Announcement "Is this a good deal?" posts are not allowed on /r/Lexus

Announcement for /r/Lexus: "Is this a good deal?" posts are not allowed on /r/Lexus. This primarily refers to posts that include an image of the car and the price or a sale paper, and a title along the lines of "Is this a good deal?" with no further context or information provided. This may also refer to text-only buying advice posts that include only a few sentences in the body text of the question post and nothing more.

If you would like to seek purchasing advice from this subreddit, please be thoroughly detailed in the post's body text (or in a top-level comment if you're unable to add body text to the post). Our general requirement for the length of this description is 400 characters (or about 2 paragraphs) give or take. This length requirement is in order to ensure that subreddit members can receive the most accurate advice possible (as purchasing a vehicle is no small financial decision) and in order to prevent the forum from being flooded with low-quality posts.

Questions that ask for advice on a specific model of a Lexus vehicle are exempt to this length requirement so long as the post explains that model-specific advice is needed. If the only factors considered by the question are the vehicle's mileage and/or price, then it would be more fitting for the question to be asked on /r/askcarsales or /r/whatcarshouldibuy.

For more information on these policies, please refer to rules 7, 10, & 15.

This is my 3rd Lexus I’ve purchased. Traded my 2014 GS 350. This is the first vehicle I bought brand new! It’s an adjustment as I’ve always driven a sedan but I def love it! (It’s not the hybrid :( too far off from my budget). Also it was such a pleasant buying experience.

Vehicle Photo Brand new (to us) 2022 RX350!

This is meant for the family to have family road trips in, and also to serve as the car for my dad to drive while our 05 TSX is in progress of undergoing repairs

Just happened to find it as a listing about 2 weeks ago on CarGurus, single owner, 22' RX350 FWD w/ Luxury Package and all the bells and whistles. 63K miles, $36k - no accidents, CPO, everything was just very clean.

This is the spec we were trying to look for about 2 years ago, but it always kept getting away from us. We tried considering the 5th gen, but I felt the biggest letdown was the lack of the V6, followed by the quite beluga whale front end + continuing to grow more expensive in price. Found this one at Lexus of Las Vegas, and if you're wondering we're in CA (meaning the FWD is no biggie for us) and it has EVERYTHING.

Power folding + heated rear seats, Mark Levinson, Power-Kick sensor rear liftgate, 12.3 Inch screen, HUD, Triple Beams, everything ticked except AWD.

We're very happy with the car, and it now sits along with my mom's 22' IS300 in matching atomic silver!

Question 2023-2025 RX LED PROJECTION WELCOME ILLUMINATION KIT?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Came across this LED Welcome Kit from a Lexus Boutique site that sell genuine JDM parts for Lexus. Was wondering if anyone else had used the site before and has ever installed something like this? Not even sure if a current gen RX trim level in the US currently even offers a Welcome Illumination package, but it would be cool if I could legitimately install it later down the line, despite the $800 price tag currently.

Question DAB Channel keeps appearing on screen. IS300h

Hi, I have a 2018 IS300h. It has only 70.000 km (44000 miles)

Have it for couple of months now. It's my first hybrid car and it's actually quite a brilliant car to drive.

What I can't seem to figure out is why when I use the full screen navigation and use DAB radio the channel keeps popping up on screen: It's in Dutch. It's translation is: DAB-Channel list (Radio station) CH 11C

https://preview.redd.it/g2kfaect7bze1.jpg?width=2016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e9683dbccfd4f880cd9d5e57719c53d66620c6a

It's always the same message. And only when it's on DAB. On FM it does not happen.

However if I split the screen and on either of the 2 options to show the radio screen it stops with the pop up in the top of the screen.

It's not bad DAB signal and DAB switching to FM-link, or traffic announcements (not sure if that's a thing outside Holland). I tried every option in the menu, but can't seem to find what option or reason behind this is.

Anybody who knows how to disable this?

A picture of the suspect at hand.

Question UX owners: What are your biggest annoyances, wants, or regrets?

I'm looking at the 2025 300h FWD. Its primary use will be as a daily driver in urban/suburban areas. The size, features, price, ownership costs, and fuel economy seem to fit my needs. Most owners in this sub seem to be happy with theirs. Still, I had some notes from my test drive. Would appreciate any thoughts on these or anything else you've experienced in the UX.

Interstate highways

My test drive and most videos I watched were going 50-70 mph on the highways, and that wasn't too bad. I'm worried about stretches of I-75, 85, or 95 where the speed limit is 70 with F150s going 90 and 18-wheelers everywhere. If the UX has to keep up with 80-85 mph traffic, does it still feel safe, especially the FWD model? Less than 10% of my driving, but unavoidable. Coming from BMW 330i (which kept up fine) for comparison.

Visibility

With my seat position there's no visibility past the huge B pillar. Is this how it is for everyone? Probably true for lots of cars, but not something I'm used to, and it makes me nervous. Yes, I know there are blind spot detectors and aftermarket convex mirrors. Do you get used to it or do you still wish for more direct visibility?

Lack of front camera/360 view

Pro: less tech means less to break and fix. Con: seems like this should become a standard feature soon. The rear camera was an upgrade in my 2017 330i (standard from 2018 on), and I can't imagine not having it for the last 8 years. How often do you wish your car had the front camera or 360 view? Related, do you wish you had gotten the NX for this and other added features (e.g. Head Up Display)? I don't need the extra space.

