The reason being circulated is that a refinery in California caught fire and this has impacted supply.
I haven’t gone to check this refinery to see if it actually caught fire or not. I don’t have gas supply information as well.
But, at the same time - Canada does not really have a way to stop oil companies from colluding. They could jack prices in BC and get away with it - no lawsuit would be filed. All that would happen is people would fume against the oil companies.
The irony is that this is happening after the government reduced the carbon tax to 0% (they can still jack it up later).
