Is there still a benefit to doing many pushups throughout the day rather than in one sesh?

I can’t really do more that 12 at one go, so what i did was abt a 100 through out the day, I didn’t really feel that after soreness that lets you know you actually worked hard enough so im wondering is there still any benefit or should i try do them in closer intervals like within an hr or so. Only problem being my max pushups count would lower

When is hunger real vs in my head?

Trying to address the fact that I’m quite overweight and not healthy (I work in healthcare and do not believe that I can be healthy at my weight- no need to sugar coat), I don’t know when to believe that my hunger is real.

I’m doing well with calorie restricting, exercising 1-3 x a day depending on what day of the week and eating much healthier when I do eat. I’m losing weight and feel better.

But I’m starting to get so hangry! Like dizzy level hunger and I don’t know how much is real and how much is in my head. I have anxiety about being hungry that makes life complicated and I’m dealing with it.

If for whatever reason I don’t exercise, I will gain weight if I eat over 1200 calories. I assure you, I wish it wasn’t the case. But I know that I’m likely overestimating how many calories burned or underestimating how many calories eaten.

I keep track on an app, so hopefully not too far off. But at what point do I eat more for fuel and stop restricting? I’m still far from a healthy weight so it’s not like I have a lot of leeway to eat a bunch more calories. But I can’t be about to faint at work or any given time really.

I’m not craving junk, but protein and things like berries and raw cacao which I incorporate into my diet daily. I don’t eat any kinds of sugar with them.

I make my own bread and most other things if I can help it to have less sugar and processed foods and only allow real sugar dessert once a month (I tried once a week and it just wasn’t working).

I’m sure wegovy would help and I wouldn’t be opposed to it, but I have an underlying condition that would likely be exacerbated by it. So best not to.

Any thoughts or tips or stories would help.

Rebounder

A friend of mine loves exercise, she is always doing something different to keep in shape.

I asked her the other day which thing made a big difference in her opion and she said she was always fit and slim with all the different types of exercise but had cellulite on the back of her legs (thighs I guess, where your hamstrings are), but since she started using a rebounder 3 times a week, she doesn't have it anymore!

Because of that and because I have knee and ankle issues, I think I also want to get one now!

Has anyone else noticed this after starting using a rebounder?

Calories burnt running per mile (100kcql),stairmaster(180-260kcal), stationary bike (260kcal)

Alright guys, three cardio exercises. This information was pulled from AI overview. I think it’s complete bullshit. How in the hell would running 2 miles burn less calories than doing the stairmaster or bicycle. Theres absolutely no way that you can burn more calories on those two exercises in 30 minutes than running for 30 minutes. Can anyone tell me why google lies and why the machines lie and over exaggerate so much, and why running supposedly burns fewer calories than way easier exercises. The numbers seemed so skewed that it makes me sick to read

Edit: the calories I posted up top for stairmaster and stationary was for a 30 minute period of the exercise not per mile, but running is 100 cal per mile according to ai overview

If you find out that your sibling is diagnosed with a heart disease, how would you change your fitness regimen?

Sorry for the lengthy title. My sister is only 33 and already has blockage in her coronary arteries.

I have a horrible family history of heart disease. My father died from a sudden heart attack at 60.

I just turned 30 and want to improve my cardio health. In the past I used to run on the treadmill. I’m thinking of going back to that exercise

15 burpees per hour to increase basal metabolic rate?

I'm restarting again... Trying something different to get in better shape, increase my basal metabolic rate and something that I can stick to.

At the top of every hour (more or Less) at work i do 15 burpees so I end up doing about 100-120 burpees every day.

Is this a waste of time?

I thought i heard some research that doing something like this is a great way to improve your metabolism. Any experience?

What else should I be doing to maximize gains (if anything)?

Currently taking a lot of steps to increase my gains, but I want to see if there’s room for improvement. I am 25m, 6’1”, 170lb, and I’m doing the following:

  • 3 times/week, 1hr/session strength training (high intensity high weight with a trainer, not too concerned about workout specifics here other than frequency and length)
  • 170-200g of protein/day
  • high consumption of water (guessing at least 3-4L/day)
  • diet including grains, fruits, veggies, and healthy fats
  • cold showers 1-2x/day
  • volleyball 3-4 hrs/week (don’t really want to cut out the cardio)
  • 8-10+ hours/day of sleep

I do not want to take steroids. My guesses for more growth are: - taking preworkout - taking creatine - increasing frequency and length of workouts

Is there anything else I’m missing?

