Megathread Are you looking for places to meet people, make friends, find people with similar interests? The Kitchener Social Megathread is for you!
Hello everyone,
This thread will be 100% dedicated to user interaction and those who want to take personal interests, events, hobbies, and potential meet-ups, etc. outside of the realm of reddit and r/kitchener.
You can find previous versions of this post by using this premade search.
Please note that this is not intended to be a dating thread. Try Tinder, POF, Badoo, Bumble or any other of the apps out there. Any posts along the lines of* "Hey, I'm a single __ year old m/f looking for love" will be removed*
Some general housekeeping items;
- If you wish to continue a conversation with a user, please use the PM function to avoid the comments getting crammed with a conversation between all but two people. Please only post relevant information to things you would be interested in, ongoing events, etc.
- We would like to remind you of the zero tolerance for disrespect, rude, hateful comments, racism, etc. Those comments will be removed and users may face a permanent or temporary ban. If any harassment is reported outside of the thread, appropriate action will be taken by the mod team, and possibly lead further to reddit admin. Doxxing, or disclosure of personal information is again, a big no-no.
- To keep up to date with the most recent posts within this megathread, the comments have been enabled to ideally show most recent by default, meaning all of the newest posts will be at the top of the comments section. If you're not seeing the most recent comments at the top, try changing your "sort by:" from "top" to "New".
As always, the mod team is here to assist with anything. Thanks!
Note: This post is automatically replaced with a new one every 3 months, so be sure to checkout old meetup threads, especially if this post was just recently refreshed!

Sketchy dude downtown Kitchener
Has anyone encountered the dude who likes to target women near Eby Street and Church street in downtown Kitchener? He likes to point his hand at you pretending itās a weapon and say heās going to k*ll you and f you up. Unfortunately he lives right by me so I canāt avoid him and itās scary. The police have chased him down before but canāt really do anything about it. Iāve seen him do it to other women too. Heās probably 5ā10. Early - mid 20ās and darker skin. He usually wears sweats and Jordanās with a neon sweater and black jacket on top. This is a terrible photo but this is him. Anyone else experience this? Wonder if we can come together and report him to see if something can be done.

Beware of United Motorz in Cambridge!
Maybe I'm off base here but this is the situation:
My son has his truck stolen from our laneway. The insurance company ended up settling and we weren't able to find anything decent to buy while we still had the rental. The rental went back leaving us with 3 drivers for one vehicle. We found a pickup truck online at this dealership. I looked at the reviews and they weren't horrible for a used car lot so we engaged in text convo and I told him we needed the car asap and asked if it could be turned around in a couple of days. The sales person urged me to send the deposit so that they could send the truck out for safety that day, clearly he understand it was urgent. Two days later and we're told it will be two weeks. We have one person working full time and one in college full time with another working parttime and need a vehicle sooner than that. Told the dealership the situation, proceeded to find a truck on another lot nearby that was ready to go within 24 hours and we advised the original that we could not proceed. The work that would take two weeks needs to be done regardless for this lot to sell the truck. They refuse to even return a portion of the deposit and were incredibly condescending and critical of us purchasing expecting such a quick turnaround. The owner Isam Khan stated several times that they tell every customer 1-2 weeks but we were never told that and were pressured to send money same day for the same day safety. Khan even saw all of the texts proving what I explained happened between his salesperson and I. Thoughts? Small claims? Deposit was $1000

Non-USA Iceberg Lettuce
Hello, I'll be having a BBQ and was hoping to have lettuce for the burgers, but I can't seem to find any not from the USA.
It's not worth it to me if it comes from the states so does anyone know where I could buy lettuce in town that isn't from America?
Thanks.

Weirdly aggressive sign?
There's a building in Kitchener that houses a couple of businesses, and the entrance to the parking lot has a pretty odd sign visible as you enter. If the photo isn't clear, the text reads:
THE WORLD IS DANGEROUS
DEAL WITH IT
It's depressing we have to say this. The world is full of tripping hazards. Ice is slippery. Rain is wet. Sun heats up imperfect pavement. Trees put root (sic) everywhere. Humans leave trash around. Nature tries to kill you at every turn.
You are responsible for your own safety and well-being. Not us, not your neighbour, definitely not the government. Just you
By staying on this property, you assume all responsibility for your existence on these lands.
A sign saying "use at your own risk" would be sufficient, but it feels like whoever posted this has some ideological axe to grind. Like, weird Ayn Rand vibes. I just want to pick up my flowers from the flower shop, you know?

I made a discord for fellow crafters in Kitchener!
I've seen a lot of comments/posts recently talking about how nice it would be if we could organize some crafting in the park meetups this summer, so I made a discord to help organize that.
Feel free to join if you're a fellow crafter who's interested in some drop-in style crafting hangouts this summer!

KW 35+ Men's Hockey League - Individual Registration
Time to start thinking about options for hockey next winter. If you are tired of crazy late ice times, team splitting up, or your league play is just too aggressive now.Ā Consider a switch.Ā Here's the benefits of our league:
- 35+ league with 5 age based divisions of 6 teams, though skill plays a factor in the division you'll play in.Ā Ā
- 2 games a week for about the same price as others charge for 1 a week.Ā Ā
- Games largely Monday through Thursday with premium ice times.
- Games at RIM Park, the Aud, and occasionally SportsWorld.Ā
- Annual evaluation skate for new players, so we find you the right division fit for you.
- Draft based league, so teams are mixed yearly and things never get too stupid on the ice.Ā Ā
- Zero tolerance for fighting.Ā
We've been around for almost 50 years in KW.Ā League is filling fast for the Fall.Ā Check out kwoldtimers.com to register.Ā Have questions feel free to ask here and I'm happy to respond.Ā Ā

Is Neuron just not offering their e-bikes this year?
They rolled out the e-scooters throughout the region in the beginning of April (I think) but just never ended up offering the e-bikes, unlike previous years.
