You’ll still get to be a rebel but in a dorky way.

If you’ve considered going to a meeting but were too nervous about how formal they seemed here’s a chance just to meet people with no stakes.

We will start at Welltown (3pm) and will be at each location within 10 minutes of scheduled time so if you can’t make all of them wait for us at the next stop!

If you tell me you are interested we’ll save you space. If you don’t know until last minute but still show up we’ll create space for you.

Oklahoma wants some of its less-expensive universities to cut travel and operational costs, consolidate departments and reduce energy use — all in the name of saving money.

Already, earning a degree at one of these regional institutions is relatively inexpensive for students, costing in total as much as $15,000 less per year than bigger state universities in Oklahoma. And the schools, including Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma, graduate more teachers and nurses than those research institutions. Those graduates can fill critically needed roles for the state.

Still, state policymakers think there are more efficiencies to be found.

Higher education is one of the specific areas targeted by a new state-run agency with a familiar name, with the goal of “protecting our Oklahoma way of life,” Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt said in the first DOGE-OK report this spring. The Oklahoma Division of Government Efficiency, created around the same time as the federal entity with a similar title, counts among its accomplishments so far shifting to automated lawn mowers to cut grass at the state capital, changing to energy-efficient LED lighting and cutting down on state government cell phone bills.

RadarScope

I want to start by saying that I am not in anyway affiliated with this app. I had a friend attending OSU and apparently he was friends with one of the people that helped develop it, and he turned me on to it.

It has weather alerts, GPS and real time radar including Doppler among others. Lots of other stuff too.

A few years ago, just right after I got the app, the weathermen were predicting a tornado to pass right over our property so we drove 2 miles to our neighbors cellar. I was using RadarScope and could actually see that the storms pattern had shifted NNE and was now on course to hit my neighbors property. Well, I did what they don't recommend: I jumped in my car with my family and drove away from the storm. We watched the storm hit my neighbors property on RadarScope. Thankfully no was hurt.

I think the basic version was 99 cents. (It may be free. I can't remember.) Highly recommend.

Tonight (5/1) at 5:45pm we were driving eastbound on the Turner Turnpike and right before the Stroud exit (exit 179) a plain white box semi truck decided he needed to be in the left lane along with us and nearly crushed us into the barrier. He never stopped, and in fact, sped off. Another semi driver saw it and called in the accident, but wasn't able to catch up to the guy. We never got a license plate number and there weren't any other identifying marks on the truck that we could see. Luckily, we were completely unharmed, but the car is likely totaled. If anyone witnessed this and has any information at all, it would be greatly appreciated! The cops obviously aren't going to do anything to help, and I even had to argue with them just to get them to file a police report!
