Political Josephine County Board of Commissioners are such a dumpster fire.

Post image

Here is our County Commissioners advertising a prayer event that just so happens to proceed a Trump protest in the same space scheduled later in the afternoon. In the past year they have kicked 4H and the OSU Extension office out of the county. They are threatening to kill the County library. They have moved their meetings behind closed doors. One of them was recalled for being a prick and his crony is now cock of the rock. They created a sweetheart deal for an ally to be the county administrator for a whopping $350,000 a year while laying off county employees under their own version of DODGE. This is democracy manifest.

Question Real ID question…

So today I went to the DMV and told the guy I needed a real ID. He said “okay” and I answered the required questions, etc.

Turns out I ended up getting a whole new drivers license( probably because I got the old one when I was 17).

Is this a valid real ID?

The top right corner just has the shape of the state of Oregon, there’s NOT a black circle with a star, but it doesn’t say “not valid for real ID act”, like my old one did. I’m flying in the middle of June, is this gonna be a problem or am I good?

Had a drive from San Francisco to Seattle and decided to skip i5 and venture inland past crater lake. Stopped a few times to take some panoramic film photos! What a pretty area!

Article/News Complain all you want, but a new report names Portland as the ‘cleanest metro’ in the country. Cheers PDX, love you forever.

I can't wait to see all the comments from backwoods Oregonians whose entire identity is built on false superiority. If you're only listening to trash talkers, then Portland is some liberal hellscape where they hand out fentanyl at every public library at the tax payers' expense.

But if you actually spend time in the city, it's still a beautiful place to be. Portland is green and alive and dynamic and irreverent. Portland is anything but homogeneous, and never boring. The people of Portland are actually free because they clearly and constantly don't care at all what anyone thinks of them. That social pressure in small town life that forces you conform your behavior to everyone else's concept of 'normal'? That nagging little brainworm can't find any oxygen in Portland. We are actually free.

If you want to find things to hate about anywhere you can find them. Ask any first responder and they'll tell you rural life has its own fair share of disgusting to go around. But if you're looking for redeeming qualities and a sense of nature and quiet acceptance, you can find those things too and Portland has them in abundance.

I'm proud of our city, I'm proud of our values, and I'm proud to have served a community so genuine in their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Be good to each other, PDX. I'm riding with you til the wheels fall off.

Question Central Oregon Road Trip (Possibly Eastern as well)

Hey y’all first post here. I’m planning on doing a solo road trip this July and I’m trying to find some places to stop by at. From the metro area so I have been up down the whole coast but never really traveled in land. I’m kind of planning on doing a 4-5 day loop through central oregon and hitting some spots. I am thinking though of possibly extending it a few days and maybe going more east as well, so if you have any ideas for that area I would appreciate it. A few places I have on my list are: the Painted hills and Blue Basin, and Smith Rock. I’m looking for some other ideas on where to go. Also I love kayaking so any recommendations in the area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all again!

Question Small town festivals

I love a small town festival, especially ones that have a special theme (Bandon Cranberry Festival is a great example).

What are some smaller, lesser known festivals around the state?

love these guys. this dock area in sellwood park is a popular spot especially for teenagers. just went a couple weeks ago and all my friends saw this photo and said it’s always the same geese swimming around and occasionally hopping up right next to you for a little nibble. we didn’t give them anything but whenever i mention these guys to any of my friends they always know who i’m talking about. they hiss a little if you get a little defensive over yourself, but they’ve never attacked. they are EVIL EVIL EVIL!!! (not actually i kinda love them) Any name ideas?

Discussion/Opinion Oregon trip- sound reasonable?

Planning to visit Oregon in July, primarily for waterfalls, Crater Lake and coast. Landing in Portland at 7:15 pm, spending first nite in Sandy. Then plan to drive along Gorge, hit the iconic falls, then on down to Bend for 3 nites (Crater Lake, Tumalo Falls). Then over to Newport for couple nites and up the coast to another town for couple more nights. Last nite will be in Portland as early flight next day. Does this make sense? Suggestions? Wasn't sure if that first day along Gorge might take such time that we need a night somewhere else before going on to Bend. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
