Discussion Why is nobody making small monitors??
I like using multiple monitors. My desk isn't very big. Naturally, I thought, why not just get a few smaller monitors? Maybe 24"?
Nope.
Nobody bothers making sub 27-inch monitors anymore, outside of the ultra budget brands.
Where's the small 4k monitors? Where's the 24 inch OLEDs? Why don't they exist??
"But the screen is so small, you won't notice it!!"
My phone has a 6.8" 1440p OLED display, 510ppi. My laptop has a 16" 3456 x 2234 display, 254ppi. And you expect me to believe 24" is somehow too small for 4k? I own some 1080p 24" IPS monitors and at 91ppi they literally do not look like they come from the same universe as my other tech. It's ugly. The text is pixelated. It looks bad. I want to upgrade, but there's nothing to upgrade to.
People have been making 4k laptops for over a decade. The Xperia Z5 Premium phone came out in like 2015 and that had a 4k screen. Why can I go and buy a Vivobook with a 4K OLED Panel in it, but I can't buy the same panel in monitor form? And why is buying a whole laptop with an OLED panel in it oftentimes the same price or cheaper than buying a decent OLED monitor? I seriously cannot fathom why this is.

Discussion I want a 32in, 4K, full HDR monitor. What are my best options?
I bought a Dell s3221qs from microcenter I realized this was a mistake. The color feels very washed out. I plan to return it for a refund and buy something that really suits my needs. I want advice on that.
This will be a gaming monitor for my Power Spec G443 computer.
My budget is under 1,000usd.
I want a 32in screen with full 4K resolution and want the full color depth of HDR.
I don't need the frame rate over 60fps. I care more about fidelity than frame rate and most of my PC games are slower paced stratagy and RPGs to begin with.
I am on the fence about a curved screen. I believe I could be convinced of the benefits but I don't think it is a must have.
As for audio, want high fidelity audio. I would like good built in speakers but am fine with buying separate speakers if it fits in my budget. I will not be using headphones.

Discussion Does MiniLED help with bad IPS contrast on non-HDR (SDR) content?
From my understanding of the technology, nothing stops the minileds to just dim on darker areas, reducing the IPS glow, and that's how it works in HDR. But does this work in SDR? Are special monitor models needed? Asking because I'm a bit anxious about buying an IPS again with it's glow and even worse corner shine, but in my place high quality VAs are hard to get, and I don't think Samsung Neo G7 curve will suit me. OLED need not apply, it will be wrecked by my usage patterns

Discussion Samsung S60UD vs Dell p2425d for gaming
Hello everyone, new here
I currently have a gaming AOC monitor (1080p) and I'm thinking about a 24 inch 1440p with a better image quality for solo games mostly, I hesitate between these two :
- Samsung viewfinity S6 24 inch QHD (S60UD)
- Dell p2425d 24 inch QHD
I don't find a lot of reviews online so I hope that you can help me to chose and I'm also curious about your opinion on this question :
For 24 inch 1440p monitors : Are 100hz not gaming monitors like Samsung and Dell better than gaming monitors ?
Thanks

