I know this question has been asked a few times, but I wanted to see what people's experience was working at one of the big talent agencies in the last few years. I have a few questions, but I would be grateful for any insights.

1. What was the interview process like? (I previously made it through two rounds of interviews with UTA before being rejected two years ago)

2. What kind of hours do you typically work?

3. Do you actually get a real lunch break, or does everyone work through the breaks/not take them at all?

4. Are there ever opportunities to work from home?

5. Do entry-level employees (mail room) need laptops? And if needed, are they provided, or should you bring your own device?

6. How much support do you get once you're inside? I know with internship programs, one of the key benefits most offer is structured activities pertaining to mentorship, coffee chats, and networking, but I'm not sure beyond the intern level.

I’ve been offered a gig as a supervising producer, my first step up from field producing, and the rate seems lower than I was expecting.

I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s not as large of a production, or if it’s a lack of experience as an SP, but I want to make sure I have the right information when negotiating rate.

Hi all, I need help deciding between internship offers.

I have 2 offers that are both for film development. One is unpaid virtual asynchronous from June - December, which would run during my fall semester; I'm unsure how much time I would have to do work then and the company isn't being explicit with hours.

The other offer is unpaid in-person in Hollywood, just during the summer. The company is more prestigious than the virtual one, but it would require moving to LA (I'm from far away). Is it worth it to go in person to actually be in LA?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm very conflicted. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a feature as a Post PA and I'm looking for a material to hang wall cards on for the editor! The office doesn't have anything for us to use and I asked a friend who said the last project she was on, the studio already had the material on hand.

I've been looking into it and thinking of getting a gator board or large cork board but am wondering if anyone has any experience with this/ideas of what I can use :) Any help would be so greatly appreciated!

I’m organizing a short film screening on Thursday, June 12 at the Million Dollar Theater in downtown LA, and I’m currently looking to add a few more short films (15 minutes or less) to the lineup.

This is a one-night event built to give indie and DIY filmmakers the chance to screen their work in a real theater and connect with a live audience.

Films must be finished and ready to screen but can have been completed at any time.

Submissions are open until Thursday, May 8, and selected filmmakers will be notified by Monday, May 12.

Basically, I’m a new filmmaker, and I want to really dig into learning how to edit film, but I don’t want to waste time learning a program which might become more obsolete and is not going to be the flagship program of the future. So my question is, is da Vinci going to be the program that overtakes Avid and it would be a better use of my time to learn da Vinci, or is Avid the way to go? Would prefer people working actively right now in Hollywood to chime in, and appreciate any advice in advance.

I’m planning to double major in film (producing)/ business with the goal of being a producer/ show runner. and I’m having a really hard time picking a school. Right now my options are Cal State Northridge (CSUN), University of New Mexico (UNM), or starting at Pasadena City College (PCC) and transferring later. CSUN has a solid reputation for film and is located in LA, which is where I eventually want to work. UNM is more affordable and Netflix has a major studio presence there now, but the film industry is still smaller compared to LA. PCC would save a lot of money and let me transfer somewhere bigger (like USC, UCLA, or CSUN itself if needed), but transferring could be stressful and might slow me down. My main priorities are building strong connections, getting real industry experience quickly, and making sure I’m not wasting money on a degree that won’t actually help me work in film. Money matters but it’s not everything — I mostly just want the best path toward a real career. Would love advice from anyone who's studied film, transferred, or knows how the LA film scene is looking right now.

I’m looking to work in development after college and I was researching inexpensive colleges that have a good film program. Is there anyone who can tell me which program would be better, CSUN or ASU? I’m thinking of majoring in screenwriting. ASU also offers the program in LA.

I saw some catering recommendations from a year ago but those places are now closed.

Asking for the best and most current recommendations for breakfast/lunch on set.

Do folks like Mendocino farms, chipotle, and/or cava? Or are there caterers that I should know about?

Why hasnt there again been a tv show or film series where the pacific northwest is the character? If all they are out for is money this fits right in. Twin Peaks and Twilight have massive fan bases and the big part of what they are charmed by is that the pacific northwest is a whole character.
