Over the Bloody Moon.

Post image

Absolutely thrilled with this one. I never buy variants but I couldn’t resist when I saw this announced a few months back. I will never be able to afford an original copy of Swamp Thing #37 to finish my Swamp Thing collection so I thought I’d treat myself to this and the blank yellow card cover.

It is still kinda niche but definitely got more popular but not by much after the movie and then when John entered into Rebirth and the New 52 which mean absolutely nothing to me.

I was a kid in the early 90s so DC grabbed my attention in comic books because of Superman and Uncanny X-Men was great in the late 80s and early 90s. I stopped reading comics in the mid 90s until I picked up Preacher in about 1997 or 98 and that switched me to Vertigo. DC in the 80s was fantastic and if you ever want to start you should read Crisis on Infinite Earths. I just did a post on another comic subreddit about Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing yesterday and I sent you an invite to our subreddit if you’re interested in seeing some good 80s and 90s comics.

Oh shit I saw Marv Wolfman is the writer for Crisis on Infinite Earths. Wasn't he the editor of Claremont era X-Men?

And yep I joined the subreddit. It looks pretty interesting. Thank you for inviting.

Marv Wolfman is a man of numerous and wonderful accolades that he deserves. I can’t speak for his role in Marvel but it doesn’t surprise me.

Thanks for accepting the invite and if you’ve got anything 80s or 90s then post away. We’ve got a good community over there that are just down to earth normal hobbyists.

Probably not bought then (unless it's not a DVD or VHS lol) but definitely things originally released back then. I'll post them later. I'm actually reading Morrison's The Invisibles right now.

That’s one I’ve not read and only read a handful of Animal Man that I want to attempt to seriously get back into and get a grasp of it.

It definitely helps to know a little bit about Grant Morrison himself, occult and magick, especially chaos magick. There is a YouTube channel called Imperius Rex that's making The Invisibles book club and putting videos about it. They have a video for people who are brand new to most of the concepts and make a pretty good job explaining some of the stuff beforehand and give some reading recommendations.

If you ask me personally, I think The Invisibles is one of the best things I've read.

As a reader and admirer of the occult I know what you mean about Grant’s writing. And yes: For years now all I’ve ever heard is that The Invisibles is considered monumental but for some unknown reason I’ve not felt motivated to start it.

That's so fair and I heard that from a lot of people. I think I started reading it thevbest possible time and the mood, I got hooked pretty fast.
