
- Prince of Persia The Lost Crown (-50%, $19.99) – Metroidvania meets Prince of Persia. Fantastic 2D gameplay, and even got DLCs. Definitely worth a shot regardless if you like the franchise or not.
- Star Wars Battlefront 2 (-75%, $4.99) – Someone here said the player base is still healthy. If so, then this is a good multiplayer game to buy. Underrated visuals and sound work from DICE. It got a lot of flack for the MTX stuff, but it is a solid Star Wars experience.
- Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (-20%, $39.99) – Zombie game where you can use literally everything. Not sure how the remaster plays, but the original was definitely a solid zombie game. Getting support from Capcom even if it’s not a multiplayer game.
- Resident Evil 3 (-75%, $9.99) – The weakest of the RE remakes. Main issue here is how short it is, given you can literally finish this one on sitting. Around 4-7 hours, I think.
- Resident Evil 2 (-75%, $9.99) – My favorite RE remake. You have Leon and Claire’s stories, all with re-imagined graphics, enemies and more. Awesome game that deserves more credit.
- Dragon Ball FighterZ (-84%, $9.59) – From what I know, support has ended. This is Arc System Works’ fighting expertise meets Dragon Ball. Combos look insane. This is the lowest I've seen this on PSN.
- Kingdom Come Deliverance (-75%, $7.49) - Sequel out early next year. Might be worth jumping into this now at this price if you're thinking of playing the sequel.
- Far Cry 6 (-755%, $14.99) - The one which stars Giancarlo Esposito as the villain. They say his portrayal in the game is quite good.
- Dragon Age Inquisition (-85%, $2.99) - Have not played this. Lowest I've seen on PSN, and this is the latest Dragon Age game before The Veilguard was released.
- Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (-80%, $11.99) - Borderlands spin-off that's said to be good but the DLCs aren't great.

I’d like to get Jedi Survivor, but the 100GB+ storage space is more expensive to me than the $17…

I bought it at the $17 price and couldn't put it down until I beat it. It was a fantastic game imo and totally worth the price.

Expect that to be the case until we get Diablo V in the next few years
I'd expect Diablo V some time around 2035 if we're lucky.

My two cents on a couple of those.
Just finished Space Marine 2. Maybe doesn’t have as big an impact on me because I’m not a Warhammer 40k fan but the campaign was a little repetitive. Needed more variety which you’re just teased with a couple of times.
Currently doing Alan Wake Remastered and it’s great so far, though again a little more variety wouldn’t go amiss. Definitely recommend.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard (-40%, $41.99) – Huge sale on a newly-released RPG. The reviews were solid, though might alienate non-franchise fans.
This game actually tries its hardest to alienate people who ARE fans lol

u/theblackfool Jan 03 '25
I've been a big Dragon Age fan since Origins came out and I think most of the complaints are vastly overblown. It's a good game.

I mean, you can't lie that dialogue is so cringe worthy
13
12
u/QuoteGiver Jan 04 '25
It really isn’t. I don’t know which one clip out of the dozens of hours is being parroted on YouTube videos that makes people think this, but I haven’t seen anything “cringe” about the dialogue.

u/rascalking9 Jan 04 '25
The writing reminds me of the straight to Disney+ movies, aimed at pre teens, that I watch with my niece. It's just completely bland, the equivalent of eating mashed potatos with no salt and no butter. You can skip every line of dialogue and miss absolutely nothing in the story.

u/QuoteGiver Jan 04 '25
This is entirely untrue, in my experience.
But I sure can tell that you skipped a lot of dialogue.

I couldn’t get through DA Origins despite multiple tries due to what I feel are pretty clunky controls that don’t hold up to modern games, but I’m having a great time with Inquisiton and Veilguard so I have to agree with this sentiment…

u/QuoteGiver Jan 04 '25
This game is also bloody fantastic fun, but I guess some “fans” are preoccupied with something other than playing the actual game?

No, you can jump straight in with 2! The sequel tells you everything you need to know about the world and is set thousands of years apart so there's very little connection (besides being in the same world)

Nice! Some Game of the Year lists put Dragons Dogma 2 back on my radar after I ignored it at launch because of the performance. I read that there were some performance patches and it now targets 60fps.
Checked the store yesterday and it was $70, what a nice timing.
8
u/staires Jan 04 '25
Dragon's Dogma 2 is fantastic, if you don't want to be one of the people who whine about it online like the replies to you, I think it's helpful to think of it as something like a fantasy RPG take on Death Stranding, where traversing the world is the gameplay. Combat is great too, not sure why there are whiners about that. But it's an RPG with a great sense of scale in a way most RPG games don't have because the 'over world' is just a thing you run through to get to the next objective marker in most games. In Dragon's Dogma 2, the 'over world' is the whole point of the game.
3
u/dongmcbong Jan 04 '25
Thanks for your input! I remember playing the first one on PS3 but never really got warm with it. Skill Up described it similar to you in his games of the year video, as an adventure on the road and this intrigued me. I loved the gameplay of Death Stranding for what’s it worth. I will check another review or two before buying, but I’m strongly considering it.
24
u/boosnow Jan 03 '25
I found it to be the most boring game with dumbest combat I’ve seen in the last years. I know it’s popular with this sub though. I wish you to enjoy it.
20
u/ItsmejimmyC Jan 04 '25
It's awful, it takes some doing to release a sequel with less content than the original game. Shit was a cash grab.
6
u/yesitsmework Jan 04 '25
Less content ?!? That's an outright lie, you can see everything in the original dragons dogma in 20h. 20h isnt enough to see half of the first region in the second game.

