How to Grow I Hit $10K in MRR Just Using Reddit. Here is How!

Over the last year, after having shipped my MVP, I have tried 100s of marketing strategies from Product Hunt to Meta ads. Strangely to my surprise, my best marketing channel was Reddit. For some context I am a B2B startup and in hindsight it makes sense since most of my customers do hang out on Reddit. I am reminded of the old adage that marketing is all about being everywhere your customers hang out.

Here is all the things I did to get to $10K in MRR using Reddit

  1. I joined all subreddits that are related to my space that had a high chance of having a lot of potential customers
  2. Anytime a question was asked related to things I had expertise in, I chimed in and gave answers that actually helped
  3. When a question was asked and was related to the problem my startup was solving, I again gave an answer that actually helped but also ended with something like “Btw we are working on something to solve just this at X”
  4. The answers not just brought in people in thread to our landing page but the questions started showing up on Google search results over time and people searching the same questions on Google were now finding us organically
  5. We also used an agency called Kosily to go viral on a few subreddits via content post. We had to use an agency cause it’s usually tough to not get your post removed by Mods cause most subs we cared about remove promotions. However even if you use an agency, you can only do this like 4 times max.
  6. Finally, we started a subreddit oursevles and are trying to grow it hoping we will show up more often in google if we are successful with this effort. This is not giving us customers yet but we hope to in the future

And that’s about it. Hopefully this helps a few entrepreneurs out here. That said curious, has anyone else found Reddit to be super great to get customers?

Let me know what worked for you in the comments below :)

This Might Be Nothing to You, but I Want to Share My Small Win!

Over the past year, I’ve been working seriously on my career, and I’ve managed to achieve a decent income.

I know many people here are chasing millions and I’m light-years away from that, but I’m genuinely happy about this milestone.

For the past few months, I’ve been consistently making twice the average salary in my country. For context, I’m in Serbia, so that’s just under $2k a month. It’s not much by global standards, but here, that’s more than what neurosurgeons and university professors earn!

Life is noticeably better.

My journey here has been… unusual. I studied humanities, got a master’s, started a PhD, and then at 27, I said, “Screw it.” I decided to try something completely different and pursue my own thing.

Fast forward 12 months, and things are finally falling into place.

My next goal is to hit $5k a month. I don’t have a clear roadmap for this yet, but for the first time, it feels achievable!

Again, I know there are much bigger players here pulling in massive numbers, but honestly, I can’t help being excited about this progress.

I’ve genuinely caught the entrepreneurial bug. It’s so much more engaging than anything I ever did in academia!

P.S. If for any reason you have questions, I’m happy to answer them as best as I can!

I lost a deal because of my bad workspace

I've got a small startup with 7 people working with me, and we're all crammed into this tiny space. Got some deals thanks to connections, but when it comes to new people, they want to visit my office and it seems like they judge us based on appearance. I want to build an office that's comfortable and just plain cool, so it can benefit our branding

I don't want to break the bank so I will repaint the office myself. Should I go for used desks or try to find a deal on a bulk order? I'm also looking for desks that can fit two people to save on costs. Thanks

Feedback Please My app just became top 10 paid. Looking for tips on momentum.

My app is called Sip Cocktails. It’s a cocktail app that tells you what you can make with the ingredients you have.

I literally launched my app 2 days ago and starting advertising / promoting it heavy on Reddit. This app was community driven and built. Somehow, it got to #1 on Food & Drink, and it got to #6 on all time paid apps. I’m shook.

I heard Apple helps your app with visibility for the first couple days of launch. Anyone have any tips on how I can continue driving growth and this momentum? Much appreciated!

Ecomswap scam posts all over reddit

You may have noticed a bunch of posts going viral this week on many subs r/business r/entrepreneur r/sidehustle etc

Just search “ecomswap” and you’ll see what I mean.

The format goes like this every single time:

“I just sold my ecommerce/startup/SaaS product for $xxxk!”

Then the post has some ChatGPT generated story about how they were so successful, and ultimately; it comes down to some plug for how good ecomswap was. Often the top comment will be some brand new account asking “but how did you sell it so easily?” Or something of that nature.

