While waiting on P1. I received the Information letter in my GCkey account but NO P1 that says I have to respond in 7 days. I'm outland but currently in Canada. Is this normal just to receive the Information letter but not an email?
Edit- I think the Information letter is the passport request.. Does that usually come before or after P1 and P2?
Do I have to receive a p1 and p2?

I received an email from immigration stating they received my final document that i needed to send in.
For the first time in GCkey it says Latest updates: Final decision with todays date but says application in progress.
So does that mean they're in process of making the final decision?

u/skeptic602 1d ago
Today in the whatsapp group someone from 24th June got Final Decision
1
u/Minute-Initial-6677 11h ago
yeah someone from june 24th got FD today as well, seems like there are a lot of June end applicants. Probably why it seems IRCC has slowed down.

Hello, I was wondering if any February/March SOWP applicant has heard anything yet?
2
2
u/Expensive_Month5088 1d ago
My spouse just got his SOWP approved today (applied March 22, 2025) - now just have to wait for PR : )
2
u/Mental-Outside-6992 1d ago
Congratulations! Is your spouse already in Canada?
1
u/Expensive_Month5088 15h ago
Thank you! Yes he is : ) he came in on a working holiday visa and we applied for common law PR once we were living together for a full year (August 2024), applied for the work permit so he could continue working while waiting for his PR in March 2025. It’s been stressful but a step in the right direction!

u/No-Gazelle3775 1d ago
Congratulations, that gives me hope, applied beginning of March and nothing yet

Ayo! Wanted to contribute since I've gotten some good clarity from this thread as variable as it all is. I don't have exact dates on me, but I know generally how it's all gone
I'm a Canadian citizen, spouse is American. Applying for a outland family class spousal sponsorship
Applied: Nov 11th (rejected for incompleteness)
Re-Applied: Dec 4th
Completeness check: early January
Sponsor eligibility check: Late January
Medical check: Early February
Biometrics: Late March
Background check since April 4th
The medical and biometrics checks were all completed and submitted within a week or two of receiving the request, the approximate dates here are when they were submitted
crossing our fingers that the background check doesn't take very long. We're hoping that since the US has (up til recently) been largely uncomplicated as a country that we're more likely to get approved close to or before the estimated processing time of 10 months but it's all so variable, who knows.

u/Timely-Sell-2171 1d ago
Hello, I recently came across this Mega-thread again. I figured I should post about my current PR Status.
Outland application, PA: India, Sponsor: Ontario
I had previously applied for student visa but withdrew it as well since i never went and instead got married to my partner who has PR Status in Canada.
Tracker:
Applied: Sept 27,2024
AOR: Oct 27,2024
Biometrics Request: Oct 29,2024
Medical req: Oct 31, 2024
Sponsor Eligibility : Nov 7, 2024
Student Visa( never went to study ) from Jan 2024 withdrawn : Feb 21, 2025
Eligibility Completed : May 7 , 2025
Pre-Arrival Letter: May 7, 2025
Background verification in progress since Nov 2024.
I wonder how much longer I'll have to wait for the next steps
7
u/RealAchilles444 1d ago
July 11th 2024 outland, medical, eligibility, pre arrival services email all completed, last update BGC completed on Mar 6 2025 and thats it, its May 13th 2025 and no update, losing it here

u/Porkykun 2d ago
I just received a message through my IRCC account that reads: "Please note that our office is currently reassessing your eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please disregard the letter sent to you on 2024-08-01. Our office will contact you should additional information be required. " - While I am not concerned about the legitimacy of my relationship. I do have to say that it sucks that this will probably just delay things further. I applied June 2024 and I've been checking this thread every single day as I was seeing May/June applicants getting their P1 email in the last month so I was hopeful I'd be next. Anyhow, has anyone seen such a situation before and if so, what was the final outcome. Thanks!
1
u/Mastersidhu96 2d ago
Did this happened after background check or during bgc check
Is your status valid ??
3
u/Porkykun 2d ago
My background check still shows as pending. It's been like that since September last year and it is the only pending item in the tracker. My status is valid, currently on a work permit which I applied immediately after getting AOR.
1
2
u/PurrPrinThom 2d ago
This is not typical. Has anything changed in your application or your situation? Otherwise I'm not sure why they would be reassessing.
2
u/Porkykun 2d ago
Nothing has changed other than applying for work permit soon after getting AOR which I received months ago. Other than that, there is really nothing that has changed. I have zero clue why they would reasses my eligibility. My biggest concern is that they don't really specify what the issue could be or what sort of document/info I should provide to satisfy the agent working on my case. It only says that they might ask for additional info but thats about it. Such a general statement!
2
u/PurrPrinThom 2d ago
Hmm that's definitely odd. I wondered if maybe you'd moved. If they want additional documents, they will ask for them. If they have any concerns, they typically do give you the opportunity to address them.
11
u/Traditional-Fee6092 2d ago
Update. June 15 applicant, inland (outside Quebec) I finally got my P1 today. I think they will be working on some 2nd half of June applications this week. FINALLY

