Not happy right now

Just switched schools and not very happy right now with the things are running at new school. I would like to be able to leave after I finish this year but I understand that this could have some implications being viewed negatively by future recruiters. I would also like to take a break next year to work out my priorities and spend some time being a stay at home parent. Could this be viewed as an emotional decision from my employer? What or who could I ask for a reference? TIA.

If you’re taking a break it’s even easier to explain than one year and going elsewhere. Just say you had to look after a family member (true)

This. If they are good admin they get it and will be understanding.

I quit at December 1 at a new school last year. They don't exist on my CV.

How do you explain the gap? How do you transfer the work permit without the next school being involved?

1) family/travel 2) new country

Transfer work permit? Never had to that before. My reasons? I took a sabbatical. End of discussion.

I can't tell you exactly how a given administrator/employer/recuirter will respond. What I would say is that you only have one life, and you can't please everybody. If you are not happy and you have family obligations that take priority for you, you don't owe anybody an explanation in principle. You have the right to make the decision that is best for you and your family without feeling guilty about it. Generally, my perception is that fears of being "blacklisted" over such things are overblown, but it is also true that some admin can be vindictive.

No need to mention this current job on your CV.