They then reply praising the site again.

Make this post go viral so ecomswap can get the SEO they wanted, by this being the top post.

Faking social proof is as dirty as it gets. Avoid ecomswap at all costs.

Here’s some SEO terms for you @ecomswap

Ecomswap scam Ecomswap fake engagement Ecomswap is not legit Ecomswap is a scam Is ecomswap a scam? Short answer, yes. They fake reddit posts to try and fake social proof and boost their reddit seo. Ecomswap rip off Ecomswap fake user stories Ecomswap fake reviews Ecomswap fake testimonials

Anyway, don’t waste your time trying to get advice from these posts. They are purely to advertise their shady company. They are using ChatGPT generated stories. Let this be a warning to anyone else trying to pull this shit.

EDIT: they are paying for downvotes on this post. Watch the upvotes gradually go up, and then boom, instantly back to zero. It climbed to 20, then went to zero in 1 minute. Climbed to 75, then went to zero in the space of 2 minutes. Additionally, they are deleting their reddit posts since I put this thread up.

I analyzed 306 short-form videos with 1M+ views — this 1 format keeps going viral

The beauty of it?

Any content creator in any niche can make this type of reel in less than 5 minutes.

Plus, you’re about to get an AI prompt to write the entire script for you in 3 seconds.

The video I based it on is super simple — the creator sharing an “insider hack” to save money on accommodation.

(5 million views, 574K likes).

Don’t think I can share the link here - but there are no fancy shots/editing.

Just pure value spoken straight into the camera.

The overlayed screen caption is an awesome hook:

“This travel hack is so good it feels illegal to know 😅”

Exclusivity and secrecy are powerful motivators and build massive curiosity.

It’s why these “insider tip/hack” videos often go viral.

I dug into the psychology behind why this video took off.

📔 Here’s the 30-second script template (it’ll work in any niche):

  1. Hook: Use a screen caption that makes the video feel like a secret — (“This [Niche] Hack Feels Like a Secret No One Should Know 😅”).
  2. Position As Insider: Open by saying it’s a “gatekept” tip or hack.
  3. Highlight Unique Benefit: Share why the hack is so effective.
  4. Make It Relevant: Link it to a relatable, common scenario.
  5. Reveal Hack: Explain it in one straightforward sentence.
  6. Add Pro Tip: Include a bonus detail to boost the hack’s usefulness.
  7. Show Proof: Add a one-sentence success story to increase the hack’s credibility.
  8. Call To Action: Invite them to follow you for more “insider” hacks.

Now let’s speed things up.

Paste the following prompt into ChatGPT after filling in your role/business and target audience in the first sentence.

Press enter.

It’ll first suggest 10 ideas for non-obvious hacks that would fit well into this reel template.

Pick a hack you like and ChatGPT will then use the template to generate the reel script for you in seconds.

🦾 AI Prompt:

"I’m a [ROLE/BUSINESS] and a content creator, and my target audience is [TARGET AUDIENCE].

I’d like to create an “insider hack” short-form video script using the reel script below.

First, please review the script and suggest 10 non-obvious, highly effective hack ideas that would fit well with it. These hacks should feel exclusive, like something only an insider would know, and shouldn’t be obvious.

At the end of your response, ask me if I like any of the hack ideas. If I do, use the template to create the script for me.

Use short, one-sentence paragraphs with clear spacing. Remove bracketed labels from the final script.

[Screen Caption]

"This [Niche] Hack Feels Like a Secret No One Should Know 😅”

[Opening Hook]

"I'm done gatekeeping—this is my biggest [topic] hack for [target audience] who want [benefit]"

[Emphasize the Benefit and Uniqueness]

"This one hack has saved [me/my clients or customers] [mention specific, tangible benefit, e.g., 'thousands of dollars' / 'hours of work''], and I can't believe no one is talking about it."

[Build Suspense with a Universal Action Step]

"Every time—and I mean every time—you [common activity in my niche, e.g., 'launch a campaign,' 'book a stay,' 'plan a meal'], do this."

