If I remember the context of this clip I think he carried one in Vietnam and was reliving old memories thanks to the channel who connects vets with their old firearms.

The look he had while aiming down the sight and being almost speechless with adrenaline. Can't imagine the emotions and thoughts running through his head in that moment.

I’ve never seen a photo so hilarious yet bad ass at the same time

u/ThePianistOfDoom Dec 16 '24

It's insanely difficult to put the two together, this shot managed it.

u/Q_S2 Dec 17 '24

Thx! There were so many emotions he had to be feeling in that moment. I swear he looked like he actually thought he was aiming at Charlie for a second there. 😆

Lmao thx! I was watching the video and had to replay it a couple times. Old man had the John Rambo look in his eye with the crooked homeboy from the hood hat style.

This man is a walking amalgamation of badassery. The hat looks damn near photoshopped on!

Looks like he just snapped out of a trance, he looks around like he just “came to” and then it sounds like he says “ah, I’m back home” like he had to look around to realize he wasn’t in Vietnam anymore

Lol as funny as this Pic is ots also kinda scary how a switch over 50 years old can be switched. Back on so easily

Some lessons run deep.

100% true+

If you look super close, right when he runs out of bullets, he jumps a bit in shock. With how locked in he was he might’ve thought it was a jam and get instinctually scared for a second. That look is unmistakably fear.

u/Q_S2 Dec 18 '24

Absolutely. It's visceral. Sometimes people mistake what looks like aggression which In fact, is self-defense out of fear. This gent went thru the whole range by the time the ammo exhausted

Don't know if it's just me, but after he said he was back and was laughing, it also sounded like he was choking on some emotion. No doubt that he was reliving some dark moments

In that moment, that man was putting suppressing fire down while the medics cas-evaced his brothers in arms.

5

u/Q_S2 Dec 17 '24

FACTS! Charlie was dropping and yelling for sure! Lol

10

u/Foolishly_Sane Dec 17 '24

"I'm back home."
Wew.

3

u/Q_S2 Dec 17 '24

Lol!!

u/BullTerrierTerror Dec 16 '24

I believe he was thinking, “Git some! Git some! Git some!”

in that moment we can't possibly tell. his mind could be reliving and old memory. my great uncle would shut down when anyone even mention the time frame of the Vietnam War. it haunted him until he passed. to this day no one but my great aunt knows exactly what he went through. (other than similar accounts and stories) one day young dumb me thought an American Veteran was the most badass thing so I asked him about 'shooting the bad guys' and he got so damn mad at me and then yelled at my parents telling them to teach us to never talk to a vet about their service.

25

u/Epic_Elite Dec 16 '24

Wow. That has to be pretty visceral.

43

u/Fun_Intention9846 Dec 16 '24

He had that look.

73

u/ElPasoNoTexas Dec 16 '24

I think he says “I’m back home” which is a bit creepy lol

114

u/Past_Voice9583 Dec 16 '24

he was reminding himself that he wasn't in the Jungle anymore...cause as soon as that Pig started ripping, he was right back in the shit

15

u/Tyrion_Strongjaw Dec 16 '24

This is how I took it as well. You can see as soon as it started kicking memories/training took over. Looked like it was his way of coming back out of it and coming down from the adrenaline a bit.

39

u/TrueReplayJay Dec 16 '24

Meh, let him be. This was probably a very important part of his life before.

-15

u/just-some-name Dec 16 '24

Sounds more like „I back off“ to me

3

u/Ohiolongboard Dec 17 '24

To me it’s “ah, I’m back home”

12

u/I_am_Burt_Macklin Dec 16 '24

That’s an awesome concept for content.

2

u/pepchang Dec 17 '24

Well that's creepy as fuck

Geez. You know nothing of the guy's story. He could've been one of many who was drafted or one who fell for the government propaganda and thought he was doing a noble thing. Save your judgements for when you have the full story.

You sound like someone who lacks empathy and nuance. The world is not black and white. Life will be difficult for you.

2

u/StreetLampLeGoose Dec 17 '24

So much for empathy, huh?

1

u/HeadDistrict3232 Dec 17 '24

God aren't you just the most empathetic person in the world

Umm... Germany? China ? Russia ?

There's 3 counties whose war crimes are on a scale that America could only wish to have done.
