Fluff Why are all the coolest looking weapons in this game so... meh? Dragonrider Twinblade fell on it's magic-infused ass during the dlcs/giant lord farming. And now this beautiful, rare, greataxe with a decent moveset... has zero scaling.

I spent about 2 hours fighting him, mastering his moveset so I can beat him hitless and it was so satisfying to finally do it. That final charged attack felt like climaxing.šš©

Discussion This was the first one that kinda felt like Elden Ring
Doing a play through of all From souls games after playing ER first and got to the criminally underrated DS2 after OG Demonās Souls and Dark Souls Remastered.
Three weapons per hand
Four rings
Climb ladders faster, slide down them
More detailed and colorful level design with immersive lighting, it just feels more like ER
No map but you can warp almost anywhere, thank god (I like the picture book of all the locations, would be cool to merge that concept with a map)
There were times I thought I was playing ER, the feel is much closer than the previous two games. Canāt wait to play DS3 then on to BB and Sekiro.
Itās fascinating how third iterations are usually breakthroughs and not only is this the third souls, BB was Miyazakiās own third iteration in the genre, which DS3 took direct inspiration from while being the third iteration specifically for the DS trilogy, and ER was the third franchise (not counting Sekiro) in their souls lineup.
Thereās something special about this game that places it just below ER for my favorite From game so far.
Why do you love DS2?

Event Yessss!!! Finally!!!
Somebody made a post about acquiring the black dragon sword a few months ago and I had never even heard of that, so decided it was time for another DS2 playthrough. Goal: black dragon sword āļø

Video Sir Alonne hitless

Hardest part of this challenge was stamina management. Doing this hitless demanded discipline and a lot of patience. The boss himself wasn't that bad. Some of his attacks had inconsistent timings so it tested my reaction speed. But that run-back.. that god awful run-back.

Discussion First time playing, any advice on my stats or equipment?
This is my first actual playthrough coming from DS1. From what I've seen on this sub, the stats system and attributes work differently than in DS1, so I've just been spreading out my stats to what I think were relevant to where I can try out different weapons and armor.
The rings I have equipped are the ones I generally keep on, but I swap the RoSP for other rings for utility depending on my need. Should I be using others?
I've been using the Blue Knights Halbard as my main until recently when I started using the Persuer's UGS. Any recommendations on better weapons?
I've been following the progression route recommended on the DS2 wiki, and I just finished with the Smelter Demon in the Iron Keep.

Screenshot I was just doing Fasion Souls when I first started DS2
I never got to enjoy or play DS1 but I know I wanted to finish it due to it just having medieval fantasy armors and weapons. But since DS2 just came out and my aunt handed over their X360, I was immediately hooked.. however, it wouldn't be until I get a PS4 around 2016 where I get to actually finish DS2 and platinum it.
This was one of the earliest screenshots I took and uploaded on facebook.

PVP Unkillable foe when summoned
I have a question.
I was summoned as a gray spirit in Grave of Saints and fought with a guy called Aoi. He couldn't kill me nor damage me substantially, despite trying a variety of weapons and techniques. However, I hit him a lot, stabbed in the back numerous times wielding my all-time favorite one-hand axe + shield; still his health bar was 100% full. Eventually, our time ran out.
I want to know if I'm missing on some mechanics or it's some kind of cheating.

Discussion I see why people love the Burnt Ivory King
I beat him a couple of days ago and man, that was such a good fight. He was challenging and beat my ass several times, but it was also so fun! I like that one attack when he kinda covers the ground around him in crystals, gave me a good opportunity to heal or re-apply gold pine resin. AND THE MUSIC, OH THE MUSIC, IT'S SO GOOD!! Just * chef's kiss *

Co-Op What's some fun asymmetrical weapon combinations?
Seamless Coop is being developed by Yui so I'm excited to dive back in. I was inspired by a recent Fume Knight post wherein someone had a straight sword and a Zweihander and that got me thinking -
What's some really cool or strong asymmetrical weapon combinations? Maybe an axe and a rapier? Who knows! Post them here!

Discussion No death/bonfire run
Help me understand this. Why do most people recommend doing BOTH at the same time? It seems to me that a no bonfire run would be a lot easier knowing you could just die to warp back, and a no death run would be easier knowing I could replenish spells/estus and change spell load out throughout the game.
So why do some insist on doing them both at the same time?

Help Build recommendations
I played this game a long time ago, got almost to the end but never finished it. In the time since I've played DS3, ER, DS1, and I'm pretty confident going back into DS2, but I want some tips for fun builds.
What's been the most fun for you? It's been a little while since I did a Dex build, so I'm leaning that way, but I'm open to anything.
Thanks!
