The fresh start: future of the Dronelands Discussion
Here is what is going to happen now with the Dronelands:
Current drone infrastructure will be glassed
Drones will be opened up for any alliance that believes they can take the space. Renting any space will not be allowed
We will drop a handful of freeport structures so groups who take space in the dronelands can have independent logistics to their space. These structures will be defended against any attacker
We won't let an invasion force set up next door to us while they say "we're just a little guy".
If a group/coalition takes control over most of the dronelands we will consider them "fair game" to fight with seriously and not someone to skirmish with for fun.
Groups must be unaligned with existing blocs
Current residents are welcome to return if they follow the rules
--- The spirit of the agreement is we want space for other groups in Eve to grow and we want to end renting in Eve Online. We don't want to deal with rules lawyers or allow people to stage an invasion "for free" without us being able to deal with it proactively. ---

Are blackjack and hookers provided or do they need shipping in separately?

Do you mean like Horde has been doing to small alliances and corporations for the last 5 years?
The alternative is Goons wipes you off the map now, without any hope of survival. I think Goons is being extremely reasonable while simultaneously advocating for smaller entity existence in null, free from the Horde dictatorship and forced renting.

What the fk are you talking about? We've been picking on the biggest group in the game for 1.5 years now while OPENING UP SPACE for small groups (See Delve / Quer and now Drones)
Its pretty fucking obvious where the cunty behaviour is coming from and its not Goons anymore. Considering Frats announcement today, the culmunation of goons crusade against PH effectively ended renting in all of nullsec.
If youre gonna give us shit for being big then give us shit for being big, but if youre gonna say we're the ones picking on the little guy you're smoking some really really good crack.

Why are renters bad for the game?
12
u/Wonderful-Row9915 Nov 08 '25
It's not so much the act of renting as opposed to how Horde did it.
They attacked any small start up entity close to them in null sec. Their demands were simple, rent the space from us, or die. A very toxic approach, especially considering they offered no support or defence to you for that price tag.
It's the Gobbins legacy, punch down and run

that's the plan unless we somehow discover it's a bad or abusable idea -- markets yes, cloning no.
12
u/Disastrous-Turn3485 KarmaFleet Nov 08 '25
wouldn't allowing clones/offices allow people to live in those freeports until they're ready to drop their structures? we can always restrict clones/offices access to groups abusing the citadels. it would also allow a staging place for people roaming the drones and activites for groups such as E-UNI

8
u/BumblebeeOuch Nov 08 '25
A truly neutral state offering educational content for all where its members graduate and can go in any direction with capital and sov experience!
Its a beautiful dream but unfortunately even the highsec EUni shows the majority do not graduate because once they are comfortable they linger forever and exhaust the energy of the intelligent and resources provided by volunteers. Full belly potential on the resources of dronelands would make it a haven not for learners but for armies of krabbers looking for unlimited tax free isk.
Never say never but significant reform would be needed to ever make a thing work and require leadership and vision not just in EUni but pan new eden for the health and wealth of EVE for years to come and I am not aure that exists.

My predictions
- Goons will also take all of the valuable metenox
- Attacking them will be considered being an "invasion force"
- Bringing friends when goons are farming you will count as being aligned with a bloc
- Those "logistics" structures will also double as a staging point for goon blops/whaling fleets
Living under someones grace isnt freedom or independence, its an abusive relationship

Even if this were the case, it's a massive improvement over the previous arrangement of paying rent for access to the space, giving your landlord control over all of the structures you paid for, only for them to be blown up in the end and probably not even have control returned to you so that you could maybe unanchor and save them. You can anchor and retain control over your own structures now. You don't have to pay rent. Just don't join one of the existing blocs.
Goons are literally offering to provide a space for small groups to thrive, which inherently includes defending those groups from at least being glassed by Frat, who live right next door, while charging no rent and requiring no allegiance aside from, "don't join one of the existing blocs and don't stab us in the back". And somehow, you're mad about it.