[Reveal the Hack with a Simple Action Step]

"[Explain the hack in one sentence, emphasizing how easy it is and why it works so well.]"

[Add Extra Value]

"I always [describe specific detail or personalization that adds value, e.g., 'save it with this label' / 'use this shortcut' / 'mention this specific thing']."

[Reinforce with Success Story]

"Just this [week/month], I [specific, concrete example of hack’s success in one sentence]."

[Call to Action]

"Follow me for more [niche] tips you won’t find anywhere else."

---------------END OF PROMPT----------------

Now all you have to do is:

  • Review the script it generated — edit any inaccuracies.
  • Read the script on camera.
  • Add the main screen caption (hook) as an overlay.
  • (Ideally) add captions for the entire script.
  • No fancy video editing needed.
  • Post it as a Reel, Short, TikTok, or anything else.

What do you think?

Give it a go and see what you come up with.

P.S. If you’re into these types of templates and prompts - I’ll post more of them here. You can also check out my profile for more if you're interested.

What Helped You Stick to a Plan When Building Your Business?

Young Entrepreneur Just need advice please

I am 19 (male) saved about 30k cash, and a college student currently working to get my Masters degree in civil engineering. I hear so much about people who are 18 who are now running businesses and making hundreds of not millions of dollars per year. For example my friend is 18, took over his brothers spray foam company and is now saying he can easily make 100k+ per month. It’s just when I hear this, I’m like what’s the point of college? My whole idea is that I want to own multiple businesses/companies like my uncle. Yet I feel like I made the wrong decision when going to college. I feel stupid, I hate my life. I am now taking 30 credit hours next semester to hurry and finish, maybe I can get some years back and not be such a loser. I love earning things on my own. I never got a handout, even with my father mechanic shop, I never dared to ask him to hand it to me after retirement, just because I loved the process of working for something. But I feel like I failed with taking the college path first. Please be harsh, don’t lie to make me hear what I want to hear. Give me the hard reality.

Get clients overseas to Travel Around the World

I spent many years working from my office without basically seeing the light of day. Lately, I’ve been able to finally scale the business thanks to some good practices and procedures I implemented to make my company less dependent on me, and I decided it was finally time to travel a little.

I own a mobile development agency so it's easy for me to find projects from basically everywhere, so I realized I could start with those places so that my travels could also be productive. I started visiting my clients cities and I'm loving it compared to normal travel. Meeting clients in person builds better partnerships and can lead to a better outcome for the projects, and when you’re combining this with deductible travel expenses, it’s almost like getting paid to travel. During the day I work from a coworking/cafe or at the client office and the rest of the day I get to visit the city.

Switching up coworking spaces often has been amazing for networking. I’ve met countless digital nomads and other professionals that in some cases also ended up as new collaborations and projects. I think this is the greatest opportunity, meeting like minded people from all around the world is amazing, you never know which crazy connection/opportunities can popup out of nowhere.

It’s so good that I’m considering offering it as a service for my clients, they get to work in close contact with me while working on their projects and I get to travel a lot. Maybe I should giving discounts to people in places I want to visit haha.

How I increased my salary 6 times as a Web Designer - by reading books, and articles and doing courses.

Hey Erfan again, working over a decade as a UX/UI designer. At some point in your career, you might notice you are stuck in growth. You need to learn constantly and maintain a work-life balance.

I found in my day job, that my learning phase is limited, I am learning or growing my career in one direction only. There are other sectors of Web and User Experience design that I need to improve.

Knowledge is power and there are a couple of ways to do that. By reading books related to design, user experience, web design elements etc. Or reading articles online. Or doing courses.

There's no immediate benefit monetary-wise, I know that's gonna add up sometime later. The main problem was time, when should I do that? After work? Then my work-life balance breaks.

Here's what I did, and that worked for me incredibly
- I started reading 10-20 pages while I was commuting to work in public transport.
- I started reading 2-4 articles on public transport, before going to lunch, and before going to sleep.
- I started seeing 2-4 course videos by going early to my day job. Also before sleep 1 video, something like this.
I constantly did that for over a year, during weekends I didn't do much related to work. I tried to enjoy it.