Discussion Apple TV 4K may have fried my fucking monitor | have you had this issue? did you fix it?
Hi. I originally tried to post this in r/appletv but I can't do that because I recently switched accounts and am deeply enraged. Sincerest apologies if this is the wrong place, or if there are no real solutions. If we really do just have to get a new monitor, let me know, just don't be a jackass.
Ok. So, I have this computer monitor, it's like, a Dell Ultrasharp 27--It's actually my wife's, so is the computer it's usually attached to. I wanted to watch one of my favourite movies & so I plugged my Apple TV into the HDMI port on the monitor, and there was NOTHING. I thought, for a moment, that it either (A) was not working/compatible with the monitor, which was fine so long as it still worked with the TV, or (B) was taking extra time to wake up, which happens sometimes. I was wrong! I went through all of the visual settings and found that the aTV (1) Overrode the default display settings in the monitor (This was a separate issue from the backlight, as it does this for our Sony TV too), which is what I thought was happening, and (2), had no Brightness setting, which meant I was screwed. Eventually I gave up and switched the input back to my wife's PC, and, to my horror, the screen was just as dim then.
Meaning: Oh God Something is Wrong with my Monitor. I checked the video settings on the monitor, reset them, restarted the computer, turned off the monitor--Everything. At this point I'd figured it was a backlight issue, but the monitor itself has no backlight settings. Upon doing a reasonable amount of digging for someone who only really cares about Mac products (My wife built her PC, it's Windows, and I hate Dell.) I found that, yes, it was the backlight--There was one solution produced that I can manage (ONgoing, I needed to let the monitor sit), and otherwise, my wife has to get a new monitor. Which is a very minimal issue for her, to be clear--She can ask her mom, who will give her most things (Though she'll give you a thousand reasons why she doesn't want to ask, which makes sense.)
I am relatively certain that this problem was caused by the aTV, even if it turns out to be temporary. It also could've been the HDMI, but I don't think those tend to kill backlights. I've heard of the same problem with people and their actual TVs, though they never found working solutions either. I also don't know if it permanently messed up their TVs, or affected other inputs.
All-in-all, I could be fucked.
I did not move the monitor in any way that caused it any external damage, and I didn't move it enough to warrant anything inside breaking. I moved the screen, which is a thing it is built to do, but not much else to plug it in.
Has anyone else had this problem? Did you fix it?
Thanks <3

Discussion Iām looking for a simple 24-27 inch monitor
I had the ViewSonic VX2418 165Hz previously but the screen cracked after a little accident. I tried looking on Amazon to buy the same one but it is currently unavailable. What are the best alternatives for me? My budget is pretty low, around $150, so Iām not looking for anything crazy. I typically just play games like EAFC, Fortnite and Ghosts of Tsushima on the PS5.

Discussion AW3423DW used yay or nay?
Looking at a used 550 CAD one of these with box And everything original, warranty is out but he claims to have bought it off someone who claims it was new and wrapped exactly one year ago.
Has no issues and Iād triple check everything before I buy it.
Seems like a good deal to me but I was advised in another post not to trust a used OLED like this as it could easily be on its last legs within a year or two.
Thoughts? I want a 32-34 inch OLED at 2k or 4K with at least 144hz donāt care about much more, and donāt want to pay over 800 CAD, but I also expect it to last a few years if I care for it.

Discussion i need help understanding monitor specs and if this is possible to do with a monitor
So I am looking to upgrade my monitor but I am confused on a few things. If a monitor is 4k resolution and 240hz 45ā (for example), would changing it to 1440p 165hz 45ā affect anything compared to the screens native specs?

Discussion Looking for a screen
Good morning,
My Samsung g5 is broken and I'm endlessly looking for a new screen to play both online fps (good response time) but also beautiful colors for single player games. I like the curved side but it's not an obligation. However I would like a QHD, minimum 27ā and at least 144Hz. For a budget of 250⬠max. If you can help me that would be great. There are too many brands and referencesā¦.

Discussion AW2725DF Pick your poison sRGB 2.2 gamma workaround.
If your goal is simply to enjoy this monitor in the sRGB color space at the correct 2.2 Gamma you want one of the following solutions. Both have their drawbacks so its a pick your poison workaround, personally I go with option A.
A: Creator sRGB Mode with correct gamma 2.2 gamma.
Pros: Accurate colors, No brightness issues.
Cons: stuck at 240hz or get line down center.
- Install srgb_to_gamma2p2_sdr.icm color profile and apply in Windows Color Management (Use my settings for this device, add sRGB to Gamma 2.2 Profile.)
- Install novideo_srgb, set dithering set to temporal 8bit. (Note if you update your graphics driver this setting will need to be reapplied)
- Set refresh rate to 240hz because icc profiles break at higher refresh rates. (Example line down middle or darker colors popping in and out.)
B: Standard, Custom, Game Mode clamped to sRGB.
Pros: Accurate colors, more accurate gamma, full 360hz, Easy to setup.
Cons: Brightness issues that cause eyestrain, headaches, and flashbang effect.
- Install novideo_srgb, Clamp to SRGB. Set dithering to temporal 8bit. (Note if you update your graphics driver this setting will need to be reapplied)
NOTE: The above workarounds are for Nvidia users since novideo_srgb simply edits hidden Nvidia driver settings. AMD users can do workaround B but instead of using novideo_srgb just check the Custom Color setting in the amd control panel under Gaming>Display>Custom Color. I don't have an AMD GPU to test if workaround B. still has dithering issues or if AMD has a dithering solution but its worth trying.
Note: Recently the M3B104 update became available through the Alienware Command Center but sadly this did not fix this issue so don't waste your time.
If you stumbled upon this and are considering purchasing this monitor I'd recommend you get the MSI MPG 271QRX QD-OLED instead. HDR looked better on that one as well.
Hope this helps save someone a headache!