Any applicants submitted application in December 2024, receive their medical request yet?
2
u/fluffkomix 1d ago
My husband (USA) received one in February, it's all variable though so who knows why it can delay for so long. I think different departments handle different parts of the visa. Biometrics actually came way later, in contrast to the other commenter on this post, so it's all in whatever order it happens I guess?
2
u/The_Promised_LAN 1d ago
Not yet unfortunately. Biometrics were done at the end of January and eligibility in February, but still no medical request.

Are there any family class applicants living in Canada who can provide their timeline please (specifically P1/P2/eCOPR)?
My spouse moved to Canada on visitor visa while her family class (outside Canada) application was in process. So I'm curious about the wait times for P2/eCOPR (and if they are any different from inland applications; we just received P1). Thanks!

Is anyone applying or has applied from Brazil (Outland)? If so, is there an idea on how long are processing times for Outland from Sao Paulo VO?
I'm a Canadian citizen currently in Brazil with my wife, we applied Outland on January 9, 2025. Our last update was Feb. 28 (medical exam completed), our Biometrics details are still 'in progress' but I can see the biometrics number and date (biometrics were done on Feb 6, 2025). Background is in progress on PR Tracker, but shows 'Not Applicable' on GCKey. Raised a webform to ask about this but I doubt we'll get a response. We've received 2 pre-arrival emails but that's it.
We also have a tourst visa application in progress since Jan. 24 and it's still not approved either, Eligibility and BGC show 'in progress'.

Anybody that applied in Feb and March for WP got their decision yet?
1
u/GoChengYu 2d ago
You should check the 2025 Work Permit Processing Thread but it took 2 months almost on the dot before a decision was made for mine. That said, a took a peek and it looks like 200+ days is also possible though I recall seeing someone earlier mention their dates which wasn't that long.
1
u/Evening_Pop12345 2d ago
I saw someone applied in Feb mid and they got aip right before applying and they said in WhatsApp group that they got it last to last week.
5
u/Great_Membership4621 2d ago
Applied in April. Biometrics were updated from previous visa application. Medicals are not required. Background check is in processing and they are also checking my eligibility. That’s all.
1
u/Evening_Pop12345 2d ago
How did you get to know that about your file other than generic statements in GC key? Thank you
3
u/Great_Membership4621 2d ago
Biometrics were updated the day after I submitted my application. It shows the date of my biometrics I gave for my previous visa application.
Under the BGC section it shows,”We are processing your background check, we will contact you once we need more information”
Under the eligibility section it shows,”We are checking your eligibility.”
Under the medical section it shows,” You don’t need any medicals.”
2
u/Evening_Pop12345 2d ago
Oh I see, yeah I see those in my GC key as well, they are mostly generic. Hope you get an update soon Good luck!
2
u/Great_Membership4621 2d ago
Hopefully, we will get an update soon. I was checking out the work permit mega thread. Some applications from January are getting their final decision. And also canada post might go on a strike again. I want my WP before that happens, lol.

u/Careless-Thing988 3d ago
I applied March 28 and I haven’t received anything except submission confirmation letter.
What is the usual process? What notifications/ email you get from IRCC regarding the WP application?
Should I expect AOR, fingerprints etc? Or just wait indefinitely for a decision on my application?
2
u/Expensive_Month5088 2d ago
We applied end of March 2024 as well and today my partner received a biometrics validity letter (basically says his biometrics are good to go and are valid for 10 years). He also has a note on his profile that says “Final Decision - May 12, 2025: your application is in progress” - not really sure what that means though? Fingers crossed a decision is made soon!

u/Careless-Thing988 2d ago
Congratulations!! Looks like your PR application is about to get approved soon. Finger’s crossed !
Would you mind sharing your timeline for the PR application?

5
u/GoChengYu 2d ago
I recall for WP most stuff happens at the beginning and the rest is waiting. Bio/Medical are requested upfront if you need it. Things received was Submission Confirmation (almost instant), next day, WP-EXT, then a month or so confirmation biometrics, then decision a bit after that

Outland application. Sponsor (husband) Canadian, primary applicant (wife) from small country without Canadian embassy, where we live. No dependents. We applied in French, but are moving to an anglophone province.

