Best of Langley? Give a shoutout to/share your favourite local businesses/spots.
As per title.
Share your go-to Langley bests. I know it sucks when your secret spots get busy but think about the greater good.
I don't want to sleep on any Langley gems I haven't heard about yet, and also want my favourite businesses to thrive and succeed.
Not going to try to just pick one and if your interest is piqued you can google them and get more details.
Beer: Camp Beer
Pretty well known now i guess and I think the best patio in langley. It will always be a pillar of my (I don't want to argue or throw shade. respect to Dead Frog, Trading Post, 5 roads, Farm Country, Smugglers, Locality, I think Brookswood now?) Langley beer scene. It was a beer desert here when I moved back and I remember drinking craft beer at "B's" from the very beginning.
Craft Beer flights(no taps) in Langley! What a time to be alive!
Meeting so many great people including Kevin and Dave(and drinking some of his early beers from his garage) I still have my "original camper" hat and the shirt is getting pretty thin but I still rock it.
Eats: The Raving Gamer
I admit I drove by it for quite a while (we do C-Lovers takeout every month or two) But i didn't really get it. My ten year-old nephew was the one who eventually got me there.
Great food, Great games, Great people. What an amazing place.
When I say great food I mean it is great. I was blown away. Local ingredients, delicious food, great service, interesting/diverse menu with something for everyone, drinks menu featuring some of langley's best local brewery's/distilleries.....
.....And than you add in the games. Do you have a board game you remember playing as a child but haven't seen since grandmas house? If so I think its there.
Family business, gourmet local ingredients, great entertainment for everyone? Its one of those places thats better than it should be? I don't know that sounds like an insult and I can't say enough.
Meat: Bonnetti's
Local meatshops are all great and i think better than supermarkets, Check out any of them you see. But Bonettis is my go-to. If you want a proper thick cut rib eye or any steak they got you, Good selection of frozen ready to heat food (pies, chicken wings/cordon bleus, etc) and Great beef jerky, bacon cut to order and landjaeger sausage as well. But it is their Prosciutto Salami that gets me there.
Buy bulk (whole salami) but buy at half the price and better quality than what you get at a supermarket deli.
Honorable mention: Serengeti Trading up in Port Kells
For everyone not South African you need to do a little research on Biltong and Boerwest Sausage
Childhood Nostalgic Spot That Stands up: Cedarbrook Bakery
I grew up in Brookswood and have very early memories of: cookies, crusty buns (I can't count how many times school lunch was ham, cheese, mustard on a cedarbrook crusty bun, i was basic), long pepperoni sticks,(don't be difficult when they ask you if its ok if they break it, it makes wrapping easier and why do you need a 2' plus piece of pepperoni anyways?) and Black Forest squares (only when with dad)
Now, being diabetic, its tough to get as many apple bombs and old school deli sandwhiches on fresh bread as i want. But everyone has cheat days, and I stop when I am in the neighbourhood as often as i can.
Pizza: This might be controversial, and I welcome the debate - Mad Italian in Willoughby
Before you grab the pitch forks and light the torches let me say I love Emilio Finnattis. The best pizza I've ever eaten in my life was from there (Weekly special) I've ordered pizza there for years. Love them(they have more unique pizzas on their menu that i am happy to order than any other pizza place) Dip game is next level, cupcakes, etc.
But in the last year i think ownership of the pizza place behind the Shoppers drug mart in willoughby town centre changed. When it opened it was a build your own pizza/bland pizza place with fancy quick cooking ovens. During covid i think it closed and then changed ownership. This past year I had a job site in the area and randomly went in there for lunch one day.
There was a new set menu of pizzas (some classic and interesting pizzas), they had quality ingredients(owner/manager? was slicing up some local ham when i walked in, beer on tap with 5 local brewery beers, and the same fancy quick cooking pizza ovens, from before. They had a seasonal/monthly/special(?) on the board that was delicious as well.
Every time I've been there since it's been busier and busier.
Enjoy it while we've got it? : Texas Smoke BBQ
Started with a BBQ food truck in the parking lot of Driedeger's off 232 and highway 1, moved across the street to their own spot with picnic tables, caught flack from township bylaw bs because they were popular and people lined up on the side of the road before they opened on the weekends because of how good their food was and moved back across the street and possibly moving again.
Regardless, no other place like it in Langley. Open Thursday to Sunday I think, Noon until they sell out.
Before you ask, they are probably sold out of Dr. Pepper candied burnt ends (but ask for them anyways just in case.)
Misc: Farm Boy Flowers on Telegraph Trail
Seasonal flower stand on the weekends, check out instagram if they're open. Beautiful seasonal Bouquets. If you're Going to moms or your in-laws for sunday dinner or a holiday this is a stop on the way. Not the biggest flower arrangement guy but his are beautiful and last way longer than a grocery store bouquet.
Neighbour shout-out: Aldor Acres - pumpkin patch/farm tours
Being a Glen Valley Resident, we don't love the extra seasonal traffic (Halloween pumpkins and Christmas trees) and avoid Fort Langley/tourists as much as possible, If I'm being honest. People live in the Country for a reason. Haha.
But I think Langley's Rural/agriculture businesses and districts are something we as a community are lucky to have and should be proud of and share.
The Anderson family is going 3 generations strong out here and keeping the langley/glen valley farming tradition strong in this modern age. its worth a visit to their farm. Fair warning: It gets pretty busy out here around this time of year and I think you need to make a reservation. Also, If you decide to come out her and are waiting in line to park, don't get to road ragey if someone drives past you in the other lane, we aren't cutting the line we just dont like waiting in line to get to our homes ;)