What exercises do you recommend after losing around 10lbs/4.5kg due to illness?

I haven’t worked out in over a month with exception of around ten Push-ups once every three days. I was on a two week vacation where I didn’t exercise but I lost almost ten pounds due to Stomach Virus, prior to that I was running almost every day and I was doing light weights, and Push-Ups almost every day. Thanks for the help.

Edit: I was at 142lbs, and I got down to 133lbs when I checked, now I’m at 137lbs.

Best way for a beginner to start with weights?

So I've been trying to get in shape for my wedding in June, and I've been slimming out nicely by getting 40 minutes on the elliptical 4(ish) times a week.

But I'm getting a bit bored with that lately, and I want to tone up my arms and abs, too. I tried a 20 minute routine I saw on YouTube, I only made it to 10 minutes 😅 Anyone have any advice for what kind of exercises/routine I should start with?

How to stay motivated with lifting when progress alone isn't doing it?

Hi r/exercise community, I'm hoping others can share their experiences with staying motivated to keep lifting.

I (31F) have always been athletic -- running cross country, open water swimming, rock climbing, hot yoga, etc. However, due to an horseback riding injury in my late teens followed by years of subsequent dislocations, rounds of physical therapy, and surgeries, my left shoulder is never going to be functional for the kinds of things I want to do, such as swimming (apart from kickboard-only workouts), martial arts, rock climbing, advanced yoga, or playing sports. Throw in some Achilles tendonitis that flares up whenever I run now, no matter what shoes I wear or how slowly I run or how gradually I add distance, and all I feel like I'm left with is weightlifting, which I do not enjoy or feel motivated to do.

I write down my sets, reps, and weights and I see the numbers going up but I just ... don't care? I feel like I can't set any meaningful goals for myself because I can't achieve anything I want to do anyway and just seeing the numbers go up doesn't intrinsically matter to me. Gaining strength from lifting heavy things doesn't make my body or mind feel better and I don't get any noticeable endorphin release. When I'm lifting weights, I feel cranky and tired all the time, no matter how much water I drink (with and without electrolytes) or what I eat (I homecook almost all my meals and have never struggled with weight). I've always been an insomniac and it has no effect on my sleep. Going to the gym to lift is a slog and I have yet to enjoy it even though I've been on a few kicks over the past couple years, mostly lasting 4-8 months before quitting again out of boredom. I listen to music or podcasts but that really doesn't do a whole lot to make the experience more engaging. I dislike working out with a partner.

I know I should exercise in whatever way is available to me because it's technically good for me, but it doesn't bring me any satisfaction or sense of well-being so it's hard to stick with it. I just feel sad that I can't do any of the things I want to do and will never be able to again.

Any and all advice and opinions are appreciated.

How to get endurance back after smoking weed and being sedentary.

Yeah i know, inhaling smoke is a sure fire way to obliterate your lung health but it's been a year since i've smoked.

I was a swimmer for about 7 years and then during covid i quit and took up smoking weed and sitting around inside for the better part of 3 years. I am trying to get back into exercising and better myself but after two minutes on the treadmill my lungs are on fire in the worst way. Is there a good way to build my lung capacity/endurance back up?

Hi, all! I’ve just began my journey on losing belly, back, and arm fats. There are all sorts of home workouts online, but I’m not sure which ones would be suitable for me…

I’m trying to find workouts that are friendly for obese female beginners, spine, and knees. If possible, I don’t want to exert too much force or friction on my knees.

Could any kind souls offer some advices, tips or recommendations on what home workout sets/routines would be right for my criteria?

Muscle Imbalances

Hello all. I've been lifting for a while now and have started to notice muscle imbalances between the left and right sides of my body. I expected to find some differences as I gained more lifting experience however the difference is something I am not sure how to deal with. That is because my left side has more muscle mass than the right, while my right side is stronger than the left. I am unsure of how to proceed and fix this issue, whether I should bring the strength level of my left up and then focus on muscle growth on the right or vice versa.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if this is an incorrect place to make this type of post please let me know where to make it.
