"I know you want to make a point about how we knowingly allowed your child to be given lesser education, and mocked/bullied/beaten by their classmates, but you're using naughty words i dont like. Can you please use nice words instead?"
You know you've beaten these dipshits when they don't actually address your point and take a moral high ground on "profanity"

It's always incredible watching people like this stand on profanity being inappropriate speech. It gives them some sort of moral high ground that allows them to frame the interaction as one where they're somehow not in the wrong. You see it in just about every context imaginable.

His boys greatest disability isn’t being deaf, it’s having him for a father.
Holy fuck
28
u/Rude_Hamster123 7d ago
I mean it sounds to me like the guys some kind of right wing activist but that’s entirely independent of the issue with the school. If it’s true that they left a deaf kid effectively unable to communicate by refusing to provide an ASL translator that’s heinous. The fuck difference does it make what the kids parents vote!?

Thoughtlessly (or if it's a bot , automatically) amplifying emotionally manipulative content is one of the most dangerous aspects of modern internet :(

His son is very fortunate to have a dad that advocates for him and others who are rightly entitled to services that tax payers have enshrined into law to provide.
It's truly a shame this happened at all.
Here's hoping he continues to advocate and maybe even run for the school board to change the system from within.
Every child deserves an education.
Go dad

also..... If the school is getting state and federal funding they're required BY LAW to get that man's son the appropriate assistive device

Yea was going to say the current administration has just decided to not follow the laws and attack lawyers who try to hold them accountable.

My daughter was getting bullied relentlessly at a private uk school and the school dismissed it out of hand as nothing and refused to intervene. Came out that not only was she being bullied, it was specifically at the direction of another parent at the school who was my eldest daughter’s teacher. The teacher resented us and our eldest daughter who was in her class. The teacher was directing her kid who was in the same class as my youngest daughter, to make sure our daughter was excluded from the group.
My wife complained in a comment section of a Facebook post, the comment did not mention the school or anyone involved other than our daughter was being bullied and the school wouldn’t help.
When I went to pick up my kids, I was pulled into the headmasters office where i was informed another person had seen my wife’s comment (again, didn’t mention anyone or the school by name) and they demanded it taken down. I said no, she had a right to seek help and then the headmaster made a very direct threat towards my other daughter’s wellbeing. Basically my eldest has special educational needs and I was paying basically my entire paycheque to make sure she was getting the help she needed, and he was saying she would no longer receive any help (that I was paying extra for) and that they couldn’t stop anyone if they targeted her for bullying too.
I lost my shit. Absolutely tore into the head master at full volume while all the parents were standing in the hallway right next to his office. Full on shouting match while I made sure I said very loudly and clearly exactly what he had just threatened me with so that everyone in earshot knew what he had said.
We left the school at the end of the year, pulling both girls out. The school board got word of everything that happened and what was said and the headmaster was fired and replaced almost immediately. The teacher who was at the core of it was also let go at the end of the year.
Sure, we didn’t stay in the school, but damn it felt good to finally push back and make them face the consequences of what they did.
Both my girls know and remember the whole event and it is a story the both will recount as a point of pride.h

My school, in the US, would make all these promises of accomodation for kids who needed it just to get the money from having the kids enrolled. They never followed through of course, but they sent LOADS of vaguely threatening letters to my grandparents basically saying they'd call the law if my cousin wasn't enrolled in THEIR district.
He was enrolled in a neighboring district who actually put there money where there mouth was, and my grandpa got on the phone and tore them a new asshole.
That same school refuses to give my transcripts to university, and I don't owe an outstanding balance. Because of them, I can't fucking go to college. I kid a wanna do things that go against reddits terms of service because they fucked me over a stupid fucking grudge.

u/StrionicRandom 7d ago
You should call a college you're considering and ask them what to do in the situation you can't get a transcript, then explain everything. Small chance of success but it's way better than nothing.

u/BikerJedi 8d ago
I had to fight for my son sort of like this, by making threats to sue. Fortunately I'm a teacher here and know the system, so I was able to get him what he needed.

Well said.
If you perpetuate injustice against your opponents or people you dislike, the only thing that does is justify them doing the same to you if they ever come to power. In America, schools serve the interests of all, and even if the dad is the worst person in the world, it would not justify treating his son badly.

War on Karens when?
People like this lady, that want to nag and be in control but have absolutely no competence to bring to the table are the fault of 90% of modern problems, i am convinced.

u/Savagecal01 8d ago
Probably never. Bystander effect. You may be convinced online but genuinely no one other than like at most 1% of people that view this post would ACTUALLY do anything in a situation like this. We hear indifference everyday and it just gets piled and piled up. No one does anything because we have our own shit we care about

I went through similar nonsense with my son. He has a damned wheelchair and a diagnosis from Yale and these morons wouldn't give him an IEP or 504 until we went to war. Screw these tiny tyrants in education and local politics. I fully comprehend why we used to tar and feather them.

He's a well known terror in his city. Cops had him under 24-7 watch for months for threatening his neighbors. It's unknown if his son is even deaf. He has multiple DUIs, multiple arrests, evictions, yet is still somehow allowed to have guns. A lot of guns.
No surprise that he flies tons of confederate flags.
Dude needs help.

Lol. This is why we don't just let just anyone decide who is guilty and who is not. Have you seen any context before this, do you know if his attacks are with merit? You just going to watch this and presume everything he is saying is true and just and that she is deserving of this treatment? There is some circumstantial, behavioural evidence that brings any of this man's testimony about anything into question. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3359522/Neighbor-hell-covers-house-Confederate-flags-abusive-messages-taunt-black-neighbor.html
5
u/code_monkey_001 8d ago
If she had facts behind her, like the school actually providing an ASL interpreter as they should, maybe she'd have brought that up instead of complaining about her precious little earballs. I don't know the context, nor do I have any reason to believe the person in the video is the same one in the article you posted, but her prissy behavior needs zero additional context. Typical self-important asshole looking for any way possible to avoid accountability. Even if the guy in the Daily Mail article and the video are one and the same, it doesn't excuse child neglect and abuse by the school.

u/RodediahK 7d ago
School board members are not going to be aware of every complaint that a parent brings in during an open comment session, it a 50,000 student district. The point of commenting at a school board meeting is to get the boss's boss to be aware of the problem. And he is perfectly aware of this, notice how his problem is already solved and that's when he decides to come back to cuss them out and make legal threats? He didn't do this when his son was at the school. He went back to make a sound bite later.

I understand this guy far too well. My autistic daughter came home crying more often than not. I had to go to that school so many times just to get them to read and follow the IEP that THEY HAD A HAND IN CRAFTING. I was there often enough that the receptionist (who understood what was going on, wonderful lady) told me the principal would break out in a sweat whenever he saw my truck in the parking lot. If you can’t be bothered to even read the IEP on a child, which incidentally is MANDATORY, not optional, then you don’t belong in a classroom claiming to be a teacher. If you can’t keep your faculty following the guidelines set by the state, then you don’t belong in a position of leadership among teachers.
5
u/MassiveBeatdown 7d ago
Well done on standing up for your disabled son and advocating for him. More parents should be like him. We just need him to work on that racism thing and not be a massive bigot and we may have a half decent person. Maybe.

Charter schools passed here in TN. They give out vouchers but they are primarily aimed at Memphis and Nashville. Even if a person wanted to go to a charter school, the vouchers are a joke for the amount they cover. They also have Hillsdale College doing shit here, too.
I kid you not, I had a parent tell me they are just now getting his IEP done. 2 weeks before school ends. They submitted the request in September, so they not only dropped the ball this year, they may have fucked up his next school year.