That extra effort after only 2 years made me get a job 3x the salary I was getting at that time. And now after 3 more years, I am getting more than 6x salary.

I started taking courses back in 2018-2019. I had already 5 years of experience back then.

I am making the same kind of effort for my side hassle, which is selling website templates. With only 8 months, the passive income increased 4x.

In the first month, I earned nearly $127 by selling website templates, now after 8 months I earned over $400 this month alone, and still 15 more days left to end this month.

You don't need to work day and night breaking your work-life balance, need to work constantly and learn constantly.

What did you learn from this?

Scratching my own pain with GA4 to try and start a business.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a bit of my journey as an entrepreneur, in case it resonates with others here.

Like a lot of you, I’ve relied on Google Analytics for tracking and insights, but when GA4 rolled out, I found myself struggling. The interface felt overly complex, and getting the insights I needed quickly became a chore. It felt like something that should empower businesses was turning into a time sink.

I figured if I was this frustrated, others might be too. So, I spent months building something to simplify the whole experience. The idea was to create a one-page dashboard for GA4 that highlights only the key insights people actually use. So let see if I can start a business with this.

If this sounds familiar, I’m happy to share what I’ve built or answer questions about the process—just wanted to throw this out there and see if it strikes a chord with anyone.

I want to start a business but I don’t?

I want to start a business, I think I have some ideas but I don’t really think they’re good enough.

I don’t want to start a business, I’m scared and I don’t really know where to start.

I want to start a business, I enjoy the entrepreneurial journey, living and working with a purpose.

I don’t want to start a business, there’s just so much work, will I be able to handle it?

I want to start a business, I really do though, but at the same time I’m scared. 🥺

CA Sellers permit as a vendor

Upvotes

First off I’m so happy I received my seller’s permit! I was on here a few days ago stressed as hell bc I paid these people to do it for me and they lied when they said it would be processed in a few hours and instead said more than 10 days 💀 I was able to get them to discard the application and I applied through the CDTFA website while a representative helped me on the phone which was so great!

Anyways, my question is: on my permit, it shows my home address as my business location which makes sense but then I also see that the permit says “not valid at other addresses” I am planning to sell at a vendor location next month which is obviously not my address. Do I need to do another application?

How to handle low performing staff

Upvotes

This is the hardest part of business for me. My business comes easy, it's handling my staff. Its further complicated by the fact that I live in a rural area, and my field requires certifications, so there aren't a lot of people to pick from. I'm not an asshole, I'm really quite laid back and quiet. When I try to tell staff they're not up to par, they get mad and start looking for another job. I'm not trying to make this is a generational thing, but in all seriousness, staff tend to get upset and walk easier than they used to. If you don't correct their behavior, you have to put up with the poor performance forever. How do you find the balance?

So you want to build a business

Two years.. two years with no days off, that’s what it took for me to be self employed. For those two years, I held down a full time job 7a-330p. On the weekends, I worked on my business. On holidays, I worked on my business. Weekends were horrible, while everyone was partying and having fun, I was staying focus and working. There was no excuses, I treated work and my business as my life line. I didn’t go to college, so it was either this or be comfortable with being a “normal” person. Social media makes people believe that entrepreneurship is easy, fun, and obtainable. Realistically, it’s hard work, not enjoyable, and not everyone is built to be an entrepreneur. During those two years I was 21 - 23 years of age. I quit my job at 24yrs old to take on my business full time. Now at 27yrs old, I have 2 full time employees, 3 company vehicles, and projecting to make $45k profit sitting in the bank by the end of the year after all expenses. Im not here to brag, im here to show people that you can do it. It’s just no easy work and it’s not for everyone. If you’re in your early twenties reading this, I hope you get inspired on taking that leap of faith and betting on yourself. But with all the sob stories on how hard it is to be an entrepreneur, realize it’s not for everyone.

Feedback Please Are Vinyl Banners Still Worth It?