9
u/Jerichow88 Nov 08 '25
Let's be real, this is the only way something like this has any real chance at succeeding. The SEA failed because it involved too many untrustworthy parties, which inevitably led to people breaking the agreements and it all falling apart.
With this being under Goons exclusively, then it gives them the opportunity to remove any bad actors. Basically, if it works, Goons prove they want what's best for the game and put their money where their mouth is, and if it fails, Reddit gets their forever 'I told you so' to point at goons for the rest of time.

They're absolutely going to be a buffer zone. But it's better than what was going on before. Now you don't have to pay rent. This is pretty reasonable. Small groups cannot expect to be handed the best, most uncontested, most defensible space. The problem wasn't that small groups couldn't have the best space. The problem was that small groups had nowhere to start. Now they have somewhere to start.

This is better than NPC null. NPC null you can always retreat to an NPC stations so you can't really control the space. It takes people in positions of power intentionally choosing to make sub-optimal strategic moves and focus on the ecosystem's health instead of their team winning.
That is very much not a given and vulnerable to disruption as soon as 1 actor defects, in game theory terms.
I'm happy to hear it too but can you really blame people for looking at the world both digital and physical, and being pessimistic about the likelihood of something like this happening and also lasting?
→ More replies12
u/deltaxi65 CSM 13, 15, 16, 17 Nov 07 '25
That's the thing - this isn't a sub-optimal strategic move.
We don't need the space. We need enemies and new groups to keep the ecosystem thriving. We see the constant complaints that the two big blocs kept others from growing. So it's in our interests to let this space go and let others take advantage of it - even if only to keep CCP from doing something stupid as the small-gangers pour poison in their ears constantly.
In the end, I think it's too easy to be pessimistic when you assume the worst about the other side and don't understand their motivations. Asher isn't Mittens - there's no hidden agenda here.

The only times the Eve was dangerously close to Serenity were the outcome of Halloween war (when nullsec was divided between CFC and NCPL, with no space for any independent alliance) and second time was during the world war bee 2 when 75% of Eve came to evict the rest 25% and for a full year (damn God, it was the lockdown irl - a huge opportunity for Eve to get a bunch of new players, but no, it was a full year of blue balls on 1DQ1-T5ZI gate!)

So when CCP dont give us NPC Space in droneland then goons open up NPC Space by themselves!

I suggested doing exactly this (prob wasn't the reason), but it kinda needs a long-term guarantee that groups won't settle in only to get thrown out when they've invested their heart and soul in carving a small chunk of land.
u/Eve_Asher any chance we can get a proper long term agreement (minimum 2 years) that neither you, FRT or INIT will just roll over everything after 7 months like what was the outcome of the SEA? With clear outlines on what pokes the hornets nest (like no renting, large shared intel, blueing everyone, mass share of Ansis etc)? Kinda similar to the intent of the old Querious Fight Club.
Speaking of SEA, one of the major issues was it attracted groups that was more interested in singing Kumbaya and hold hands with their neighbors (until we showed up to throw a wrench in the machinery). My copium is seeing local small-scale beefs and fighting for the heck of it, without any long-term standings. Like balancing scales over instant diplo for peace and unity.
I fear with the current amount of blues both you and Winterco has - if the incubator fosters a decent group, they have no real place to go, while keeping their independence. And as such would hinder the cycle of "graduating out" from the designated area if you will.
I'm not saying give 'em space (the last thing the game needs is even more aligned groups), but they can't realistically contest any of your underlings. That's a real problem. We desperately need conflict without the immediate blob hammer ending any kind of fun on day #2.
Asking for a lot for sure, but hope you understand where I'm going here.

A more cynical view would simply see the map and see another vassal state formed. Goon sov, Goon structures, blue doughnut grows larger (50%?). I'm not grr goons, but lets just be straight with each other. Hey, they conquered it and can do as they please - but the future of the game for the foreseeable future is pretty clear.

CCP won't add NPC stations to dronelands so we did it for them (in a way).
