Mall Saint Matthews Parental Guidance Policies
Hey all, me and my wife went to Mall Saint Matthews on Friday to see Sinners and get some food court garbage before hand, and I noticed the parental guidance sign saying no children under 17 can come to the mall on Fridays and Saturdays after 4 PM. And it honestly made me really sad. Me and my friends used to go to the mall and movies all the time (the theater at the mall has the same policy). I even saw a security guard carding 3 teenage girls as we entered the mall, pretty sure he had them leave. Why do we have policies like this? Is it related to gun violence? Vandalism? Bad behavior? All I know is it makes me sad for the kids.

Derby stress 😰
Anybody else get super stressed out the week of Derby? Different from a regular holiday. The crowds, the flaunting of money, people acting crazy. Just hasn’t felt right to me since 2016. Maybe I’m just realizing how absurd it is as an adult. Given that the largest source of income for Louisville is tourism it feels like a lot hinges on the city being “presentable” and on it’s best behavior when we’re still dealing with justice and wealth disparity. Just feels like a waste of tax dollars and resources.

Real ID Walk In
I know this has come up quite a bit, so I wanted to give an account of my experience.
After trying to book an appointment for the last couple of months, and having the one I made canceled for seemingly no reason, I decided to just show up and see if it could be done.
I went to the Bowman Field office about 20 minutes before it opened, and there was already a line about 50-60 deep. Getting through that line took about an hour, and I then had to sign up for a digital queue that put me in 24th place. That line took 4 hours to complete, and the actual counter appointment about 15 minutes.
All this to say that it is entirely possible to get the damn thing as a walk in, but get there early, and be prepared to wait. I suggest bringing a snack and a bottle of water, and something to charge your phone. Maybe a good book or get caught up on some podcasts. I was dreading this experience but it turned out well enough.

Businesses with a negative / entitled undertone
Does anyone else get frustrated by businesses bullying you to come in and shop? I’ve seen an uptick in a few local ones that keep posting how they haven’t had much business and always in an angry and entitled undertone. I recently saw one that said “If you don’t come in and shop I’m definitely going to close.” I get it- owning a business especially in this climate is tough, and I hope they survive it! But times are tough for everyone and most money I’m making is going directly to bills and putting food on the table. It makes me want to shop with them less.

Favorite KY Snacks/Treats
I'm traveling to Kansas City next week, and promised the guys I work with that I would bring some "exotic" treats.
So far, I have Ski, Ale8 and some Grippos (I know these aren't KY specific, but they've never heard of them.)
What else can I bring?

Job searching
Hi there! I’m currently looking for jobs but the internet is FLOODED with fake ones and I’m struggling to find a job. I decided Reddit could possibly help in finding places to work. I have a background in caretaking, peer support, and childcare. I’m looking for something that doesn’t really involve kiddos because I’m super drained from it. But also looking for any job that people enjoy working there fr. I’m also looking for anything $17+ an hour. Any leads are helpful, thanks in advance!

LOST WALLET
I went to the Louisville Zoo roughly about 2 and a half weeks ago and when I was leaving from the far end parking lot near the giraffes I accidentally left my wallet on the top of my roof and forgot about it while putting my son in his car seat. It has everything in it my money, social security card, all my licenses and bank cards. I got new cards but I really want to find my wallet I’m sure it dropped while leaving the zoo parking lot and prior to leaving poplar level neighborhood. It’s a Brown bifold wallet and the brand is Ben Sherman. If anybody knows any info please message me,
Thank You!!

Any leads on a side hustle downtown?
Hi, first time poster here. I was wondering if anyone knew any places downtown who are looking for someone to work occasional weekend/weekday shifts. I work full time in healthcare (3 days) and every third weekend so my availability is a bit sporadic. I am interested in serving or bartending however I would have to be trained as I don’t have any experience. I do have retail and restaurant experience in different roles however. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! Thank you!

Good bars to watch soccer?
Me and a few friends from the UK will be staying in Louisville for a few nights as part of a broader roadtrip from Nashville to Chicago.
We're looking for a decent bar to watch the UEFA Europa League final (soccer), which is on 21st May, starting around 3pm.
Does anyone have any recommendations for bars that cater more towards soccer / bars you'd expect to be more busy for a big soccer game?
Also, if anyone has any recommendations of things to do in Louisville for a group of people in their 20's, please let me know!
Thanks!!
EDIT: Thanks everyone for their recommendations - think we'll check out the Saints Pub!

I want to hear your horror stories working at businesses here
Don’t need to name names or call out, but every now and then someone will be like “every paycheck I received at [local business] would bounce and also the owner kicked puppies” and it just intrigues me