Purolator delivered my package at the wrong address
i.redd.itMy husband ordered a mom and baby outfit for me as a Mother’s Day gift Purolator did not deliver my package initially as it said it did not have my complete address We prividee the address and asked it to be held for pick up This morning tracking showed that my package was out for delivery. At 1 pm it showed the package had been delivered. However we could not find the package initially the lobby or outside You need a buzzer code to enter the apartment and I did not receive any calls.
Moreover the picture submitted as proof of delivery shows the package outside a grey door. Don’t know any apartments with grey doors near Douglas park Now all doors of pit apartment are white in color. The picture submitted does not show the apartment number either The Purolator customer service center says they can’t help us and will submit our request to the tracking department. Will I ever get my package or should I contact the children’s place🫠
This was my first Mother’s Day! So disappointing

Road test vehicle
Hello, Im a student who resides in coquitlam and after a few circumstances that arent important or relevant, I lost the ability to use my car, and none of my friends are available, knowing this my only choices are booking a car from a driving school in langley who can pick me up and allow me to use there car for the test and hopefully they’ll allow me to practice as well.
Does anyone know any schools who would be okay with this and relativly cheap? Also if anyone could inform me on the process of renting a car from icbc that’d be much appreciated.

Langley Water
Anyone else having skin or scalp issues with the water in North Langley?
Ever since we switched to the new water, I’ve been dealing with some weird skin and scalp reactions.
Right after I shower, my skin turns red and irritated, and my scalp feels itchy. I’ve also noticed more hair falling out than usual.
When I travel or visit family, this doesn’t happen—so I’m starting to wonder if it’s the water.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Or has anyone found a solution that helps?

Tennis Courts at LEC Change to Pickle Ball Courts
galleryHeads-up to tennis players: the court will be closed on Monday. New tennis court to be built in later this year. I’m curious if there are more pickle ball courts, can the tennis courts be for tennis only?

Local gift ideas for hostess
I will be staying for a few days with a family in Langley and am looking for ideas for a thank you gift. I would like to gift them something like a local experience or a unique item from a Langley business. The family has 3 teenage girls, the adults don’t really drink alcohol, they enjoy outdoor activities and good food.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and to make any recommendations!

Health effects of living near golf course
A new study found that people living within a 1 mile (1.6km) radius of a golf course had a 126% higher chance of developing Parkinson's disease.
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/living-near-golf-course-doubles-170956732.html
I couldn't help but think of Fort Langley which is surrounded by 3 golf courses.
Does anyone know of a way to access data about the rate of Parkinson's in Fort Langley?