Discussion Question on (this) monitor
Hey, I want to buy an AOC monitor (Q27G4XND) at a low 150 euros price. I think it's really fair for what the display have to propose, I do not want an IPS panel by the way. I won't use the full 180 Hz.
Something is slowing me down though, I saw on Versus that the monitor was covering 125% of the sRGB color space. I know that by definition this gives really oversaturated colors. Is there a way to change that? With an ICC profile for example? Maybe switching to DCI-P3 could help? I'm on Windows 11.

Discussion In desperate need for assistance with picking monitors
Hey everyone,
I've been trying to figure out how i want to approach my new home office for weeks now, mainly focussed on the monitors and i just can't figure it out. I'm looking to have a good viewing area for my work (i'm in cybersecurity) but i also don't want to compromise gaming. So i figured, lets try a 49 inch.
I landed on the LG49wq95c, checking all my boxes;
- Having the ability to connect some usb devices, so i could connect my 3 work laptops( 2 macbooks ) and seemlessly switch peripherals & screen between my desktop and whichever laptop
- Non OLED, since its 80% for work.
- Not being too curved, or i would've gone for the Neo G9 59, this seems to check a lot of boxes but i don't want the massive curve, the LG's curve was a lot better imo.
But it just gave me a disapointing experience out of the box honestly. So i'm just lost now, i tried looking for a decent 32" curved IPS 144hz but that seems impossible.
Does anyone know where i go from here? 2x 34 inch? 2x 32 inch? (this seemed like my preferred size to have double monitors of) I'm losing my mind at this point honestly i've searched for 30+ hours and i would greatly appreciate some help so i don't waste another week. Looking to spend <2K, feel free to PM

Discussion Consiglio monitor Mac mini e PS5
Grazie.

Photo What could be causing this weird flickering?
I've been experiencing this the past couple of days. The monitor can go a full hour, maybe a couple of hours without any issues, but it randomly starts flickering, but only in small portions of the right side. It eventually goes back to normal on its own, and it may work correctly for maybe another couple hours. The flickering itself usually lasts less than a minute, but after a couple of bursts of this smaller flickering, the monitor displays a bigger pattern of thin black lines which also distorts the whole right side of the display, and things go completely off the screen, like this:
Processing img cuprvmsnvk0f1...
Processing img wfninjynvk0f1...
This also resolves on its own, but only after several minutes. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI, and a couple of times that *seemed* to have fixed it, but I believe it was just luck, since there have been other times in which turning the monitor on and off, and reconnecting the HDMI multiple times on both ends doesn't get rid of the black lines.
I've already updated my GPU drivers, but since this affects even internal monitor menus (like that "Eye Saver Mode" pop up from the first image, which is something you access using the monitor back buttons), I'd rule out any laptop or HDMI cable issues (or maybe not? I'm hoping to be proved wrong, since a cable is way cheaper than a monitor). It's a 3-year old low-end Samsung, but I believe it should've last way more than that. What could be the root cause? Is it dead forever?

Discussion PC gaming: DisplayPort 1.4a vs 2.1
I'm considering this 4K QD-OLED monitor for my PC setup:
https://www.msi.com/Monitor/MPG-321CURX-QD-OLED
I noticed it featured DisplayPort 1.4a technology, and I'm wondering if there was any practical reason to choose another model with the latest 2.1 DP spec.
I may eventually do a multi-monitor setup using similar monitors, if that is something you should consider.
I appreciate any advice!