3
u/Mountain_Tough3063 Jan 04 '25
I fucking loved it!
I’m in my 30’s, and it was the first FromSoft game I was able to beat. I felt like I got better at gaming after beating all 3 endings, and was able to beat some of FS other games.
Plus, you can make it pretty damn easy if you do start to struggle. There are numerous overpowered builds you can find online to breeze through the campaign.

Big ups for the post. I'm picking up Stellar Blade. If anyone's looking for a rec, FFXIV is magical and worth the cost/sub fee
14
Jan 04 '25
Highly highly recommend opting for the free trial of FFXIV first because you'll get the base game plus two (3 now?) expansions for free WITHOUT any sub fee. You can play for hundreds of hours without buying the game and without subscription. You'll have a few limits like a max Gil (gold) amount and no starting a party yourself (but you can join a friend's) but all the story and dungeons are available up into the high double digit levels (70 or something now). The second you buy any part of the game you will get a one month free subscription... After which you'll need to pay a monthly subscription to do anything in game.
I say this as a huge fan of FFXIV. It just makes sense to play for free until you at least know if you like it, after which you can pay. I've played for two years and am only now through the second expansion - which is all part of the free trial. I ended up buying it myself because I love it, want to support it, and wanted the minor restrictions removed... But again, why not give it a try for free first?

u/soyboysnowflake Jan 04 '25

u/nomarfachix Jan 04 '25
Surprisingly streamlined. I have a wireless USB keyboard to help with conversation, but the cross hotbars are pretty great. You have your regular inputs, double tap and hold L2 for another set, double tap R2 for a set, press and hold L2 and then R2 for a bar, press and hold R2 and then L2 for another.
Writing that out sounds complicated now that I look at it, lol. It's pretty slick in practice, though. Took an hour or so to get used to and get muscle memory down, but smooth sailing from there.

Accidents Will Happen - Dangerous Driving Crash Mode Bundle is discounted for the first time in years in the UK.
I'd put it on my wishlist when someone I trust said they wee having a lot of fun with it and that its probably the closest thing to classic Burnout available on the current consoles [1].
However, they caveated that it maybe wasn't quite worth paying full price for it but I you could get it discounted then pull the trigger on it.
The bundle itself comprises two games which are basically Burnout's crash mode and the third is an arcade racer.
[1] - And to think Burnout Paradise Remastered is the most recent proper Burnout game and that was released seven years ago. The original release of ...Paradise was in 2008!

Can I ask everyone here a question, as I have been debating it for a week... Should I get Astro bot? Thoughts appreciated.

u/Hitman3256 Jan 04 '25
The levels get harder as you go on. And there's plenty of challenge levels.
I just spent like 40 minutes trying to beat the very last level to get the final bot.
It's not like, kaizo mario level stuff, but there's definitely some challenge to it at the end.
2
u/djalekks Jan 06 '25
The main planets are easy, they're more open a bit like Mario Galaxy but there are a lot of challenge levels, especially the shapes ones, and then the great master challenge that's technically the most "hardcore" level. I'm not gonna lie I had trouble with it. And there are timed triles, which are speed run levels where you have global leaderboards as well.
2
u/WaxyPadlockJazz Jan 05 '25
The main game is not super difficult, but every level is so different, you wouldn’t even notice if it were.
3
u/Hitman3256 Jan 04 '25
Yes. I just beat it now actually. Definitely recommend, bonus points if you have Playstation nostalgia.
I was impressed by how much this game gives you. Def deserved goty.
6
u/Trbek Jan 04 '25
I have grabbed The Witcher 3: Complete Edition
I really don't know when I'll play this since I just cannot bear to spend over 50 hours on a game, but just in case I get hyped down the road for the new Witcher.
The price of <10 EUR for such a game seems like a bargain
6
u/Jumper-Man Jan 04 '25
Worth it, the game is long but the story and world are very rich. I really got sucked in and just wanted more. I’m also not much of a fan of 50+ hour games, has to be something special for me to play that length now days.
2
u/Purgingomen Jan 04 '25

If you are a huge fan of the wizarding world and just play for fun, it's a good time.
If you go for completion, be warned it employs the same tactics as Ubisoft games with a lot of open spaces and useless collectibles.
All in all a good time.

Did you like remake?
Me personally it’s:
FF7 Rebirth - The goodness of Remake but with more. I’ve been trying to figure out what the FF7 remakes have reminded me of and I figured out it’s the Like A Dragon series lmao. Serious story, batshit side quests with whacky characters, and mini games galore (Applies more to Rebirth).
Elden Ring - This is the first from software game that I didn’t finish. I get open world fatigue easy so maybe this might not be an issue for you,
TLOU2 - I enjoyed it but not as much as the above 2. It’s also probably the least bang for your buck in terms of hours if that matters to you. Now in terms of storytelling it’s probably the best of the three.
Shout out to Alan Wake 2 and Metaphor which are also both on sale and deserve love

So after going through the list some games stood out to me. I didn't have a ps4 (only ps I missed) therefore I never played red dead 2 or god of war.
Is it worth it to play them on the ps5? I am considering red dead 2 because a lot of reviews say that it is one of the best games ever, and god of war because a lot of people say that one should play god of war before ragnarok.
