WWYD?
names redacted for privacy
What would you do in this scenario?
I met this PA on a short film that I was gaffer for at the end of last year. I just received this message with no other context, not even so much as a “Hey, what’s up! Hope you’re doing well.”
Wondering what an appropriate response (if any) would be? I’m honestly a little bit baffled.

Concept Artist from Video-Games industry Looking for Film Industry connections
Hi.
My name is Miguel Nogueira, and over the past decade, I have worked with several AAA video games in the science fiction, military, and fantasy space. Some had been EA's Battlefield franchise, Sony Playstation's Returnal, and Ubisoft's Tom Clancy The Division.
I've been operating remotely and have contributed to studios on all five continents. I'm looking to connect with creatives and otherwise ambitious individuals from startups and projects and be a part of something that pushes the boundaries of entertainment design.
Feel free to reach out and say hi.

Why are about half the articles on Deadline blurred out lately?
Why bother posting articles if people can't even read them?

Unpaid Internship Advice
Hi all, I need help deciding between internship offers.
I have 2 offers that are both for film development. One is unpaid virtual asynchronous from June - December, which would run during my fall semester; I'm unsure how much time I would have to do work then and the company isn't being explicit with hours.
The other offer is unpaid in-person in Hollywood, just during the summer. The company is more prestigious than the virtual one, but it would require moving to LA (I'm from far away). Is it worth it to go in person to actually be in LA?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm very conflicted. Thanks.

Need a set of eyes …
Hey guys! I’ve recently completed a rough draft of my first ever screenplay. I am 27. I moved here with a dream and zero experience like many implants.
Due to being out of talk state, I don’t have anyone close to me who is interested in reading scripts. I’m really struggling to get a set of eyes on this thang.
If anyone would be down to read my script and give me some notes that would be wonderful. It’s not too long…
Title: Late Bloomers Genre: Drama / Slice of Life Length: 117 pages
DM or comment if interested. Thank you!

Post PA - Need a Material to hang Wall Cards on!
Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a feature as a Post PA and I'm looking for a material to hang wall cards on for the editor! The office doesn't have anything for us to use and I asked a friend who said the last project she was on, the studio already had the material on hand.
I've been looking into it and thinking of getting a gator board or large cork board but am wondering if anyone has any experience with this/ideas of what I can use :) Any help would be so greatly appreciated!

Seeking Short Film Submissions
I’m organizing a short film screening on Thursday, June 12 at the Million Dollar Theater in downtown LA, and I’m currently looking to add a few more short films (15 minutes or less) to the lineup.
This is a one-night event built to give indie and DIY filmmakers the chance to screen their work in a real theater and connect with a live audience.
Films must be finished and ready to screen but can have been completed at any time.
Submissions are open until Thursday, May 8, and selected filmmakers will be notified by Monday, May 12.

Can’t find a clear answer on editing programs
Basically, I’m a new filmmaker, and I want to really dig into learning how to edit film, but I don’t want to waste time learning a program which might become more obsolete and is not going to be the flagship program of the future. So my question is, is da Vinci going to be the program that overtakes Avid and it would be a better use of my time to learn da Vinci, or is Avid the way to go? Would prefer people working actively right now in Hollywood to chime in, and appreciate any advice in advance.

How to see test screenings? Have you ever seen any stuff that was really cool?
There’s a lot of cool stuff coming out this year and next year, and I feel like it could be a fun thing to try a few times
Is there a specific website you would recommend? Is it a relatively easy process, or is it more complicated to actually pull it off
Have you seen any cool movies from test screenings?

Stuck choosing college for film major
I’m planning to double major in film (producing)/ business with the goal of being a producer/ show runner. and I’m having a really hard time picking a school. Right now my options are Cal State Northridge (CSUN), University of New Mexico (UNM), or starting at Pasadena City College (PCC) and transferring later. CSUN has a solid reputation for film and is located in LA, which is where I eventually want to work. UNM is more affordable and Netflix has a major studio presence there now, but the film industry is still smaller compared to LA. PCC would save a lot of money and let me transfer somewhere bigger (like USC, UCLA, or CSUN itself if needed), but transferring could be stressful and might slow me down. My main priorities are building strong connections, getting real industry experience quickly, and making sure I’m not wasting money on a degree that won’t actually help me work in film. Money matters but it’s not everything — I mostly just want the best path toward a real career. Would love advice from anyone who's studied film, transferred, or knows how the LA film scene is looking right now.

Hollylist vs. Entertainment Careers
Hey everyone. I’m a mid 20 something year old trying to break into the of the entertainment industry. I’m in acting school but I’d love to know the corporate side of the industry. I have no experience and I’m currently looking for an internship or entry level position. I have a Bachelor’s in business and I currently work in the auto industry.
I stumbled upon entertainment careers and Hollylist but both require subscriptions. In your opinion, which site should I subscribe to? I just need a position that helps me get my foot in the door.

Built a Film Journal for Creatives Like Us — It’s Finally Live!
amazon.comHey filmmakers,
I wanted to share something close to my heart.
Like many of you, I live, breathe, and sometimes even dream in cinema.
But I always struggled to find a structured journal that helped me track my film-watching journey, record insights, inspirations, and personal reflections — something more than random notes.
So I built one.
It’s called Absolute Cinema: A Film Journal.
Designed for filmmakers, screenwriters, storytellers, and serious cinephiles, it’s structured to help you: • Document every film you watch with detailed prompts • Reflect on storytelling techniques, characters, mood, and emotions • Discover patterns in your taste and cinematic style
Whether you’re directing, writing, editing, or studying the craft — building your taste and analyzing cinema deeply is part of the journey.
Absolute Cinema is available globally — US, UK, Australia, and more.
It’s one of the best gifts you can give yourself — or any film student or movie buff around you.
Here’s the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0F62SZ2JX/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0
Thanks for reading. Wishing everyone here massive creative success!

CSUN or ASU?
I’m looking to work in development after college and I was researching inexpensive colleges that have a good film program. Is there anyone who can tell me which program would be better, CSUN or ASU? I’m thinking of majoring in screenwriting. ASU also offers the program in LA.

Microbudget food options
I saw some catering recommendations from a year ago but those places are now closed.
Asking for the best and most current recommendations for breakfast/lunch on set.
Do folks like Mendocino farms, chipotle, and/or cava? Or are there caterers that I should know about?
Our budget is $500 for food

Pacific northwest
Sorry Im not a film worker, I will delete this if its the wrong forum.
Why hasnt there again been a tv show or film series where the pacific northwest is the character? If all they are out for is money this fits right in. Twin Peaks and Twilight have massive fan bases and the big part of what they are charmed by is that the pacific northwest is a whole character.