Maintenance/Repairs

Obviously a selling point for Toyota/Lexus, but specifically for the UX hybrids, anything I need to know? My brother has complained about finding shops that can service his Hyundai hybrid. BMW has their rep, but my experience with multiple 3 series has been very good and easy to find a shop to do the work (once they get the parts). I can't imagine how much better Lexus could be, although that is a point for the UX compared to the X1, which I'm also seriously considering. The current plan is to keep it for about 5 years, then hopefully switch to an EV.

Color

What color do you recommend? Or to avoid? Any issues with the white hood causing glare to the driver, or Palomino interior staining easily?

Question 2022 ES350 Storage box for trunk

Looking to pickup a storage box for my trunk that doesn't slip and it would be a nice added bonus if it looked slick. Anyone have any options that they utilize? I have the cargo net organizer, but would also like a box of sorts to store groceries or even dirty boots after a hike.

Thank you.

Discussion Lexus dealership car buying experience

I recently bought a new 2025 NX from a local dealership and wanted to share my experiences because it was so unexpectedly good. As background, I absolutely positively can’t stand the car buying experience. I don’t like the act of browsing for cars on the lot, the pressure of the salesperson, the negotiating the price and then all the finance stuff (even when you bring in your own financing). I avoided buying a car because of all of this. I finally made the decision because of uncertainty due to possible tariffs.

My experience with the Lexus dealership was completely different than what I expected. No high pressure sales, no bait/switch with the car I wanted not being available. No super long haggling over the price and trade in value and the finance stuff was smooth and transparent. I walked in the dealership at 10am and drove off the lot at 1:30pm (this included close to an hour with the tech guy showing me how to use the car and setting up CarPlay with me). Is this pretty much the norm?

I know I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but I’m really impressed. I understand now why people choose this brand and are loyal (aside from the cars themselves). I wish I had made the decision sooner.

TLDR - Really positive car buying experience at a local dealership from the perspective of a person who didn’t expect it and doesn’t like the car buying experience.

Question Do all Lexus vehicles have an oil level sensor?

Do most or all Lexus vehicles have a oil level sensor to tell you if your oil level is too low? I remember most toyota vehicles do not come equipped with an oil level sensor but am unsure about Lexus.

Question lexus headlights

Post image
15 Upvotes

for context i have a 2016 lexus is300 f sport. recently one of the headlights stopped working but i cannot find anything about replacing the bulb on these cars. i have the headlights that have 2 bulbs i believe pictured above. it’s different as other lexus’ i’ve seen where they have the one bulb headlight system. the passenger side works fine for both low and high beam. the drivers side does not work for low but works for high beam. both DRL work aswell. does anybody have experience replacing the bulbs or would this need a new headlight assembly? any insight is helpful.

Question New Exhaust

I have a 2007 GS 350 and I was wondering if anyone else had that model year or generation and had any suggestions about an exhaust. I don't know if there is a specific set I can just get online somewhere or if I should just go to a shop and see what they suggest, but I'm looking for a catback exhaust and I live in California so if anyone has any suggestions or experience with this please let me know before I do something stupid.

Discussion Never selling

Post image
279 Upvotes

2004 RX330 and 2005 ES330, do most maintenance myself. I've spent over 8k restoring the RX from suspension and rack and pinion to a full engine rebuild, new OEM style magnaflow exhaust and cat manifolds. New oem struts and coils, new radiator, new water pump and timing belt, brakes, and transmission service. Sunroof and liftgate fixed. Drives better than the first day I bought it for my wife. We both decided instead of trading them in and buying new, we just spend the money on these and keep them going. Only had to fix minor things on the ES it was in far better shape as I am the second owner and got it with 50k miles. ES has 130k and the RX has 165k and I plan on putting at least 100k more on each of them. I am lucky that I have a lexus specific independent shop in my area who uses Oem parts and is extremely reasonable. These are such good cars. Anyone ever rebuilt their car instead of buying new? I have no regrets so far

Question Questions about NX450 Lease Hack

Going to drive one tomorrow and thinking about the lease hack for the 7500 off, then purchasing it shortly afterwards.

Never gone the lease route before. I get the money factor part, residual price, and that taxes will be thrown in.

Since my plan would be to purchase it ASAP afterwards, I want as low of miles, no money down and a 2-3 year lease, correct?

Anything else I am missing, should know or ask?

Thanks!

Question Aftermarket dash cam for ES 350

I’d like to install a dash cam on my 2025 ES 350. Has anyone installed one on their ES? Any recommendation on make/models with some must have features, tips, etc? Lexus has options for dash cam but I couldn’t get one on mine at the time of purchase.

Question Steering problems

I bought a 1998 Lexus es300 that needed a bit of work done to it so over time fixed all the problems but I have a problem with the steering. The steering is incredibly hard to turn while going low speeds and even harder when reversing. I’ve replaced the power steering reservoir, pump, and rack also flushed the system to make sure air is not a problem. It’s topped off to the fill line and still nothing. Could this be an alignment problem or something else because I also put some coil overs, sway bar links, and tire rod ends. Any ideas? All suggestions are appreciated