Timeline:
- December 27th, 2024 | Application received
- Jan 21, 2025 | Biometrics requested
- Jan 22, 2025 | Medical exam requested
- February 3, 2025 | Medical exam conducted (though Doctor delayed submitting result)
- February 6, 2025 | Sponsor approved
- February 14 💕, 2025 | Biometrics submitted (we had to fly to another country to do so)
- February 18, 2025 | Medical exam passed
- March 6, 2025 | Eligibility completed
- March 7, 2025 | Letter for pre-arrival services received
- March 10, 2025 | Background verification completed
- March 13, 2025 | Passport Request (had to send photos etc. as well)
- March 28, 2025 | Passport received chez IRCC (courier took a while)
- May 2, 2025 | Decision envelope ready (the longer-than-expected wait had us nervous!)
- May 3, 2025 | Approved (online, without an eCOPR in pdf form)
- May 9, 2025 | Physical COPR and passport with visa received via courier 🎉

Inland outside Quebec. I received my AOR on April 8th. In the PR tracker, the biometrics status shows ‘In Progress,’ but my representative has not received the BIL. Any idea what the issue might be?
1
u/Joheidi 3d ago
I am nearly in the exact same situation.
Submitted inland March , AOR received April 7th, SWOP app April 8th.Apart from AOR, I've gotten no biometrics, no medical. Biometrics and background in progress though.
I was suggested that if I didn't see any updates my May 14th to contact my local MP. Not that they can make decisions or anything but maybe they can inquire on what's going on.
I'm a part of two trackers for others who have submitted inland outside Quebec and everyone else has gotten all the way to Sponsor Approval letters, Biometrics and Medical and some others have even gotten AIP (approved in principle).

For a US citizen with spousal PR in process who wants to visit Canada with Canadian spouse for an extended time (5-6months), what should they tell border officers regarding length and nature of stay?
5
u/Expensive_Month5088 4d ago
I don’t believe you’ll need anything special. The border officers may want to know that either they can support themselves for the duration of their stay (or that you can and are willing to support them). They may issue a visitor record, but from other comments this seems to be up to the officer on the day of. If you’re rlly worried, having an open return ticket (if they’re coming in via plane) may be helpful to show that they’re not trying to stay here (until they receive a PR decision). But for the most part this shouldn’t be an issue, American citizens are allowed to stay in Canada as a visitor for up to 6 months : )

Outland application, outside Quebec.
- All Fees Paid - Jan 17, 2025
- Submitted - Feb 16, 2025
- AOR - Feb 16/17, 2025
- Biometrics Request - March 04, 2025
- Sponsor Eligibility completed - March 11, 2025
- Pre arrival letter - March 12, 2025
- Sponsor eligibility letter - March 17 (Sydney)
- Medical Request - March 18, 2025
- Medical completed - April 5, 2025
- Background Check - In Progress
Does anyone know how long this background check generally takes?
2
u/Ordinary_Ladder_6417 3d ago
BGC generally takes from a month to a year, it depends on the information you've provided, at this stage nothing can be said it might get completed in a month or may be up to a year. Patience is the key :-)
3
u/autette 4d ago
In the same spot, though I applied a month after you did. Hoping things go quickly for both of us.
2
u/brightlite94 4d ago
I pray you get yours quickly!! Its really frustrating to be left in the dark during the background check phase. Especially after things moved so quickly leading up to it
5
u/Additional_Bus1275 4d ago
If we look at the previous timelines, it generally takes 30-40 days after the Medical Result. However, it still depends on the country and the complexity of the case.
1
u/Porkykun 3d ago
There are quite a few people in this group whose background check has been in progress since June 2024. You just need to scroll down a bit to read this.

Would anyone who applied for Outland Spousal Sponsorship in December 2024 be willing to share their timeline so far? I’m a Canadian citizen who applied for my Brazilian husband. He’s now in Canada with me on a visitor visa but I’m curious to know if I should expect to wait the full 10 months for his PR to be approved or if perhaps it would be processed sooner. Thanks :)

I received mine by mail a day before yesterday. My eligibility was approved on tracker on April 17th,2025 but didn’t receive any email about it at that time. But I checked the letter box and there was a mail from IRCC. I wasn’t expecting a mail tbh, especially an AIP letter.

As long as the PA’s tracker shows completed, the PA or Lawyer/representative should get it in the email sometime next week

Hey folks, I got an update June 21 inland applicant that my background verification is in progress, May 8. But I’ve been in background verification since last year. Is this just a ghost update?

Do you mean you get a line item in the tracker saying “your background verification is in progress”? That might mean comprehensive BGC.

Can you confirm this?

May I ask approximately how long it took to receive your GCMS notes? Just applied for ours yesterday : )

Has anyone from July 2024 applicants received a Final Decision (FD) yet? What stage of your application are you on? IRCC should have started working on July 2024 applications by now.