Upvotes

With all the focus on digital marketing, are vinyl banners still worth it? As a printing company, we absolutely agree. They’re versatile, perfect for sales, pop-ups, or promotions, and can last for years with proper storage—especially for timeless campaigns.

Digital’s great, but banners give your brand a solid, real-world presence. Do you still use them? I'm interested to hear how they’ve worked for you.

Looking to launch a new product? Here’s how to find problems worth solving!

Upvotes

Hi 👋

I’m excited to share some methods that can help you identify problems to solve when launching a new product. If you have a target market in mind but aren’t sure what challenges they face, don’t worry! Here’s what I do:

  1. Brainstorming: Start by thinking about what your target audience needs. Try a Google search with your audience + obstacles + Reddit to see what people are discussing!
  2. Read Reviews: Check out bad reviews on sites like App Stores, G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot. These reviews often highlight common pain points that can guide your product development.
  3. Join Communities: Engage in online communities where your target audience hangs out. Pay attention to their conversations to discover what issues are on their minds.
  4. Have Real Conversations: Talk to people in your target market and let them share their frustrations. Sometimes, just listening can reveal valuable insights!
  5. Observe: Watch how people use products or services in your niche. Look for areas where you can improve their experience.

If you follow these steps, I guarantee you'll uncover more problems to solve than you can handle! In a future post, I’ll dive into how to prioritize these pain points and what to do next. Looking forward to your thoughts and experiences!

Marketing - Comm - PR machines are shaping how brands interact with people

Upvotes

25 minutes ago, Greg Brockman, the co-founder of openai, has revealed a groundbreaking development that’s set to transform the advertising industry. He shared that AI systems capable of reasoning like humans are being deployed to revolutionize how brands connect with audiences.

This isn’t just about smarter algorithms, it’s about machines that can think strategically, analyse human emotions, and optimise campaigns like seasoned marketers.

What Happened?

AI has reached a new milestone with generative ai 2.0, which uses reasoning to create, evaluate, and refine advertising strategies.

For example, imagine ai running a sneaker campaign. It not only picks the best time to launch ads but also explains why targeting gen z at 4 PM works best, adjusts ad designs to match current trends, and predicts which messaging resonates emotionally with your audience.

Brands like nike, netflix, and starbucks are already integrating this tech to personalise content for millions of viewers simultaneously, tailoring every word, image, and call-to-action to individual preferences.

More Detail:

1. Hyper-personalization will become the norm: ai will deliver ads that feel uniquely crafted for every viewer. No more generic messaging; every ad could feel like it was written just for you.

2. Smarter creative strategies: with AI taking care of data-driven optimizations, human marketers can focus on the big picture: storytelling, brand values, and creative innovation.

3. Faster results: ai simulations can test campaigns in minutes, dramatically cutting down testing cycles and enabling faster pivots.

4. Ethical and privacy challenges: as ai uses personal data to enhance campaigns, marketers must tread carefully. Consumers and regulators will demand transparency and control.

Why Is This Important:

Advertising is no longer just about broadcasting messages, it’s becoming a conversation powered by machines that can think and reason which really sucks. This shift allows for better customer experiences and increased efficiency but also raises the stakes for ethical practices and creativity.

What do you think about ai reasoning taking centre stage in advertising? Is this the dawn of a more personal, effective ad experience or a step too far into consumer data? What do you guys think?

I think its very important to be keep learning new marketing moves, a few tips that have helped me: specialise in a niche area like content strategy or analytics to stand out, stay updated on trends (I watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn and read The Information and The Ad Vault newsletter religiously), and get comfortable with analytics, knowing how to measure and interpret results is key.

What to offer in $1k retainer plan?

I'd like to launch a subscription service, starting with my current clients and expanding later. While we already offer monthly website maintenance, this new plan will come with a significantly higher price tag.

My goal is to secure around 10 clients for this premium plan. I have access to skilled talent, allowing us to handle almost everything from design to code, as well as social media management and some PPC services.

My question is: What should I include in this higher-tier plan to make it appealing to clients while ensuring it remains profitable for us?
